-- today was not going very well at all. so far she was sure she had bombed two tests, and her homework seemed like it was taking forever to finish. and to be honest, she was wallowing in self pity. maureen was icing down her ankles and feet as she laid in bed. dance had been really strenuous today, and she seriously wondering if she pulled something. there was nothing better than lying in bed and creeping on facebook while everyone was out having fun. it was friday night, she should have something to do; and she usually did. she had no one to blame for this but herself though. maureen grabbed her phone and searched through her contacts. scarlett! it was sad that she couldn't remember the last time that she had hung out with her best friend. me + you = partying @ pure. sound good? meet ya there :) <3 maureen her face wore a smile as she sent the message.
-- maureen closed her laptop, but then her eyes fell upon her icy ankles and feet. nothing a couple ibuprofen wouldn't help, right? she had dealt with these things before. it wasn't that bad, just a little swelling. heels wouldn't help, but she couldn't very well wear flats or sandals to a club. she hobbled over to her purse and grabbed a half-empty bottle of water and swallowed a couple pills. next was her closet. maureen had no idea what she should wear, and just settled for a dark blue one shouldered dress, with nude colored pumps. she slipped on a couple silver bangles and secured her hair back into a loose pony to the side. she hated when her hair got in her face while she was dancing. it had to be one of her biggest pet peeves. that's why she had a stash of hair ties in her dance bag.
-- her cell phone chirped as she dialed the number of the cab company. no way was she walking in these heels, and she wasn't going to take her car. not when there was a possibility of her getting deliciously drunk tonight. she always planned for the worst. maureen wasn't about to leave her car somewhere and have to retrieve it in the morning, and she wasn't going to risk driving and harming herself and others. she'd rather not die tonight, or any other night for that matter. pretty soon, the cab pulled up and she jumped inside, giving the cabbie the address to pure. he just nodded and began driving off. maureen checked her cell phone, but no message. hopefully scarlett wasn't busy or anything. she'd just have to try someone else. her clutch contained a pack of gum, some lip gloss and some cash. nothing else would fit. even then she had to shove her cell phone in it to fit. they needed to design a cute portable purse with more damn room. who even got to decide clutches had to be micro sized?
-- the cab dropped her off in front of the club. maureen smiled playfully to herself as she saw the line. it definitely was a hot club, and seemed to be the place to be tonight. bouncers had a soft spot for hot girls, so she was able to get inside in no time. all she had to do was whisper in her sexy language and flash her big brown eyes and she was in. simple as that. parisian guys were so easy to seduce. the bass pounded through the floor, and she couldn't help but sway her hips to the beat as she made her way to the bar to wait for scarlett. she needed something to drink, and fast. just something sweet and fun. there wasn't a need to get into the hard stuff just yet. normally she didn't go for the hard liquor. just something strong enough to get her tips and give her the ability to let loose and not care about what anyone though of her, or if she was being too loud and obnoxious. tonight, she decided, was all about having fun and letting go.

That night, Scarlett was in the park just in front of her apartment. That was one of the good things about Paris, there were a lot of parks around which mean that Scarlett could take pictures in different seasons, different weathers and in different parts of the day, it made her work seem incredible. Wrapped up in a pair of jeans, a top and a long jacket, she was sitting on the bench for a good few minutes, using her camera to take photos of different things. It was funny how everything seemed so much better in the dark, it was incredible to see animals move in their own habitat, and she loved animals. Photography was the best thing that came into her life, it gave her an outlet for her anger and mixed up feelings and so it made her feel happy, relaxed and perfectly great. A lot of people didn’t do photography, she knew not everyone in the world would love that subject but it meant something to her and she didn’t think it was all too bad. Sure there were a lot of homework from the Academy, and sometimes the teachers stifled her work, trying to get her to work in a straight direction when all Scarlett wanted to do was work in a sort of spiral, but at least her talents were recognised.
