HISTORY, Sasha is an only child, and comes from an upper-class family. Her extended family is very close and supportive. The majority of the adults are doctors, lawyers, engineers, things like that. A lot was expected of her, even when she was very young. She was sent to the best pre-school, and private schools. Everybody had an opinion on what she should be doing with her future, and what she should be doing to prepare for that future. She didn't have the confrontational and proud flair that plagued the rest of her family, so she simply handled the pressure and adjusted as necessary. She loved them, but found her relatives oppressive and exhausting at times. They were intense people of extremely strong character, who viewed planning everything with the utmost seriousness.
The only person in her family who didn't constantly demand 110% from her was her uncle, who shared her more laid-back outlook on life and had gone through the same thing growing up. She spent many summers visiting him while her parents went globe-trotting. It was during these visits that she befriended one Gareth Nash Brace. He was in Orlando visiting his father, who happened to work with her uncle. Seeking refuge from his apparently damaged living situation, he would spend the majority of his time with her. She was happy to open up her house (or rather, her uncle's house) to him. Even after he stopped coming to the United States they kept in touch through video chats and email.
Sasha had a passion for art, specifically painting. While her parents regarded it as merely a hobby, she wanted to pursue her talent seriously. They were resistant, but this was something she would not budge on. There weren't a lot of things that Sasha was adamant about. She found it easier on everybody if she just shrugged and accepted things. She wasn't weak so much as apathetic. Her art, though, was dear to her heart. It lent her a kind of escapism. And, finally finding something that gave her so much pleasure, she summoned up some of her Hawkins strength and insisted that she was going to an academy in Paris to study art. With much grumbling and blaming of her uncle for the supposed bad influence, they relented.
