AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane was a simple guy by most accounts, and obnoxious... but that second part was debatable. He liked to think so anyhow. However, he did like to look good, that kept the ladies coming. Shane was sure his brother was sick of hearing girly moans and exclamations but thats what he got for sharing a place with his brother. Not like Shane slept around, he was a true blue kind of guy, and he had an on and off relationship going on at the moment. Poor Dustin was probably getting whiplash from Shane's moods.
In any case, he had finally called it off. The girl wasn't worth it, and really, if you couldn't stay together... what was the point? it was just a lie. So he decided to go get a manicure, a sort of "wash that man right out of my hair" mentality, only a girl and his nails. Shane wasn't girly by any means, but cleanliness was important to him. Besides, who did like a warm hand massage and someone else dealing w basic things. He had nothing against being pampered. He didn't let them polish them tho, not ever clear. He wasn't a sissy.
He decided to go back to the agency, he was sure he was supposed to be around today... whatever. Shane whistled happily, hands in the pockets of his jeans and he backed up threw the door, pushing it open behind him.
"What shakin' bacon?" He asked his brother, who looked studious and uptight as ever. Shane sat on the edge of the desk and ruffled his hair lightly. "Aw who got your feather boa in a twist?" He asked. Of course, Dustin did not have a boa, he wasn't that sort of guy. But the easiest way to tease Dustin was to make dumb jokes about gay stereotypes. Dustin knew that Shane didn't care either way. They were family.

Dustin was rather different the past couple of days. He was more quiet, more uptight, and even more grumpy. Poor Shane had gotten in the line of fire recently with one of Dustin's ever famous mood swings. But that was only because of the tough case of Frost's. See, the man had come in and asked Dustin fr help about his ex who had been bothering him. Dustin, of course being a detective, decided to help the younger man with his trouble and try to catch Frost's ex for him. The only thing was, he was hard to get a hold of. With a sigh, Dustin continued looking over a map of Paris (which was covered with X's and O's). He had X'ed off the places in which the man was not hiding and circled the places the older Detective hadn't checked. 'Where in the world would this guy be? He is great at hiding...' he thought.
Of course, Dustin's thoughts were broken by the sound of his baby brother coming in and sat on the edge of the elder Wheeler brother's desk. Blinking a little, he looked up, but was met with Shane ruffling his hair. The man made a small growling noise and looked back at the map as Shane spoke. “I can't find this guy my client asked me to get.....the Client said his ex had been stalking him and well, he needs help getting rid of him.” Dustin said, ignoring the fact that Shane had just teased him. For some reason, Dustin was hellbent on finding this ex and getting rid of him. Frost seemed like a nice guy, despite his rather cold personality.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? So, his brother was tracking down the ex of some gay guy? Wasn't that a conflict of interest? "Do you like this client?" He asked, wiggling an eyebrow at his brother. Probably wasn't true, Dustin didn't mix business and pleasure much... maybe Shane just thought about sex too much. That was probably it, he was still young and carefree enough. Dustin had sort of been hardened by life. Shane covered up his insecurity with humor and light hearted play.
"Really you can't find him?" He asked a little more seriously, rounding the table to peer at the map. "Are the Xs spots you looked for him and didn't find him?" He asked, trailing a finger over the map. They had stacks of new maps for this, so they never dealt with old ones, always drew all over them and they couldn't be used again. "Where does the guy live? The client? the stalker ex must be staying nearby, in a hotel room or rented apartment, did you check those sorts of things?" Someone could hang out anywhere, but they had to sleep somewhere, and somehow Shane doubted he was a park bench guy. Even if he was, it had to be a park near the client, in order for this stalking to work. Right?

