Artemis is eccentric to say the least. He tends to cross dress and wear make-up but he does not wish to be a girl. He simply adores the style. This makes him a rather open-minded individual and he doesn't judge people if they're gay, straight, transgender, or what. He figures that it's their life and they can do whatever they want with it. He expects the same kind of judge free mentality when it comes to other's viewing his life as well. Being a cross dresser and having no preference to gender when it comes to who he finds attractive, he doesn't want a miss Sad Sally telling him that everything he does is wrong. If he wanted that kind of abuse, he would have stayed in Greece with his family. His confident and somewhat vain personality won't allow him to be around those kind of negative minds.
Despite being raised in a rather poor family, Artemis has rather expensive taste. He wants nothing less than the best and can have a sort of pompous attitude. He's also rather hypocritical since he despises those that think the world revolves around them. He's also rather indecisive yet hates people who can't make up their minds. And why he hates people who are possessive over their partners, he's extremely possessive himself. Artemis, frankly, is the definition of hypocrisy and no matter how many times he's told that, he refuses to believe it. Being as stubborn as a mule may help with avoiding peer pressure but it has it's downsides, as well.
However, Artemis isn't all bad. He's optimistic and refuses to let anyone ruin his mood and has a very charismatic and charming way with words. He's rather friendly and affectionate unless you annoy him or take something he wants. He's not afraid to dress how he wants nor is he ashamed of himself or his family. Though easily distracted, he is responsible. However, he does have a promiscuous air about him and he's rather flirtatious. He's not afraid to invade someone's personal space. And even though Artemis dresses like a girl, he's daring and independent; he can take care of himself.

Even though he was born and raised in Greece, he's hardly even half Greek. His mother's family decided it would be a good idea to move to Greece since they had a fascination with the country and his mother just never left. The tradition of naming children after a Greek God or Goddess started with his grandmother. She named her daughter Hera and therefore, she named her children Artemis, Aries, and Athena.
Artemis is the eldest child of the Monroe family. He was born into the rather poor family on February thirteenth. His biological father left Hera not too long after Artemis was born because he couldn't handle the stress of an unplanned child, thus leaving Hera alone to take care of the baby on her own. From the stress of this, his mother was often sick and unable to hold down a job for very long. The best she could do for an extended period of time was to prostitute herself in order to make money. Artemis was either left in the care of his grandparents (which happened most often or locked in the bathroom when Hera brought her "clients" over. This continued for years, even after Hera gave birth to Aries when Artemis was three.
By the time Artemis was eight, Aries was five, and their third sibling, Athena who was two, Hera had stopped bringing her work home. His grandparents refused to help their irresponsible daughter any longer and he had to take care of himself and his younger siblings. This gave them full control of the house. This was also probably the time Artemis started to realize he liked girl's clothing. While his mother was away, he would dress up himself and his siblings in her clothes in order to keep them entertained. While his brother grew out of it, he continued to dress like that as he became older. This lead him into a life of bullying as he went through school and caused him to become secluded. That was when his love for art was born.
By the time he was seventeen, he grew a rather I-don't-give-a-shit attitude and became more like he is now. For years he had been saving up every bit of money he could.
