PERSONALITY,
even though tommy is part of the calabrian 'ndrangheta, he's actually quite a sweet guy. he tries to keep himself separate from other people, though, because in less than four years he'll have to take up his family's business, and that kind of includes cutting off contact with everyone he knew before that. tommas has a very pessimistic view on the world, and even though he enjoys using guns and various other weapons for shooting targets, he can't bring himself to harm anything living if his emotions are floating in front of his vision. the solution to that is simple; he shuts up his most basic emotions, along with anything that will make him seem weak, and doesn't even show them to himself unless he's around his family, whom he'd do anything for.

HISTORY,
like any child born into the mafia, tommas grew up surrounded with family, but that often blended into business. he was taught to fight from a young age, but also how to be quiet and only speak when he was confident that he wouldn't fuck anything up. and the most important thing out of all of that? well, that would be the fact that he simply wasn't any good at it. he was just too caring to consider the possibility of hurting anyone, but the rest of his large family had no problem with it. by the time his brother was twenty he'd been to jail twice, and even his adorable little sister had a mean streak. sure, so tommy had a little talent for guns, and he had good reflexes, but did that help with the fact that his conscious just flat out said no? no, it really didn't. he just couldn't hurt anything, no matter how much he tried to please his family.
eventually, he came to be seen as a bit of a failure. he was good in school, had a lot of friends, and was a generally social kid, but he just didn't fit in with the rest of his family. tommas loved them, though, and would do anything for the people that had raised him, even if he hadn't exactly met their expectations. he started spending summers in america with one of his uncles, another “failure” in his family. his uncle wasn't a failure in the same way that tommas was, but he was just too noticeable to join in the family business, so he worked at a restaurant in california. it was that same restaurant that tommy spent his summers in, talking with people that ate at the restaurant and being influenced by his uncle, who wasn't exactly a good influence in any sense. maybe that was why his family had sent tommas to spend time with that certain family member, because he certainly became a bit less bubbly and cheerful. after a few years, his uncle even convinced him to get a few tattoos. maybe more than a few, really. tommas may have gotten a little too carried away with that..
no matter how much he toned down the happiness to please his family, though, he couldn't bring himself to hurt anyone. not even animals, though they were a bit easier. by the time he was seventeen, he was absorbed in the dance classes he was taking in and out of school, and his family actually said yes when he asked if he could attend an arts college. but they had one condition, and even if tommas wasn't very happy about it, he agreed. he had until he was twenty four to live out a life he wanted, but then he was going to have to fully immerse himself in his family's world of organized crime, which was supposed to be his world, too. it wasn't that he lacked any of the skills to do it, but his heart was just in the wrong place, according to his family. the hope was that six years in paris would show him how stupid and unworthy people could be, and he'd come back with a new mindset. after all, they had told him way beforehand about what they were expecting him to do. it wasn't like they were springing anything on him, right?
but in his last year of school, his family did spring something on him. there was going to be a mafia hunting in paris, and the target that they were supposed to kill was a teacher at la lumineuse. tommy's teacher, to be specific. they didn't even need to send tommy's older brother to take him out; their middle child was already in the perfect place to carry out the job. this was tommy's big chance to prove himself to his family. even before he got news of what he was supposed to do, he had already started shutting himself off, absorbing himself in school and dancing instead of making friends that he would just have to get rid of when he was twenty four. but now he was expected to work with other people to kill his teacher, of all people, and how could he be expected to deal with that? tommas wasn't going to disappoint his family and straight out quit, but he didn't really like the idea of killing someone this soon either. tommas still doesn't know whether he should sit back and let someone else do the job or actually make an effort to please his family, but even though it's causing him a lot of stress and indecision, why should he let anyone else know what he was thinking? so he decided to continue separating himself, but try to work out a solution to the whole mafia hunt problem at the same time.