Dustin got a flat look on his face as he looked at his brother. “No. He is just a client, nothing more.” he said. Of course, his mind betrayed him. 'Yes you do, don't lie.' he thought. Shaking his head a little, he looked back at the map. There had to be some way that the stalker ex would be around Damien Froste at some point and time. He sighed again and looked at Shane. “Yeah.....I looked all around his place....” he spoke, point to a big square on the map. “He lives around in here....and I have looked all around that area except this part. But that place is off limits to the public...” he said.
Then it hit him. Maybe the guy was in the place that was off limits? That would be the perfect place for him, since no one would really go there. And it was close to where Damien lived. “Maybe he is there...hiding in a place no one would really look since it says off limits. Shane, you are a genius!” he said, giving a happy smile to his brother. He put the map away and went to call Damien, but all he got was the answering machine. Looking at the clock, he realized that the man must have been at work. “Damn, he is still at work....”
Dustin then looked at his brother and spoke. “If we can catch this guy, Damien will be able to sleep. Poor guy, his ex has really effected him. When he came in the first time, he was all bruised and cut. It pissed me off and I don't know why...'

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane had to smile. Of course, the off limits part of town. If you were willing be a stalker, you were willing to break the law, right? "of course I'm a genius, otherwise you woulda kicked me to the curb years ago." And that was true. Shane wasn't sure how well he would have handled things, had they been reversed. "Come on, I'll help you check it out." It also made Shane feel good to watch Dustins back, made up for him always having his baby brothers. "I know why it pissed you off, because you like him, and you find him attratcive. Now lets go kick some ass, so you can get some ass." Shane declared, marching toward the door. But the words, bruised and cut floated in his head. He looked that some days when their dad was done with him... Those were bad days, and they were behind him. Shane tried to keep the shadow off his face, he had for years after all. he shuffled his feet quietly, holding the door open, waiting for his brother to join him. But he wasn't sure he wanted to meet this ex any more. He smiled, "Come on slowpoke." he teased. "You can call him later, and say you got the guy." Shane really did think Dustin needed some love in his life. Dustin thought too much, worked too much, took care of too much. He needed to let his hair down. Though while Shane never thought twice about disrupting things, he didn't really want to listen to his older brother-- who at times was like a parent-- having sex with his new boyfriend.

Dustin rolled his eyes as he looked at his brother. He may have been a genius but sometimes the older brother could swear he had an ego. Smirking, he shook his head. “I wouldn't have done that and you damn well know it.” he said. Dustin looked at his brother as he said he would help Dustin catch the stalker ex. Frowning a little, he sighed and nodded. “Fine, fine. Might as well. Besides I might need help anyway.” he said, complying to his younger brother. However, Dustin didn't get up from his desk as he looked at the map again. Yes, that had to be where that asshole was. And Dustin was going to stop him with Shane's help. Then Frost will be able to sleep in peace.
Shane was sort of stepping over the limit, but he was right. Dustin did care about Frost. Groaning a little, he sighed. “I suppose your right....but I have way too much stuff to do.....I can't possibly have a love life....” he said gently with a sigh. Looking up at Shane, Dustin knew how he would have felt by this. Slowly he stood up and followed his younger sibling over to the door. Gently, he placed his hand on his shoulder. “Shane, I would never let that happen to you again. My top priorities are to protect you and Frost. Strange as it sounds, I will protect both of you until my last dying breath. And that will be a while.” he said, a serious look on his face.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? "Yeah, I know you never would, but don't think I don't know that I've deserved it." Shane said. He knew he could be a brat, an annoying thorn in Dustin's side. His humor and playful teasing was his answer to the world for what had happened to him as a boy. It distracted him from thinking about his father and how he wounded him.
"Oh come on, there is always time for a love life," Shane said with a shake of his head. "You do realize we're partners here, I can help you with the work, I'm not that irresponsible, don't I pull my weight?" He protested. Shane might not have been the best business man but he did get the job done. He ran this place too. And he still managed to get plenty of love in his life. "Bro, I want to see you happy again."
"Let what happen again?" Shane asked, trying to keep his face blank. Was it possible that Dustin knew about dad? No, no way. "But its not strange, you've always protected me." Which was true, Shane was not the responsible brother and Dustin did so much for him.

