L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Even though Sophia and Alexei had been dating for a couple months, she still made time for her friends. One particular friend she headed out to bug was Shane, a detective friend. He was one of the first friend’s she had made in Paris. She had been completely lost without having her family with her like normal. Shane had helped her find her way and kept her amused at the same time. Since then she kept seeking out his companionship and humor. Plus he was someone she had fun talking to. He was about the only one she trusted with her novel ideas, even if he found them corny. Sophia didn’t care that much as long as he was honest-be it corny, awful or brilliant. Though she couldn’t blame him if he thought they were corny. Most of them were very romantic in the subplots but she tried to keep the sexy down which made it just annoying like other novels of the such.
They were to meet up at a cafe around the way from his home and close enough to where Sophia could walk. She herself never drove anymore and still had issues being in a car for long distances. After the car accident, she didn’t want to get back into a moving vehicle for too long. part of it was fear and part of it was the guilt she still felt. The only people she had to talk to concerning her feelings were her mother and Marcus’ daughter really. But she hated to keep bugging them with how weird she felt. If she ever went back to a counselor perhaps that would help but it hadn’t helped her in the three years she went. Sophia still could only ride in a car if she fell asleep and never went out in a storm.
Reaching the little coffee place, she didn’t see Shane right off so stepped in to grab a place in line. Her fingers reached up to undo her one button she had done. In her walk from her flat to the shop had overheated her. But late autumn in Paris was a very cold on. Not as cold as back home but considering she hated being chilly at all, Sophia came out in one of her favorite jackets. Shane didn’t care about how she dressed or kept herself up but Sophia liked to make herself look the best. Her friend’s noticed how when she hung out with the detective she took a little extra care but she shrugged it off as her normal self. She had been raised to always take care in her appearance to others and rarely let herself be seen without her hair an make-up done. People may tease her about it but she couldn’t change things she had done for years. As the line moved along, she glanced up even though she already knew what she wanted to have.

Shane and Sophia were close friends, she hadn't been in Paris for long, relatively speaking, but they acted like they had known each other forever. That was Shane's way though, he was playful and never too serious. He was a loyal friend and especially when it came to pretty girls, he was charming. Sophia was a stunner, absolutely gorgeous. She was dating Alexi Fournier these days, but that didn't mean he couldn't know it was a good view and appreciate it.
She had wanted to meet him, so they set up a coffee date. He had intended to be on time, but he had been distracted by an email full of videos of dancing dogs. Not like dogs were more exciting that a beautiful lady, just that you forget that one minute videos add up after a while.
He drove there, he could have walked, but he was already late enough. Shane strolled in, hands in his pockets and saw her in line. He cut the line and stood next to her. "Hey you, sorry I'm late." He said, glancing at his watch. Well, he wasn't too late at least. "You look great, but what else is new right?" He chuckled. She always looked amazing, she might have been a writer but at heart she was a model.

I 'V E. B E E N. C O L L E C T I N G. Y O U R. W O R D S. L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Even though Sophia wouldn't admit it, she found the relationship with Alexei perplexing. He seemed like a gentleman such as Shane but had issues getting intimate with her. They walked about and he showed some affection but it was minimal. It frustrated her slightly because she wanted to have some fun alone as well as when they went out on proper dates. Apparently Sophia was on new grounds and had to rethink things. Maybe that made this guy worth it if he was being this courteous? She didn't know and hadn't seen Liliana in awhile to talk about it in depth like she wanted.
Sophia chewed lightly on the side of her thumb as she thought over if she wanted to indulge on more then one treat. As she mulled over which two she wanted she heard Shane's voice. She turned to throw her arms around his side in a hug. Even with a boyfriend-but-not-thing she didn't feel the need to change how she acted with her guy friends. Sophia was loyal when dating someone so she never crossed any inappropriate boundaries. There had been opportunities to but she had back; sometimes she'd pull away from them for a few days just to get over the weirdness. But she couldn't just change who she was with people she cared about.
"Well in being late you missed the crazy line. Now you're up front thanks to me." Sophia tilted her head to the side and flashed her brightest smile. When the barrister asked what they wanted she placed an order in for a caramel cappuccino with a beignet and jesuite on the side. While Shane ordered she watched him for a moment. He was always sweet to her with complimenting how great she looked and other little things. It was weird because while Alexei said it, it seemed different with Shane. Maybe because the two weren't dating so there was no reason to have those compliments said. Still, he told them to Sophia and it made her feel good. As they moved to the side to wait for their orders, she bumped into his side playfully. "So what's the oh so Hdapper detective been up to these days? Closed any cases and stomped on the evil in this city?"
It was weird knowing a cop but also fairly cool. Before the only cops she knew were ones who had to protect the events that her family went to, especially at the royal homes. This cop she could have fun talking to and not have it plastered everywhere. [/blockquote][/blockquote] tagged;; shane word count;; erm no idea outfit;; here notes;; nada

