Archer stared hard at the cashier, who also shared the same expression, and his forced smile had turned into a scowl. People around them gave sideways glances; the people waiting for Archer to order exchanged worried looks. The whole cafe was quiet, like time had stood completely still just in that little store. How did I ever come across this imbecile in this damn cafe? Archer thought irritably.
This morning, before the sun had even risen, Archer was woken up with the loud sounds of his brothers' snoring. Half asleep and half awake, he made his way to the bathroom and flicked on the lights; with a simple brush of a comb, his brown hair was perfectly straight for the day ahead. Archer gave a last look at himself in the mirror and smiled approvingly. When he finally got himself in the kitchen and opened the fridge, he gave an impatient sigh and threw it closed again. "No damn food," muttered Archer, hungrier than ever. Though the cold outside was just too painful and the wind was just as merciless, Archer forced himself to throw on a sweat shirt, a trench coat, and slip in to his sneakers; wrap himself in a scarf and walk towards the closest cafe possible. Honestly, he would've starved the whole time until his brothers had woken, but knowing what they did last night, Archer was definitely going to die the moment he would ask them to make breakfast. Luckily, the sun was peeking through the gray puffs of clouds to light Archer's way to the shops, which were up and running already. Relieved that his walk was for nothing, he quickly ran to the entrance before the huge crowd of hungry people around the corner had beaten him there.
When he entered the cafe, it was like a blast of honey and coffee, but mostly coffee. Archer scanned the place and was happy to see that there were a minimum of five people until he instantly got in line. French girls giggled shyly and pointed at Archer, who blushed as they giggled even more; a bunch of thin French guys behind were giving him the dead-eye that made Archer even more uncomfortable. When it was his turn to order, he straightened his posture; drew in a steady breath; said, "I want a banana-nut muffin and a medium cup of coffee with sweetener." in perfect Scottish-English. The cashier, who was a lanky man with a curly mustache, gave Archer a weird look and said, "Que voulez-vous?" Like that, Archer snapped.
"WHAT THE HELL, MAN! I WANT A FREAKIN' BANANA-NUT MUFFIN AND A FREAKIN' MEDIUM-SIZED COFFEE!" yelled Archer in an impatient tone, "You Frenchies! Didn't they ever teach you a single word in English?"
And that was how Archer Lee Newlanders had landed himself on the wrong side of the cashier. Evidently, the cashier wasn't on Archer's good side either; he was glad that the cafe was quiet, it gave him a moment to feel the anger overwhelm the embarrassment. Just when he was about to jump over the counter and swing his fists on 'moustachio', a small hand had gripped his shoulder tightly and tugged him into an embrace. Startled, he jumped back and hit his waist on the corner of the counter but didn't howl in pain, for he was too ecstatic to see the very person in front of him.
"Whoa," said Archer in amazement, "that you?"

Rosslynn felt horrible that morning. Connor hadn't contacted her all month, not even for Christmas. Maybe she had gone too far to fast with him and scared him off. Sighing, she slowly got out of bed and put on her normal attire, a dark shirt and dark jeans. The musician did her hair in loose ringlets. Her make up was also slightly dark. It fit her mood well. Her stomach growled lightly, but she knew her cats needed to eat before her. So, she hurried and got their empty food bowls and put food in them. “Good babies. Eat up.” she said. Of course, if she was around people, they would hear a different language. Since her main language was Scottish Gaelic, she spoke differently around her family or by herself. It was just how she was.
After she finished, she grabbed her long black coat and headed out the door. She boots made a noise on the sidewalk and snow gently. Though she hardly noticed it. She walked into a small coffee shop soon to hear a male voice she recognized all to well. Her widened eyes followed the floor until she seen a pair of shoes. Slowly, they went up to see a dark haired male she knew all to well. Quickly, she made her way over to him, moving in front of people. The other adults and teens she moved past cursed at her, but she didn't care. Her small hand grabbed the male and pulled him into an embrace. Rosslynn felt the male jump back, but then speak in an amazed voice.
She smiled happily, tears starting to form in her eyes. “Aye, Archer....I-It's me.....It's me.” Rosslynn spoke as her voice broke. Then, she yet again hugged the taller male and sobbed slightly. He was just the person she needed right at that point in her life. Archer, her brother, and her were reunited again at last.

