Looking back at it now it was surprising to see how after everything that happened, it has been six years, six wonderful and amazing years of happiness together after so much suffering. Things started to run smoothly for them after she came back and they got married and ran for their spectacular honeymoon in Rio. Anouk never knew things would end up this way when she fell in love with him, it was impossible for her to think otherwise. But now she couldn’t imagine her future in a different way, there was no other possible way for her to have ended. She looked at her adorable little son with the sweetest smile on her face, but her attention was diverted soon by her two daughters pushing her hair. Yes, Alexei and Anouk were now parents of three beautiful children, some people might say she was young having her first child at twenty-three but for them it had been the natural step to take. And when little Jacob came to the world it had just been the cherry on the top of their lives. After three years of enjoying each other they started to create a family, and Jacob was such a little adorable bounce of energy!
Now she was running after him with his sisters on tow, one playing with her hair and the other one with her shirt. Jacob looked a lot like Alexei but had her energy, he was never still and he was so mischievous! If she got distracted five seconds, which usually happened a lot having two other kids to attend to, he took the chance to do something he shouldn’t. Just like now. “Jacob! Don’t touch that! That is daddy’s art set! Use your own!” Jacob turned to look at her with his smile and she was disarmed. It was like looking into Alexei’s smile and she had a weak spot for that. "But mom… I like daddy's better!" He said pouting and in that little voice he used to persuade her. Anouk closed her eyes with a smile, shaking her head. “Go play with yours Jacob, come on.” Luckily for them they happened to be quite good kids and rarely threw a tantrum… unless they wanted something really bad or were in the mood of just being loud.
She turned to the twins in her arms, laughing and giggling as they played with her hair. The twins, Louise and Cecilia, looked more like her, with their freckles and their golden hair. In personality though they were just like Alexei, calm and quiet, and they could be entertained with everything. Leaving Louise on the floor and taking her little hand she followed Jacob to the living room where his art set was sprayed on the floor with numerous sheets and toys of the twins. She left Cecilia near the bright colored blocks and immediately she started to cry, which cause her sister to cry too and Jacob started to scream just for the pleasure of being noisy. “Cecilia, mom has to cook! Daddy will be soon home and he will be hungry!” This was their daily life now, the kids playing around the house being noisy and making a mess, the twins crying because she couldn’t hold them or Jacob doing one of his things. Soon enough she heard the door of their house opening, and Anouk picked up both little girls and Jacob ran to the door to greet Alexei. Whenever he got home, it was the best moment of the day.
He wasn’t even in and Jacob was already jumping around and shouting. "Daddy! Daddy! Look at what I did today!" He was waving on his hand a sheet of paper with some draw he had done during the day. Louise made grabby hands when he was in sight for him to pick her up. “Easy, easy Jacob, let daddy in at least!” Anouk said laughing and approaching Alexei, kissing him softly on the lips.

It was almost nearing ten in the evening and it was time to go home. Go home to a loving wife and three children. You heard right; three children. Six years it had been ever since Anouk had come back from her running away stage, six years since they moved on and stayed true to one another, six years where they managed to rebuild their love for one another and not let anything get in the way. They had managed to do it. Though he never actually told Anouk what he had felt during those moments when she had left (or fully ever explained it), he had never thought they would get back together because he had thought she had left him for good, off to find another man of her own. But no, that wasn’t to be because their love was stronger than a lot of people. During those moments when she had left, their own parents had seen how much Alex loved Anouk and had forgiven the both of them for deceiving them for so long. But everything was better now, perfect. Just perfect. Their lives had three little cherries on top, each cherry being their kids of course.
