when ella was young, her mother wanted a preforming child. from the age of four she was in dance classes, preforming with little troupes around new york and taking every lesson she could get in voice and acting. her mother's parents resented the arts, and never let her join them, so she only wanted her child to have what she didn't. it made her sort of a maniac though, and when ella suggested that, while she enjoyed the preforming arts, she maybe could like something other than preforming for her future. her mother certainly wasn't having it, so ella kept quiet for years. however, she kept a lot of notebooks, full of sketches and drawings from the times she would zone out in class. they were mostly people posing in outfits, little designs she made herself. when she took an art elective her freshman year, a teacher suggested she look into fashion, saying she had a knack for style and creating it. ella never noticed it before, and started looking at herself and realizing that she did always add flair to what she wore: she never just wore clothes. she put them together. she started fashion/sewing classes without her mother's knowledge, and when she was offered a fashion scholarship with a full ride, she decided it was what she wanted to do. her mother was displeased, saying she belonged on stage and doing anything else would only dissatisfy her, but ella got a kick out of clothes, and for once went against her mother and went with her heart. now, she owns a fashion line in new york, one that's well known in the area. lately, she's been looking to make it global, and is traveling to the fashion capital itself to make it happen. she's determined that if she can go this far, she can go further. but her mother's wishes and the fact that she never talks to her anymore still haunts her... she'd never show it, but it does.