A hand moved as her phone buzzed besides her, making a loud noise as it was on the bench, she placed her camera on her lap gently, making sure that it wouldn’t fall. Opening up the message, she smiled as she saw a text from one of her best friends; Maureen. And she wanted to party? Scarlett was so definitely going to be there. Sending a quick reply back, Scarlett got up off of the bench, placing her phone in the back pocket of her jeans and ran across the road, up the elevator and into her apartment as quickly as possible. It was sort of cold outside so a quick shower was needed just to warm her muscles up. She hadn’t been out in a few nights, worrying about how her pictures weren’t going to be good enough for her teachers but she could at least have on e night off right? Coming out of the bathroom, her hair wrapped up in a towel, she opened up her cupboard, looking for something to wear.
Settling on a simple, plain back dress and high black pumps, she quickly put them on while in the process of blow drying out her hair. Her hair was naturally curly and so naturally, after coming out of a shower it was always messy and frizzy but she liked it just like that. A big head full of hair was better than nothing at all and she was grateful to have lots of hair. While putting on different bracelets, a watch and some earrings, she began to curl her hair and put make up on at the same time. It was very easy for her to multitask whenever she was busy, sure sometimes she lost her focus on everything but she could at least get things done in time. While finishing off her makeup she called a cab, not wanting to walk anywhere for a while, especially not with the heels she had. Heels like that were only made to make girls look gorgeous in, not for walking in and that was a fact.
As soon as she reached the club she was inside in a matter of time, bouncers knew her a lot; she was always coming in and out with Anouk and with other friends so they allowed her in easily with a wink. She loved being able to control a lot of guys, especially when they were stupid enough to fall for it, but she hardly did that; she did sometimes have some sort of compassion for them...sometimes. Walking towards the bar, she eyes a lot of people, most eyeing her back, she smirked. Who cared what people thought of her? She was here to have fun with her friend, she didn’t need anything else. Reaching the bar, she looked out for Maureen and smiled when she finally saw her. Teetering in her heels, she walked towards her. “Hey girlfriend, where’s my drink huh?” Laughing, she put her arms around Maureen for a hug. “I haven’t seen you in so long!”

-- a smile formed on maureen's lips as she heard a very familiar voice. scarlett. before she could say anything, or even put her drink down, her best friend was hugging her. maureen hugged her the best she could with a drink in her hand. the smile on her face was becoming a permanent feature. she had really missed scarlett, and their wonderful times together. girl time was definitely moving up about 5 spots on maureen's "to-do" list. she chuckled as scarlett asked where her drink was at. "just tell me what you want!" maureen nodded in agreement. "i know! it's been way to long."
-- it was hard balancing dance and studying and her friends. she really needed to manage her time better. maureen was going to try her very hardest to schedule more time for her friends. missing a day of extra practice, and maybe a weekend here or there wasn't going to hurt anything. by over practicing, she would be more prone to hurting herself, and hurting her friendships. she was very fortunate, however, to have such wonderful and understanding friends. they never got upset if she had to practice or study more. her aunt would kill her if her grades started slipping because of partying, or if she didn't practice her dancing enough.
-- maureen tipped back her glass and finished off the rest of her drink, and set it on the bar behind her. her eyes were scanning the club, trying to spot some hot looking guys for her and scarlett. there was nothing like some hot guys to play with at the club. but for now, all maureen really wanted were some drinks. "how have you been?!" she asked happily. her friend looked great. maureen turned around and she motioned for two drinks from the bartender and slapped down some cash, handing one drink to scarlett and taking a sip of the other. it was something a bit fruity, but not too sweet and it went down easily.