Of course little Jacob had come out first, when Alex was twenty-eight and Anouk twenty-three, people were surprised at the idea as if this was something weird. Anouk wasn’t that young anyway, he knew a lot of people, who had children at a younger age, but they didn’t care, this was natural for them. After their big fairy tale wedding, (which Anouk had agreed to in the end), everything just fell into place. They had their own little apartment, they had their perfect lives, and Alex’s gallery was doing far then better and usual and they were all just all around happy and became even happier once Jacob was born. There was no doubt that the boy was the spitting image of his father, big brown eyes, a slight dimple in his cheek and a wide heart melting smile which his step mother said looked like his own. Of course there were a few Anouk features in there, but seriously, the boy was exactly like his father and he was known as Jacob Alexei Fournier. For him it was far better than anything. Everything was literally perfect.
Then things became even more perfect when little Louise and Cecilia were born. They were the spitting image of their mother and Alex couldn’t help but to favour them a bit more than his son. Which father wouldn’t favour his own daughters more than his own son? Everybody knew that daughters were their fathers and sons were their mothers, it was like an unwritten rule or something. Their personality was exactly like their father as well, they were both thoughtful and took things slow just like Alex did and it could be seen in their tiny body movements how the mimicked their father every once in a while. Picking up a flower for Anouk and some chocolates for Jacob that could be easily melted for the twins to have, he smiled as he walked down the streets to their new house. It was a four-bedroom house, each bedroom for each person, well one for the twins to coop up together and the other an empty guest room for whenever someone decided to visit, like their parents or relatives. Smiling, he took a sniff of the flower, hoping that Anouk would like it just as he did. In a few minutes he was back home, in front of the door. Using his keys, he opened the door to be greeted by his over excited son.
Picking up Jacob in his hands, he returned Anouk’s kiss. “Hey! There’s my little monster! Look what daddy brought you!” Walking into the house as he put Jacob on his shoulders, he held out the little bag of coin chocolates that he had bought for them. Jacob gasped, his hands moving forward, “Give them to me daddy!” Alex laughed and settled the boy down onto the sofa once they were in the living room. “What do you say?” A stern look flashed across Alex’s face. “Please and thank you…?” Alex laughed and nodded his head, throwing the bag to the boy and watched him try to open the bag. Getting up, he walked to Anouk, taking one of the twins from her hands, Cecilia he assumed by the way she latched onto him. “And this is for your mother.” From his front pocket, he got out the flower and handed it to Anouk.

When Anouk left those two months she strongly believed it was for his well being; that he would be way better if she wasn’t there holding him back and hurting him all the time. But she was wrong, very wrong, because that only brought him more pain and suffering and being apart near killed them both. When Anouk left she never thought of coming back to him until she just couldn’t handle it anymore, and she was so very glad she came because they wouldn’t lead the perfect life they were leading now. Those months without him, she never stopped thinking about him, it was him and just him on her mind all day long and she felt as if her heart had been ripped off her chest, as if she had left it with him in Paris. She never thought she would ever be as happy as the day of her wedding, or the day they finally got together after those two long painful months, but then again she was wrong, when she discovered she was pregnant, when Jacob was born… that had been the most perfect day of her life. Then they had the twins, their little Louise and Cecilia, to just top their happy family and life together. Six years of full happiness, she never felt so complete and looking at them play and be noisy was the best thing life could bring her.
Anouk’s gaze wandered around the room, their house was quite big, four rooms and two bathrooms, very luminous and clear. It inspired her and made her happy, as if she absorbed the light of the house inside her and made her glow, and the laughs of her kids, their toys all over the place when they played just brought the touch of happiness and life she loved. In the walls, the three originals he had bought him their first Christmas together had a special place, together with family pictures, and the dry rose Alexei gave her the first night they were together. They had moved in to this house little after the twins were born, their old apartment being too small for the five of them. She had been sad leaving a place that had so many memories but in this house they built a better life all of them together and nothing could compare. Anouk saved those fond memories in her mind and heart and she was sure Alexei did the same, too. And talking about the love of her life, there he was opening the door being received in the usual noisy welcome their kids gave him whenever he came home from work. She smiled when Alexei picked up Jacob and kissed her back, the twins making noises for them being too close. “Welcome home love.”