Shane chuckled lightly when she stated he'd missed the line because of his lateness. "Good timing, or fashionably late... one of those... maybe both?" He said with a shrug. She ordered and he followed suit, asking for a black coffee and a cinnamon bun--his favorite tooth rotting sweet.
They moved over to a table and she asked him how he was doing, catching criminals and such. He just laughed. "The private eye business has been a little slow. Most people tend to try not to find about about extramarital affairs around family based holidays." he shrugged. "We are trying to catch the ex of some guy, the ex is stalking him... I think my brother has a crush on the guy, the client, not the stalker ex." He laughed lightly and shook his head. Dustin could like whoever he wanted, it was just funny to Shane, the lengths his older brother went through to deny it.
"Speaking of relationships, I broke up with Clara." he said. "I'm okay, it just wasn't really working." He said with a shrug, not looking very torn up. he wasn't either, it had been a good move to move on. His girlfriends tended not to last long. They didn't like how he couldn't take much of anything seriously. Shane didn't really blame them.

As she leaned in, Sophia dropped her voice and winked playfully. ”Perhaps both. Btu you’ve always had a knack of showing up at the most unexpected times.” She knew with his work sometimes meet ups would get cancelled if he wasn’t just running late. There were times he’s had to cancel because he had to do what his clents wanted and those time were often hard for her. With school and having to go home for part of the holidays, she wanted to spend plenty of time with her friends. Christmas Eve would be spent here for sure but she had a feeling late that evening she’d have to head straight to Denmark.
Sophia raised a brow and let it fall quickly listening to his story. One had to be careful when getting involved with someone in connection to your work. It had to be a bit more dangerous with Shane’s line of work as well. ”Well as long as the ex doesn’t flip her mind over Dustin oogling your client then all should be good. Otherwise a catty brawl might ensue.” She knew his brother wasn’t the girly gay. He was probably the guy when you looked at him you didn’t expect to be gay at all. Sophia hadn’t to be honest. Not that she was any less accepting. Call it her generation but she really didn’t care about those things. To her there were more important politically issues that should be attacked like the American war in the middle east. And even then she only really worried about it because she had to follow those things. trying to keep up with politics was exhausting.
Sophia’s body leaned forward as she set down her cup of coffee. Though Shane didn’t look heartbroken over the break-up she was sure it had to be fairly awful on him. They had dated for a bit of time. Her hand wrapped around his wrist as she offered a kind smile. Then it turned mischievous. ”Well then, we’ll just have to do something extra awesome to help you move on.” Oh the things Sophia had turning in her mind though she doubted he was up for it. A new and sexy outfit bought for him before she dragged him off to some club. She could definitely play a good wing woman, possibly posing as his sister or cousin or something. Or even loiter around the bar and pretend to be interested in him to draw allure to him. Oh, Sophia was a wicked girl when she really put some effort into it.