-- she could feel her brain starting to get a little fuzzy. she really had to avoid getting anything more than a lot tipsy. being drunk was not her thing. she just needed enough alcohol to feel good and be able to let loose without being sloppy drunk and obnoxious. maureen didn't expect scarlett to baby sit her when she was drunk either. if you couldn't handle yourself when you were drunk, then you shouldn't get drunk. it was just a bad scene. she wanted to remember and enjoy her time with her friend and at the club.
ooc;; once again sorry it took so long. and i've been kind of sick so quality isn't the best either ><

Hugs were always a good thing to make someone feel better, Scarlett loved hugs, it was just nice to hug someone, feel the warmth on their body transfer to you, it was as if hugs gave healing powers or something like that and it was just really a nice feeling. She eyed the drink in Maureen’s hand and nodded her head towards it. “I want what you’re having, it looks good!” She smiled at her friend, it was nice to have some girl time, just to have fun with them and do whatever you wanted instead of having to stay at home and work on a photography project.
She wasn’t at all worried about finishing off her project, when she was drunk she seemed to have quite a bit of muse, not that she ever took her camera with her when she was out and about in a club, the first time she did her camera had been ruined, so that wasn’t going to happen ever again; she just couldn’t afford to lose any of her good cameras. She had at least finished a half of her photography project, she was making an animation with pictures, something that told a story and the day she was given the task, the very same day she had a million ideas running through her mind for it. It was sometimes good to be very creative because it got your mind working a lot.
Her eyes scanned the club the same time as Maureen did, it was as if both knew what the other was looking for, it was very fun but the night was young and they had enough time to find someone to play around with. “I’ve been good; you know just being worked to death, how about you huh? How’s the dancing going for you? Are you ever going to let me see you rehearse? Or come to one of your shows? Because I’d love to you know!” Even though she hadn’t even drunk a sip yet, Scarlett was acting how she would if she was drunk; it was funny because there really wasn’t much of a difference. “Thanks for the drink.” She spoke as the drink was handed towards her by Maureen. Tilting her head back, she took a long gulp of it and let the cool liquid run through her body.
She took a longer sip, letting the drink finish and smiled at Maureen. “Girl, we really need to catch up, you don’t know what I’ve been going through, nothing! Nothing at all! That’s what; my life is turning very boring, I would have been at home doing nothing if you hadn’t texted me!” The drink wasn’t making her fuzzy yet, it always depended on what drink she’d have which would make her mind fuzzy or not. She smiled at her friend, tracing a finger round the rim of the glass. “You know, I really need to find a guy tonight, you have to choose me one, ok?”

-- the drinks tasted just as good as they looked. scarlett was definitely going to like it. she handed her friend the glass, then taking a sip from her new one. with every sip, her mind cleared of every troubling thought. maureen liked to drink because she relaxed and was able to forget some things. things most people didn't know. it wasn't that she hid it from them, or kept it a secret, it just wasn't necessary to share those things. it always seemed people who didn't know her very well always treated her differently. so it was just better to not share. maureen took another long swig and savored the fruity alcoholic taste. maureen wondered how people came up with these drinks. she had never been good at that. she always had to find recipes for drinks.
-- her and scarlett were a lot alike. maureen just grinned when she noticed her friend scanning the club as she did. scarlett was a great party buddy. "good! yeah, i know how you feel. and that dancing is pretty intense, but i love it." maureen chuckled, and she smiled when scarlett said she wanted to watch her rehearse or come see a show. "i'll definitely let you know! you can come watch me anytime, i'll text you when i have class, or when i just go to the studio to mess around. maybe i can teach you a few moves." that would be exciting. maureen loved introducing people to the world of dance. it was an incredibly great way to express yourself, and for those who already had something like that, it was an awesome addition.
-- maureen just smiled. "no problem." scarlett obviously liked the drink as much as maureen did, finishing it in two drinks. she nodded her head at scarlett's statement. "i couldn't agree more. all i've been doing is studying and dancing. this is like, my first weekend out in well, too damn long!" she exclaimed dramatically. she couldn't even remember her last time hitting a club or party. it wasn't a bad thing necessarily, but she was feeling sluggish and tired. partying with scarlett tonight had definitely boosted her morale and mood. maureen realized how easy it was to get burnt out on something. she loved dancing, and everything about it, but she knew what would happen if she devoted every waking moment to it. it wouldn't be fun anymore, it was getting to be more like a chore as of late and that's not what maureen wanted.