She raised an eyebrow at what Alexei brought the kids, shaking her head. Alexei spoiled the kids way too much, just like she used to spoil him back when they had no other people to spoil. Anouk tried to not act the same with their kids, but she couldn’t either, whenever Jacob smiled at her she knew it was a lost fight, and whenever the twins looked at her with those big brown eyes of hers she knew that was another one lost. She watched at Jacob trying to open the bag and she smiled when he said thank you and please with that little adorable voice of his. "Mom, I can't open it!" He said after he tried opening it for a while. “No chocolate yet Jacob, I’ll open it for you later after you’ve eat.” She turned to look at Alex and gave Cecilia to him; Louise made a pouty face for not being her the one who was picked. She observed him taking the flower from his pocket and giving it to her and bent to kiss him. “Thanks, I love you.” Louise played with her hair calling her attention. Anouk snuggled her with her nose and give a little kiss to her daughter. “Go play with Jacob my dear, mom has to make some food.”
Placing Louise on the floor she watched her run to her brother to play with the bags of coins. She nodded Alexei so he would follow her to the kitchen. “How was your day? Jacob tried to play with your art set; I told you dozens of times to place it whenever he can’t reach it.” Being a mother, being a wife, that was never on her plans and now that it was all really happening she didn’t regret any of the decisions she took on the past. Even if they hurt her and hurt him too, they all lead them to this wonderful life.

One thing that Alex didn’t understand was that how could marriage life be so easy? Of course he was getting used to the idea that there weren’t going to be any more problems in their lives, and he was thankful for that idea too because after Anouk leaving and leaving him in some sort of zombie wake, he didn’t want to have to go through something like that once more so in the six years he had enjoyed himself. Which was a surprise because Alex was normally used to waiting, waiting for trouble to just come around the corner but for those six years and the more that were going to come and be spent with his family, he was intending on going through everything happily.
One of the other greatest part about life moving on was that his own gallery was doing better, things were being sold more and he didn’t have to worry all too much about income for their lives. As soon as he sold a few paintings more and more clients kept on coming and he was doing better than he had done better. They had bought their very large house, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge living room and a kitchen; it just seemed perfect didn’t it? It seemed as if they were going to keep doing great all their lives, at least he hoped so. He didn’t want there to be any troubles looming over his children, at least nothing like which happened to Alex and Anouk. He didn’t want his own children to think that they had to go through harsh times just to be happy, he wanted them to be happy, meet the love of their lives and just be fun. He laughed as his twins made noises at him being too close to their momma, they loved her quite a bit, maybe it was because she was always home with them and he was always mainly at work. Keeping Jacob close to him, he made a small kissy face towards the twins who shied away from the affection for a few moments before they truly realized it was their daddy who had just come home.
He just smiled innocently at Anouk as she shook her head at the bag of chocolates he bought; well he was obviously going to spoil them wasn’t he? They were his kids and they needed to be spoilt! At least that was what he thought. Anouk of course didn’t seem to want them to have any fun so he ruffled Jacob’s head when the boy pouted as Anouk told him she could only have it after dinner. Jacob looked up at his father with a pout and Alex chuckled. “Sorry Jake, you’re going to have to listen to your mom now otherwise she’ll hit the both of us!” Jacob pouted and Alex returned his pout, laughing as little Louise made a face for not being the twin that was chosen to be with Daddy. Alex leaned towards Louise, “Sorry baby, later when it’s feeding time ok?” Cecilia began to tug on Alex’ s jumper, making small noises because Alex wasn’t looking at her. He turned his head towards her and smiled wide, making a funny face at his daughter so that she would laugh and it worked. Making sure that Louise wouldn’t trip while she was on her way to her brother, he followed Anouk to the kitchen with Cecilia in his arms. “It was good, how was your day? Well I do! And if I do that he always finds a way to get it you know…” Shaking his head he let out a little yelp as Cecilia began to pull on Alex’s hair. “Cece, Cece honey, let daddy’s hair go, let daddy’s hair go now.” He held the girl close, trying to untangle her chubby fist from his hair while her mouth dribbled..