When Rosslynn ran up to him for a longer hug and Archer heard the break in her voice, he couldn't help but feel a bit awkward. "Uh," said he, "Ross, you're making a scene, y'know." People stared at them intently, which made Archer blush even harder; in fraction of a second, he freed himself from her embrace and gripped her wrist tightly and wiped the watery eyes of his older sister. "C'mon," said Archer, as he shoved the angry French people aside and rushed out of the cafe, shooting a glance of hate at the handful of people who swore at him in English.
As he ushered her out the cafe and swung around the corner, Archer finally gave the last embrace and smiled happily at Rosslynn. "Where have you been?" said he in a soft voice and backed away to study the changes. "You're gorgeous, by the way." He stroke Rosslynn's shining brown locks playfully and frowned when his hand was caught in a tangle; he looked at her, tilting one head to the side. "Is it your boyfriend?" he asked ever so bluntly. Archer, who didn't want to stand in the middle of the sidewalk where people began to rush in for breakfast, had found the closest bench and patted the empty spot next to it for Rosslynn. The French girls that were in the cafe earlier had followed them out and were obviously hiding in the bushes far in the right, where Archer and Rosslynn were. He gave Ross a worried look and glanced at the girls to signal what was happening. "They probably think we're a couple or something," said Archer, who hated attention, in a squeaky-panicky voice. "By the way, don't come over. It's a bit hellish over there right now. And I don't really want to go back. I really don't wanna go back." Although the memories of last night were a bit vague, the thought of it had sent a chill down his back. "I think Avis drugged me or something, but I'm pretty positive that last wasn't my proudest." He looked up at Rosslynn and managed a smirk. "Don't worry. I don't think it was all that bad, like trying to drown myself in the tub or something."
"So what's up?"

Rosslynn sniffled as she looked at her younger brother. He spoke about her making a scene, but she couldn't help it. He took her hand and she was pulled out of the cafe. They went around a corner and she was embraced by her brother once more and she sobbed slightly. She hated being like this in front of Archer. But he was probably the only one who wouldn't say 'I told you so'. He asked here where she had been and she sighed. She turned slightly and pointed to a big apartment building. “I have been there. In my apartment. Going to school for music.” she said gently. He complimented her and she smiled. Oh, how she missed Archer. “Thank you, Archer...but...I don't feel gorgeous....” she spoke, looking down slightly.
He asked if it was her boyfriend. And without noticing, tears started to cascade down her face again and she nodded looking down. She walked with Archer and sat down on the bench beside him. She sobbed for a moment and too some breathes to calm down. “He...he disappeared....and...hasn't contacted me....at all....I'm sure I did something wrong....” her voice broke and she sobbed again. Of course, she heard what Archer had said about the other girls thinking they were a couple, but she didn't care at that point. He then mentioned for her not to come over. Blinking she looked up, make up running down her face. Avis? Into drugs? That didn't sound like her brother's at all.
“You can stay with me......I don't mind...” she said with a smile to her little brother./justify]

"Oh... really?" said Archer in his best sympathetic voice he could manage. "It's not you, Ross. It can't ever be you that's the reason. You're beautiful and sweet; kind; and unique. And I'm not saying that because I'm your brother. Honest." He made a childish gesture of crossing his heart as a promise of telling the truth. "Besides, if he thinks you're not good enough for him or something then let him go and jump off Mount Everest, he deserves it. Don't worry. Avis and I are here, aren't we?" Archer smiled brightly at Rosslynn in hopes that it would cheer her up just a little bit. He wrapped one arm around his crying sister and used his exposing sleeve of his sweat shirt and used it to gently wipe the running makeup off her face, wiping away the tears too. "Why are you even wearing makeup so early in the morning?" said Archer, smirking. "If you knew that you were gonna bust down crying somewhere, then at least bring tissues." Hopefully that was worth a chuckle, since humor wasn't Archer's forte; then again, talking to people weren't either.
When she said he could stay at her apartment for a while, Archer managed a moment of laughter and patted Rosslynn's back, as if telling her that it wasn't that bad. "C'mon! Chin up! This is the city of love and lights! If that scum doesn't come back begging on his knees for forgiveness, then find a better guy. I bet there's plenty of handsome and kind young men out there for you. And are willing do anything to make you," - he put his index fingers on each sides of his cheeks and clenched his teeth together and curled the sides of his lips -, "SCHMILE!"

Ross nodded gently as Archer spoke. Looking away as he gave a speech about how it could never be her, she could easily beg to differ. The young woman then glanced as her brother crossed his heart. She rolled her eyes a little at the gesture, but she smiled softly. He was right. If Connor didn't think she wasn't good enough for him, he could jump off Mount Everest. But Ross knew she didn't want that. Not at all. Feeling her brother wrap his arm around her, Rosslynn watched him bring up his sleeve and wipe her tears. Chuckling a little at her brother's question, she sniffled and she opened her mouth. “I wear make up everyday now, Archer. I'm a woman...I need to look nice.” she said gently. But, Ross giggled a little, feeling slightly better than how she felt before. All thanks to her little brother. However, he was taller than her by a foot or so. So she couldn't really consider him her 'little' brother anymore.
She leaned against her brother gently, feeling his body move as he laughed and patted her back. He began to speak again. Paris, the city of love and lights. He was true about that. But there is much more to Paris than just that. 'With love comes either happiness or sorrow. With light's comes a bright light or a very dim one. Not everything is happy and special about Paris.' she thought, continuing to listen to the younger male next to her. Rosslynn looked at Archer's face and started giggling. “Archer, you look extremely silly.” Rosslynn told her brother, trying to stop the giggles coming from her.
When they stopped, she sighed and gave a small smile. “Thank you, Archer. You cheered me up. I was really missing you and the others.”