-- an eyebrow rose on maureen's face, followed by a devilish grin. "it's as if you read my mind. i'll pick one for you, but only if you pick one for me." maureen chuckled. this was going to be fun. already her eyes were scanning for a suitable match for her friend. nothing less than the best. maureen was already making a list of traits that the mystery guy must have, and character traits. she wouldn't hook her friend up with someone she wouldn't hook up with herself, and she knew scarlett would feel the same.

Taking her drink happily, Scarlett knew she made the right decision to come out tonight. Even though she was a partier, there was also an extent to which she would go. She loved to party, it freed her mind, released her insides and let her true self come out, not that she was anything fake really, but the ‘true’ self that came out was the even more happy go lucky personality that she somehow managed to keep in whenever she was with people; it was a surprise that it didn’t just come bubbling out of her like everything else did. For instance, if she had a project due the next day or if she had something important to do which she knew she couldn’t handle with a hangover, she would deny the opportunity to go out. Yes, she was reckless but she was responsible too.
Taking a long sip of the drink she let out a giggle as a tingling sensation ran down her throat. The fruity taste was amazing, it made her want to jump up and down already as her tendons began to unwind and allowed her to really enjoy the atmosphere without having anything to worry about by the end of the night. She laughed, “Teach me a few moves? Darling I won’t be even able to shake a hand, that’s how terrible I am at dancing.” Shaking her head as if Maureen had just said the silliest thing in the world, she also let out a little scoff; but it was playful, not scornful like a lot of people did. Scarlett didn’t think that she was all too good at dance, she had never tried to move her body to see if she could, for her photography and styles were just everything to her.
Letting out a laugh, Scarlett nodded her head and downed the rest of her drink, letting out a relieved sigh and jumped up when a song came on. “You know honey, the best way to grab a guys attention is to get up and dance. Go on, let’s show them the moves that you have, hopefully they’re drunk enough to not witness my awkward wobbles.” She laughed, putting a hand out and grabbing Maureen’s, pulling the girl to her feet and then dragging her to the dance floor. Laughing, she began to sway her hips as sexily as she could, she wasn’t the best dance but she could make herself look presentable at least. Looking around the room she chuckled and looked at her friend. “The guy in the corner’s staring at you darling…maybe you should go for him? He could be nice and not a potential drug dealer.”

-- maureen grinned at scarlett's giggle. tonight was going to be so much fun. her foot tapped in time with the music, it was a habit of hers. she really wanted to be dancing right now, but talking and drinking with scarlett was just as fun. they'd make their way out onto the floor in time. had she heard her friend correctly? surely she wasn't that bad. maureen couldn't really remember one way or another about scarlett's dancing. "scarlett dear, you can't be that bad. i don't remember you being bad." maureen told her honestly. then again, when they partied, maureen usually forgot some parts of the night.
-- sipping the cool liquid, maureen felt comfortable here. staring into her glass, she tipped it back and finished off, shortly after scarlett finished hers. she couldn't help but laugh. "alright. i'm sure they'll think your hot no matter what." maureen let her friend lead her onto the dance floor. this was really where she belonged. dancing was her thing. she looked at scarlett, swaying her hips. if that was the best she could do, then they really were in trouble. maureen started with her hips as well, just getting the beat, letting her feelings slowly come out. slowly she became more relaxed, more fluid in her movements.