Being a married young woman was better than she expected. Anouk was really happy being married to Alexei, it was as if after all the suffering they finally reached their happiness, with their life, their house, their amazing children… their life was now perfect, beyond perfect indeed and so quiet and calmed. Her fast-pace life of wild parties was long gone and over with, their bad moments, the bumps in the road were things from the past and now it seemed so little, so insignificant. Right now happiness was the main theme of their lives and Anouk knew it wasn’t going to change anytime soon, they were providing their kids a happy environment, calm, relaxed, happy and creative. Anouk tried to spoil them enough and some time she spoiled them a bit more than necessary, especially Jacob because it had been the first, she had two years to spoil him rotten and he looked like Alexei so much! The twins also were her weakness but she had a soft spot for him. Things were great for them, she was selling her art, Alexei’s gallery was doing great… and she spent all day home because she worked there, they didn’t have to worry much about their income, they were doing perfectly enough to live comfortable.
Alexei spent a lot of time in the gallery but Anouk took the kids to visit him some days in their daily walks. The twins were jealous of the affection their parents showed to each other. Anouk thought their love was going to gradually tone down until it was reduced to just mutual affection, pretty much like all the married couples she had seen around and one of the main reasons she didn’t want to get married back then. She didn’t want to lose that fiercely feeling of love she felt toward Alexei, and luckily for them and even with the kids, they didn’t lose it. It was as if her heart just grew to have the four of them in it, enough love to share without one of them left. She still had that passion for him, and the kids were really good, they didn’t make them go nuts and they could spend long time together. Anouk thought once she had Jacob things were going to change, that she was going to get stressed, that they will go cold toward one another, that Jacob was going to suck pretty much all their time and was going to drive them nuts, but it hadn’t been like that at all, neither with him nor the twins. Anouk laughed at his innocent face, she did want her kids to have fun, she just had to raise them right and be a bit strict sometimes.
With a gasp of surprise she faked a hurt expression on her face and turned to talk to her twins. “You see how bad is daddy with mom?” Louise turned away from his father to nudge on her neck and giggled, wrapping her little arms around her neck. When Alexei talked to her she hid her face on Anouk’s neck, as if to say she was mad with him for not picking her. Anouk laughed. “Shh, you get to be with mommy.” She whispered to her and the little girl smiled. She loved to see Alexei with their kids, how he played with them and made them funny faces, she could sit on the couch with one of the girls on her lap for hours watching him play with Jacob, or leaning against the door frame at night while he softly hummed a song to the twins to make them sleep. “Well you obviously don’t hide it well enough, if he plays with them next time I am not going to stop him, you deserve it just right.” She said winking at him. Turning toward the fridge she got the ingredient she needed to make their dinner and heated the twins’ food. “Do you want some vegetables with the steak? And my day was fine, I took the kids to the park today and they had fun.”
Laughing when he heard him complain when Cecilia tugged on his hair she turned to help him. “Okay dear, let daddy’s hair go.” She helped him untangled the little girl hand from his hair and kissed her nose to make her laugh. “If you keep doing that, daddy will go all ball and that’s not nice.” She said laughing and turning to kiss Alexei, earning more noises from Cecilia who didn’t want them to be so close and not paying attention to her. The twins were just like Anouk, they were going to be heartbreakers when they grew up, all energy and charm, and attention suckers. But it was alright, they were going to be happy and that was what mattered above all.