Dustin looked at Shane and gave a gentle smile. Shane always was able to get the older of the two brother to smile. But, right now it was go time. He chose to ignore the younger brother as he spoke about having a love life. But, he stopped what he was doing when he heard Shane speak about how he wanted to see Dustin happy again. Looking at his younger brother, he was frowning slightly. “Shane, I have always been happy. I have been happy helping you and being a big brother to you....I have been happy running this business with you. It's plain and simple why I can't have a love life right now. There is so much I need to stay focused on. Like helping people by catching murderers and finding their loved ones...” he spoke, giving a sigh. It was true he had to do all these things. So a love life wasn't as simple as that, was it?
The older brother looked at Shane as he acted as if he didn't know what Dustin was talking about. In fact, his older brother knew something had happened in the past that hurt Shane, even though he didn't know quite what it was. Shaking his head, he walked out the door and headed towards their car. “Come on, Shane. Oh, and if it gets bad and dangerous, I do NOT want you to stick around. You go get help if things start to turn for the worse got it?” he told him. Dustin didn't want Shane to get hurt and he didn't know if this stalker ex was dangerous or not.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane sighed. It wasn't that he thought Dustin was unhappier, he just thought he could be happier. Shane made time for relationships, and Dustin could to if he stopped pretending he was too busy to have a personal life. He chose his own schedule for god's sake...But he said nothing, following his brother outside.
"Yeah, yeah I'll get gone." He said, with a little roll of his eyes. Dustin was so over protective but Shane wanted to come along, and he would let Dustin take care of him. Obviously, someone should get help, should anything go down. But it was always Shane, he was the little brother. An adult now, but still a kid that his brother had to watch. Shane felt bad for making Dustin such a parent... while so much better than his own.
The ride was quiet, Shane keeping his eyes open and curious for anything. "Do we have a photo of this stalker ex?" He asked, realizing he had no idea what the guy looked like, who they were asking for. And how would they get in? It being off limits and all... Maybe it was hop a fence time.

Dustin nodded gently as he looked at his younger brother. They had lost their parents, and the man did not want to deal with the pain of losing another. He felt responsible for Shane, more so that any other older brother would for their younger sibling. He pretty much raised the young man by himself from the time he was eighteen. He looked over at the younger one of the two as they drove to the restricted area near Frost's house. He listened as Shane asked about a picture of the stalker ex. “Yeah. It's right there in the yellow folder.” his gruff voice rang out through the silence in the car afterward. Once they got there, Dustin scanned the area and looked at Shane with a smirk. “I think we might have to jump the fence. You ready?” he asked.
The older man was starting to get anxious and excited. Finally, he would be able to take down this creep who had been bothering Frost. Once done, he would call him up and tell him the man had been caught and he wouldn't have to worry anymore. As well as probably ask him on a dinner date. 'No, business is business and afterward, I might not see the man again in my life.' he thought silently, saddened slightly by the thought of this. There was no doubt that Dustin was in love with Damien Froste.
One thing that always amazed Dustin was how in sync he was with his younger brother. When they got out of the car, they got out together. They shut the door at the same time. When one moved so did the other one. It was as if they were one. Maybe this was what twins felt like? Though, the two were far from being twins.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane just nodded and looked at the photo in the yellow folder. The guy was a total creep... Handsome maybe, but creepy and maybe a little old. Shane glanced at Dustin, a million older men jokes jumped into his head but he decided to refrain. Now Shane was determined to meet this client and get his brother hooked up. The man needed to get laid. Shane silently wondered how long it had been... surely Dustin wasn't a virgin, that would be hilarious... They got out of the car together, a sort of mind link, and the car doors slammed shut behind them. "I'm always ready to jump fences." he teased lightly, taking a running shot at the chainlink fence. Shane was a fairly athetic youth and so he almost gracefully, scampered over the barrier and rocked on on his heels on the otherside. "Come on old man," He teased lightly, taunting his brother who was still with the car. Shane loved the thrill of action. He could feel it in Dustin too. They were both ready to go, brothers, dectectives... the same blood pumping, excited for the chase. Hunters on the savannah caveman type shit. It made them feel manly. He looked around, it was so quiet. That was of course because people were noisy, and no people were allowed here, and the ones that wanted to hide. It left an errie feeling to the place. Leaves scattered in the wind and a squirrel ran up a tree, its nails clicking into the wood, oddly haunting.