-- "perhaps. but we need to find you someone first. or i could just bring him over and maybe he has a hot friend?" maureen said playfully as she glanced around the room, trying to find a potential dance partner for scarlett. her eyes landed on the man in the corner, he was checking her out. she threw a playful wink his way, letting him know she was interested. if he came over, then great, if not, they would just have to find someone else. maureen hated leaving her friend to go check out a guy, especially when scarlett hadn't found one. as her eyes continued to scan the now crowded club, her eyes yet again landed on someone. "oo! hottie at twelve o'clock. and girl, he's definitely undressing you with his eyes." maureen laughed, then nudged her friend playfully.
ooc; so sorry it took so long, and so sorry it's really crappy. please forgive me? lol

Girl time was always needed once in a while even if you didn’t think you needed it. There was only so much you could take without having to tell your own best friend about it, Scarlett always told Maureen about everything, everything that happened in her life and everything that probably would, the only things she didn’t tell her about was her past, the abuse she received from her mother; that was something she never did, and never would tell anyone about in fear of them treating her differently. All she wanted was to be treated like Scarlett, the fun loving friend who could make a person smile with her words if she wanted to or who could annoy a person when she wanted to. She rolled her eyes, “OK, I’m not that bad, but come on, compared to you I’m probably very horrible, no doubt about that my dear!”
Scarlett rolled her eyes, for someone who could seem so confident in life and make her way through a lot of boys, Scarlett wasn’t very confident in herself or her looks. She loved vintage stuff, something that wasn’t really seen much in the modern society these days, she was different to most girls, so she wasn’t as hot as she thought she could be, but she nodded her head at Maureen’s words and flashed her a smile. Today was not a day to be upset about being not good looking; it was to party with her best friend and make everyone smile.
Laughing, Scarlett nodded her head. “Why do I always have to go first? But you’re right; we should find a couple of best friends, that’ll do us for the night...” Winking at her friend, Scarlett twirled herself and came to a stop to look at Maureen, letting a giggle escape from her mouth. Even though she had one drink, the lights and the fluorescents as well as the mixture of the drinks were already trying to distort her mind. She laughed as she was being nudged and playfully looked at the boy that Maureen said was ‘undressing her with his eyes.’ “Oh girl, he’s hot!” She winked at him playfully, and looked back at Maureen. “These guys are really perverts, but it makes me feel good!”

-- maureen laughed. "only because i'm a dance major. and you definitely aren't as bad as you think you are. besides, most of these people are drunk anyway. they would think a tree has good dance moves." she said honestly, laughing. it was true, though. who really cared about the way someone danced anyway, even if they were sober? all the would see is a cute girl having a fun night out. sometimes scarlett was too hard on herself. like any girl, she didn't see what others saw.
-- "don't roll your eyes at me." maureen told her friend playfully. she knew how hard it was to be a girl and feel completely confident in yourself and your looks. maureen struggled with it as well. if you dressed different, or wore something out of season, you were secretly judged and stared at. girls were very mean at times. luckily, maureen didn't really care what others thought. she was used to being in front of large audiences in silly costumes. being a dancer had more perks than people originally thought.
-- maureen laughed along with scarlett. "because i say so." she nodded in agreement. friends were always better because they'd be more apt to stay in a group, until the night ended anyway. she was glad scarlett was on the same page. she couldn't help but smile at her friend's giggly mood tonight. they hadn't even had that much to drink! that was the greatest thing about being with friends; sometimes just being with them made you feel a little tipsy. "i told you!" luckily, there were a few hot guys in the club tonight. sometimes there wasn't any eye candy. "oh i know!" a laugh escaped. when was the last time that maureen had this much fun, or laughed this much? it had certainly been too long.
-- "let's dance and see if these guys decide to join us." maureen winked, and threw a smile of her guy's direction. he was still checking her out. surely he would come over, they always did. maureen swung her hips and pulled out some of her hottest moves. "i still don't see how you think you're a bad dancer, but just follow me, just get crazy!" a large smile spread across her glossed lips. had she already thought that this night was going to be great? well, she was most definitely positive that it was.
ooc;; ack, this is horrible. just seems like if it's not one thing it's another. lol.