Sometimes he knew that he spent a lot of time in the gallery but it was needed, he needed to sell work and needed to raise money for his growing family. He wasn’t ever sure if they were going to have more kids, Anouk was twenty six and him thirty one with already three kids, maybe they could put the entire thing on hold for a while and rekindle the passion and love they had for one another before using it to create another life form to push into their little family. He didn’t think they needed much money anyway; they were living comfortably as they could, they were never in short of anything and he was glad about that. He hated saying no to his children, especially if they wanted whatever object they wanted really bad, just saying no to them and breaking their little hearts would probably make Alex feel as if he were being a monster. He didn’t want to be a monster to his children; he wanted to be a superhero because they deserved the best. And Anouk deserved a hell of a lot out of her husband too. He had a few fears towards the birth of Jacob, once kids were born he saw that parents’ energy were always driven towards their child, their love and passion for one another distinguished quite quickly and he didn’t want that to happen between himself and Anouk, if that did then where would that leave them? They went through so much pain and heartbreak for nothing? Thank God that it didn’t happen though, in fact after Jacob was born there seemed to be more of a spark between the two, better and stronger and more passionate than ever an that was exactly what he had worked towards. He wanted the fireworks and the passion and the happiness to remain and they had, they had and the family was just fun and balls now.
Alex let out a little chuckle, rolling his eyes and watching amusedly as Louise tried to cop his eye rolling and then nudges onto her mother’s neck. It was pretty sweet how the kids tried to cop everything that their parents did, as if they were some sorts of role model. But that’s all you tried to do as a parent right? Be a role model? He hoped he could be a good one and never show his children the pain or the mistakes that he ever made, of course in fear that they would ever decide to do the same; hopefully they wouldn’t though. He loved playing around with his children, they were just adorable when they tried to do something right and would always look at either Alex or Anouk for approval. He gasped. “But you’re supposed to make sure Jacob doesn’t do anything wrong…next time you’ve gone off with Scarlett for your shopping trip or whatever I’m going to give Jacob your art set.” He raised an eyebrow sneakily, a mischievous smile just like Jacob’s flashed across his face. Nodding his head at her question, he let out a small smile, moving Cecilia to the other hand so she could play with the heart necklace that Anouk had bought him years ago. Yes, it was still on his neck. “That’s good and yes please honey, I’m starving today.”
He stood still, making a fake annoyed face at Cecilia as the little girl watched in awe while her mother tried to release her hand. Once his strand was free, he gasped as Anouk said what she said. “No I won’t!” But he was silenced by her kiss, so he let out a little laugh, especially when Cecilia began to whine about not getting enough attention herself. Bending down, he patted the girl on her bottom as he left her on the floor. “Go on, go to Lulu and Jake…” He watched as she gurgled at him and trudged along, he was glad his kids knew how to walk otherwise he would have to accompany them everywhere. Turning around back to Anouk he smiled, an eyebrow raised while he hugged her from behind. Kissing her shoulder gently he rested his head against her shoulder and smiled. “Do you think we’ll get the night to ourselves or d-“ The rest of his sentence was cut out loud by Jake’s scream. “Daaaaaaaaddy! Cece took my chocolates!” Raising an eyebrow, he looked at Anouk, shaking his head at her. Well…. hooray for fatherhood?

Anouk wasn’t planning on having more children, even though they had enough money to raise at least another one without being short she had enough taking care of three already. Now she wanted to devote herself to them and Alexei. Thanks to her hard work on the academy she had become famous enough to make some living off her art, she wasn’t as famous as she could get though but it was fine, she was making enough for a decent living and with two incomes they didn’t really need more. Alexei loved to spoil the kids, and the twins especially had a way with him, maybe it was because they looked so much like her and had some of her ways to charm him into getting what they wanted. It was Jacob though, the one who could get his way with her. When he was born it had been… perfect, their love instead of getting weak and making them fight as she had seen in other couples because they were stressed and sleep deprived, it seemed to grow stronger. They spent hours with Jacob, watching him say his first words, watching him give his first steps… and they spent a lot of time together raising their child. Though it was true Jacob sucked a lot of their attention, that attention seemed to be diverted in doing things the three of them together, and Anouk couldn’t help but to love Alexei even more whenever he saw him play with little Jacob.