Shane laughed, "Its part of my charm." he said with a sly smile. Mostly it was his job that made him late. He wasn't forgettful, but often distractable. So if it wasn't work, it was the opposite--too much fun. You know the saying, time flies when you're having fun. Time was a funny thing really, totally subjective and easily broken. But Shane didn't feel like getting philosophical right now. When did he ever? "The ex is a he, its like a gay love triangle," he said, using his hands to describe. "Dustin's a chicken, he's pretending he doesn't have feelings for the guy--Dustins trouble, he separates too much." he said with a little nod of his head. "Honestly, I'd like to fight the guy, the ex, Dustin treats me like a kitten. I can handle the guy." he said, nodding emphatically. he was a tough guy, he had fights in school (not to mention was abused by their father, a secret Shane still kept from everyone, especially Dustin), and he could hold his own. Dustin never gave his baby brother the chance. Shane laughed at her suggestion. "I'm not sure I wanna know what your talking about." One night stand? She was in a relationship and they were friends... so what did she have in mind? With Sophia, sometimes it was impossible to tell what was going on in that mind of hers. "Really, we were fizzling out for a while, it wasn't that serious.. .Dustin's probably thrilled he won't have to sleep with earplugs in anymore." Shane winked at her lightly.

P O C K E T S. With a soft smile, Sophia nodded. ”One of your many charms.” She leaned back in her seat as she gently swirled the liquid in her cup. There were times she wondered about how safe Shane’s job really was. What if this stalked ex came around and hurt Dustin? That wouldn’t be a very good thing. ”I doubt he doesn’t think you can’t handle him but what if he has a weapon you didn’t previously see? Especially if you go along to confront him that wouldn’t be a good thing. So I have to agree with Dustin on this. Don’t confront him, especially alone.” Sophia knew Shane was tough and could fight back where needed. But because of her family, she was kept updated on everything hidden weapon wise. The amount of small knives and guns out there was a bit unbelievable to be honest but it worried her. Especially when she had friends who worked in more dangerous careers.
As she perked back up, Sophia leaned forward to get a bit closer to Shane. ”I just mean a bunch of us going out. Dancing and some drinks to just have fun and forget.” She wasn’t one who condoned random hook-ups; she herself has always been one to commit before anything. But she didn’t look down upon friends who wished to do so. ”I am amazing at playing the lesbian best friend who talks up her straight best friend.” Sophia really should have been an actress. With how she pretended that her family didn’t exist and then working her magic to cheer up friends, she could make a killer amount of money. ”Well I’m glad it wasn’t that bad of a break up then. But I’m sure he’ll still need the earplugs. We all know how single men love the internet.” Being in a relationship she probably shouldn’t talk about things such as going to clubs and internet porn with a single guy but it was just Shane. There was nothing between them and it was all innocent fun. At least that’s what she always told herself because while he was attractive, she didn’t feel anything for him. Men and women could be friends, even with one or both being physically attractive.

Shane chuckled. "Theres this handy invention called headphones," he said with a little grin. She was a bold girl Sophia. Not many girls would openly talk about porn and pretending to be lesbians and trying to get a guy to sleep around, especially not a straight and taken one.
"I could get behind some clubbing," he admitted, doing little pelvic thrusts in his chair, drawing a few looks which only made him laugh. "Alright, count me in." Drinks and dancing would be a nice change of pace, and maybe it would give Dustin the chance to relax a bit without him in the house, maybe get his crush over and have some beer... Shane totally didn't want to think about that

She was rather sweet except when she had a temper. She hated porn herself but at no problems making jokes about it. Part of the issue was she tried too hard to get people to like the her that didn’t have any ties to Denmark. It left a slight hole in her, hiding part of who she was. So she filled it with who she thought she should be like. ”Well that could work too but then you won’t hear him coming close to walking in on you.” Even though the whole walking in on masturbating thing wasn’t top on her list, she did miss the kind of banter that could happen if a sibling barged into her room. There were many things Sophia wished she could’ve experienced, even if the two hated each other.
As she picked at her treats, Sophia would pop bite sized pieces in her mouth. ”Good. Maybe I can drag Alexei's sister along. She doesn’t seem to like me for some reason despite me trying.” Maybe if Anouk saw her being a good friend then she’d come around. Besides her secret, at least she wasn’t a terribly horrible person. Or at least she thought she wasn’t that bad. Besides, her and Anouk had only a couple interactions. There was no reason why the girl had been so quick to jump on the let’s-hate-Sophia train. Clubbing might not be the best idea but with helping out her case but she was doing it to help out a friend. Even if it was just to get out of the house. ”So what do you want to do today?”