Rolling her eyes, the girl continued to sway her hips to the beat, feeling relaxed and tension free for once in quite a few weeks. It seemed that everything was fast paced in her life, but now with Maureen, she was having fun and everything was slow and kind of good. It was weird to think of dancing as good because it did take a lot of energy out of someone but right at that very moment she didn’t care, this was literally the slowest thing she had done ever since the week had started which was slightly bizarre. Even in her sleep she seemed to move a lot.
Laughing, she nodded her head. “I hope I’m not as bad otherwise I’m probably really putting people off form dancing around me with the way I’m moving my arms and legs.” Laughing once more, though the sound was drowned out by the music, she allowed her face to show the laughter and happiness she was feeling. “I guess you’re right!” Her hand was cupped around her mouth as she tried to sound louder than she actually was so that Maureen would be able to hear as the song switched from a low beat one to a faster beat one. Laughing, she put her hands up, shaking them about. “Alright, alright, no more eye rolling from me…. but if I get drunk and do it then you can’t blame me!”
It was different when you were with friends, everything was so much better because you could act like a freak, you could act weird and they wouldn’t say anything. Friendships made everything better, you didn’t have to have approval from them in most of the things you did in life because friends were always by your side and made you happy no matter what. She smiled when Maureen let out a laugh, she had missed her friend and right now it was obvious because the two couldn’t keep their mouth shut long enough to just enjoy everything.
Nodding her head at her friend’s idea, she moved her hips some more, her body moving to the beat as if she had just lost herself in it. Music was something easy to get into, you could just lose yourself and you never really had to get out. “Yeah, let’s do that, I think the boy you’re winking at is right about ready to join us.” Twirling in her space, close to her friend, she caught the eye of the boy who had been eyeing her all night and she winked at him seductively, keeping a mischievous, flirty look on her face as he pondered over whether or not to join her and Maureen.

-- maureen laughed once again as her friend rolled her eyes. she had known she would have fun tonight, but she hadn't realized she would have this much fun! it was definitely a breath of fresh air to be able to have a night out with her friend, not having to worry about studying or school or anything. "you are definitely not that bad. well, if they are put off, it just gives us more room to dance!" maureen told her friend, laughing with her. scarlett was definitely not as bad as she thought she was. she had pretty good moves once she got loosened up and stopped thinking about it. that's what happened sometimes, the more you thought about it, the less you could just let go and get into the beat. dancing was all about letting go.
-- the music was loud, and maureen could barely make out what scarlett was saying, but she could read lips fairly well. "well, if i get drunk too, i probably won't notice it!" maureen said, raising her voice slightly. the song that was on had a good beat, and maureen couldn't help but moving her hips and body in time with it. dancing felt so...right to her. it was like breathing, she didn't have to think about it, she just did it. her life would be so empty without dancing. to be honest, she couldn't really remember her life before she had started dancing. she didn't realize that she had felt empty before she discovered her passion.
-- a grin played across her lips. maybe tonight would turn out even better than she had expected. out of the corner of her eyes, she watched the guy take a swig of his drink and begin to walk over to her and scarlett. as he walked, maureen glanced at him and twirled her hips seductively. scarlett was also getting her flirt on, the other guy walking towards them as well. both guys were extremely attractive. but why would the pick guys that weren't? both guys reached them at the same time. maureen grinned as both she and scarlett began dancing with their new men.
(ooc; i hope you don't mind if i kind of jump time a little bit. and i just realized i kind of controlled scarlett. i can change anything if it doesn't work for you)
-- they continued to dance, the night growing old. the club was winding down. now was the time people started to head off with their partners of choice. maureen had to admit she was getting fairly tired, and was ready to get out of the club. she playfully bumped scarlett's hip with her own. "i think i'm gonna head out." maureen told her friend, throwing in a playful wink. the guy definitely seem interested enough, they had been dancing together the whole night. heading back to her place sounded really good at the moment. maureen raised an eyebrow and motioned towards the door with her head. her guy nodded, and began to follow her out. maureen blew a kiss to scarlett. her friend would understand. maureen would definitely have to text her tomorrow and ask how things went with her man. tonight had been just perfect.