Dustin smirked as his younger brother told him about how he was ready to jump the fence. He watched as Shane took the lead, jumping the fence with ease and landing swiftly on his feet. Chuckling a little at what his younger brother said next made him feel ten times younger. It was his turn to jump the rather large barrier. Backing up a bit he smirked at his brother again. “I will show you how you really jump a fence, Shaney boy.” he said. Bounding towards the fence, he skillfully jumped and grabbed the top, twisting himself as he went over and landed facing the fence. However, his knees buckled since he didn't get a good footing to the ground and he winced. “Aw, damn. That hurt.....” he mumbled, standing up a little better and shaking his legs out. He couldn't let that bother him. Now that they were over, it was time to search for Jacob Varlow.
Dustin looked around then at Shane slowly, pulling out a pair of walkie talkies and handed one to his brother. “Now we need to split up and if you see him, message me on here.......I will do the same. Remember, he may be dangerous. Do not engage him alone, understand?” he whispered, his voice serious like always. He couldn't have anything happen to Shane, but he knew that if he got this Jacob Varlow by himself, his temper would flare and then there would most likely be a fight. He just hoped nothing like that happened.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane laughed and shook his head, watching Dustin fly over the fence with ease. Shane knew he did just as well... "And we'll have to take off points for not sticking the landing." He said in an announcer type voice. Watching gymnastics was a highly favored pastime. Ah the olympics, girls of course, though the guys could be interesting to watch too.
Shane nodded and took the walkie talkie, but he knew the sound of a voice would give them away, so it didn't seem like a good plan to him. but oh well. The two set off, looking around quietly. It was quiet for a while and then Shane saw something move, a flash behind a wall that jutted into an alley. The mouth of the beast so to speak. He tapped Dustin on the shoulder and nodded his head to the alley. it might not be their guy, but someone, or something was back there. He could go check that out, right? He went over carefully, oddly aware of the pocket knife in his back pocket.
Shane didn't see anything at first and he was tentative to walk into the shadows, mostly because he knew Dustin would feel terrible if anything happened to him.

Dustin rolled his eyes at his younger brother. “That landing was flawless, Shane. You just saw the bad part of it.” he said, smirking slightly. After he finished explaining to the younger Wheeler sibling, they started walking around. It was until Dustin felt a tapping on his shoulder that he say Shane nod his head towards an alley. Something had moved. The older man started walking with his younger brother to see what or who it was that decided to run down that alley. He stopped slightly, looking around. But in an instant, he saw a person turn the corner down the alleyway.
“Shane, find a way to block him off!” Dustin exclaimed as he took chase. It was a few moments, he realized how stupid he had been for taking off, but it didn't matter. The man who had been tormenting Frost for so long had to be caught. No matter the consequences. The detective turned another alleyway and took out the walkie talkie. “Shane? Shane can you hear me? Whoever it was went down the alley where the metal pipes are!” he said into the talking device.
Dustin continued to run, but the figure had been chasing was gone. 'Dammit!' he thought. It was then he took out the walkie talkie once more. “Shane, keep your guard up, I lost whoever that was. Make sure that if you see or hear anything to contact me.” he said in a stern voice. Then, the older detective started walking around, searching once more.

AND IF I GO CRAZY THEN WILL YOU STILL CALL ME SUPERMAN?if i'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand? Shane did as his brother asked, running around to where he supposed the alley let out. He sort of resented being a minor partner here, not half and half. Second to his older brother, always. Shane was stuck in the baby role, the look out, the sidekick. Sometimes he could laugh about it, but today he felt a little miffed. Dustin's voice crackled over the radio and Shane just kept running. Metal pipes... that was helpful. The sarcasm rang in his head.
Then he found him, the man was dressed all in black, a hat shielding his eyes. Was it the ex or someone else? He couldn't tell. But he couldn't turn away, the man had stopped moving, probably hearing Dustin's voice crackle over the walkie talkie. So Shane reached for it and said quietly, "Got him. south west of the boarded up church." he said. But the perp heard him anyway and started to move.
Shane didn't care what dustin would say and went for the guy, running out of the shadows and lunging at him. Shane was a good fighter, and he enjoyed it maybe a little too much. It was easy to find inner rage to focus outwardly. All the words he could never say to his father. His fist smashed against the guys jaw, but he managed to get a knee in the gut. The two wrestled on the ground, Shane barely even thinking of Dustin and what he'd say.... who cared what he'd say!
