---------------- PERSONALITY ---------------
LIKES, writing, keeping to herself, outdoors, all seasons, singing in the shower, quiet spaces, being alone, music, muse
DISLIKES, singing in front of people, being disturbed, crowded places, loudness, no muse, cigarettes, alcohol, being social, pressure, disappointing people, being yelled at
FEARS, singing in front of people, being kicked out of la lumineuse, crowded spaces
PERSONALITY, josie is painfully shy. she prefers the peace and quiet. she loves being left alone so she could concentrate on her music. she's that girl that's always hiding behind her hair and never utters a sound unless she's forced to answer you. she absolutely despises crowded spaces, but that could be because she's deathly claustrophobic. she often feels sick if she's in a room where everyone's looking at her. she has stage fright, and hates being the center of attention. something about everybody looking at her makes her self conscious and uncomfortable. she is very antisocial so it would explain her lack of friends. she was always busy studying and writing her own music to really make any friends. however she's rather sweet. she's kind to everyone she talks to. she's extremely polite and would never back talk you. she's a bit spineless because she doesn't take people yelling at her too well. she's quite sensitive and absolutely hates it if she gets yelled at or disappoints someone.

---------------- HISTORY ---------------
FATHER, joshua lington
MOTHER, sophia lington
OTHER FAMILY, none
HISTORY, sophia and joshua met in their last year of university. you could say it was love at first sight for the both of them. she was the popular girl and he was the shy nerd that could never get her. but somehow, he did. he had won over her heart, and despite their parents attempt to separate them, they still stayed together. a year later they were happily married and honeymooned in london, england. the loved the place so much they decided they'd stay and london and make a living for themselves, perhaps even start a family. things had been hard for them at first. neither of their parents wanted to help finance them, and so they started from the scraps and built up a small restaurant later on. business had been great in the beginning, but it was starting to die down. and on top of the already starting finance problem, sophia soon grew pregnant three years after their marriage.
nine months later, out came a baby girl named josie alexandra lington. neither of the two had wanted to keep the baby because they wouldn't be able to afford having the baby around. abortion was out of the question though, so they planned on putting the baby up for adoption. however, when joshua first laid eyes on his baby girl, he knew he couldn't give her away. despite sophia's protest, joshua promise he'd try to come up with more money and that he'd take care of josie. and so she grew up to be their only child, but she was awfully shy and quiet. still, both of them loved their baby girl. after joshua came up with a new menu, business started to pick up a little again. just enough for all three of them to get by. and soon after, josie started to help around at the restaurant when her parents had to get to their other job.
it wasn't until josie turned eleven that she first started being interested in music. she was at the mall with her mom one day and they were holding some sort of benefit concert. the girl on stage looked like she was having so much fun. the celebrity had an amazing voice and when she laid eyes on josie and smiled at her, she automatically decided she wanted to be just like that girl. when she was at home alone, she would sing along to the music playing on the radio. she loved singing. she loved the way music made her feel. there were so many different emotions in different genres of songs. however, she didn't start writing her own music until she was thirteen, when she first started in high school. being the shy and timid girl, she never really had much experience in making friends. she was often ignored and overlooked as if she was invisible. and one day, she felt that she's had enough, so she poured out her emotions by writing some stuff on her notebook.
at first, it had meant nothing but just words on a page, but then she started fooling around with it, played some notes on the piano and guitar and before she knew it, it had turned into her very first song. writing music and singing was her escape. it was how she communicated. it was how she expressed her feelings. soon she just stopped trying to make friends or socialize. she hid behind her notebooks to write her music and occasionally other books to study. she had heard about la lumineuse and had always wanted to go there, but she knew that tuition would be too expensive, and her parents would never be able to afford it. they were already working so hard, but she didn't have the heart to tell her parents that she wanted to be a singer, so she kept it a secret.
but she swore to herself that when she turned eighteen, she'd tell her parents. she'd come clean and whether they wanted to send her to la lumineuse would be entirely up to them. she had expected her parents to tell her that they'd love to send her there, but they couldn't afford it. however, they had been really supportive of what she wanted to do and even saved up all their money to send her there. she had never been more grateful for her parents in her life. she felt bad for leaving them behind. who would help out at the restaurant? who would help out at home? they had promised her they'd be fine though. and so, josie sent her audition tape to la lumineuse and got accepted on her first try. she packed her bags and left to stay at paris on her own.
upon first arrival, she was nervous, but also very excited. she had never been anywhere outside of london or even lived alone, and yet, here she was, alone in paris, and attending la lumineuse. she got herself settled and attended her classes daily, still painfully shy and quiet. when her teacher first asked her to sing, she had been reluctant but stood up in front of the class. although, when she looked up and saw that everyone was looking at her expectantly, she froze. she choked up and ran out of the class before she threw up in the girl's washroom. one particular teacher had threatened to fail her if she didn't at least sing something, and so she set up and private meeting with him and sang. it had been extremely hard for her and she had to start over multiple times. she was sick, but eventually, she had sang for him. even though she ended up running away afterwards to throw up again.