Now she didn’t have one boy in her life, she had two. But of course, as much as she loved her kids, as much as she would give everything to make them happy, Alexei had been, was, and always will be the first in her list, that hadn’t changed at all, and she was glad it never did. She raised an eyebrow at him, knowing he won’t be able to do such a thing, Alexei never did something to hurt her, even if it was something as little as that, and she tried to do the same, in fact Anouk had warned him about keeping his art set safe from them, and she always told him that he was going to let him play it next time, but she never did. “Ha! You wouldn’t dare.” She said returning him that smile of hers. She smiled as she saw Cecilia play with the heart in the chain, Anouk wore too the key and also the engagement ring. She planned on passing it down to whomever of the three decided to get married first; she wanted that ring to be as special for them as it had been for her back then. She had to suppress the urge of kissing him because food was calling her attention; she needed to make dinner because both of them were starving. “Okay, vegetables is it. Love I am going to the gallery tomorrow with the kids, unless you have an important client? Not for long, I plan on taking them out to the park so they can play with friends and leave them exhausted.”
She smiled all the time she helped him with his hair, that was what being a mother meant, being able to do million things at all once because there was always something calling her attention. “I don’t want it either.” Anouk said giggling loving the face he made when she kissed him. She smiled as she watched Cecilia go and returned to the food, being interrupted by Alexei this time, wanting to be close to her. She didn’t mind, she loved whenever he hugged her from behind and kissed her on the neck, or the shoulder like right now, or the lips… well, she just loved being close to him. She closed her eyes for a second, feeling the warmth of his body, his hands around her. It felt delicious. She rolled her eyes when his sentence was interrupted and laughed a bit, turning to kiss him softly on the lips. “We will have the night for ourselves, you know after the bath they get sleepy. Now go, I’ll finish dinner over here.” She turned again to the food, feeling incomplete when he left his side to take care of whatever was happening in the living room with the kids.

For him the kids were always going to be the cherry on the top, even with Anouk agreeing to marry him, their wedding, their honeymoon…It was always going to be the kids that were born which made him smile more than usual. It was the scariest moment of his life (excluding the part when he saw Anouk on the bathroom floor about to die). When he had to come home early from the gallery, well not even home but to the hospital because Anouk was going into labor with Jacob. At that moment he didn’t think he was ready to be a father, ready to handle the responsibilities that were going to be thrown his way. Night duty, feeding, cleaning, nappy changing duties…it just seemed like a bit too much. Thankfully Anouk hadn’t had most of her contractions yet by the time he had reached the hospital, he did want to be a part of this…though then he didn’t, especially when Anouk tried hurling things at him because he had put her in that position. But he had seen a lot of birthing videos (disgusting) and had known what to do, he had to support his wife, support her in the production of their child otherwise he would be known as the biggest idiot alive. So he urged her to push, blew on her face to keep her calm, tried distracting her from the pain that was trembling throughout her body and then finally a little scream came out, an unhappy cry as their first child Jacob was made. And as soon as Alex saw the little boy’s face…he was ready to become a father.
It was true when Anouk said that he wouldn’t dare giving Jacob her art set, he just loved her too much. Their art sets meant the world to them (you know apart from the entire family and the love they held for each other) and this meant they wouldn’t let anything happen to them. Art was like a big family thing, they ever tried to do these little things where the entire family had an art day. He smiled at Cecilia, she sort of did remind him of his real mother, not just because she was named after her, but because there was a certain charm about her that both Anouk and his own mother had, as a man he didn’t really recognize what it was but he was certain there was something. All the girls in the family seemed to have it, even Louise. Turning around to check on Louise, he rolled his eyes as he saw Jacob taunting her a little with the bag of chocolates he had bought. They were like any other kids, always play fighting, arguing and wanting attention, but it was great. After Jacob, he did feel as if they could handle a few more kids, and they had Louise and Cecilia; it was great! “It’s fine, come to the gallery, what time are you going to be coming around? I’ve got a client at noon, so if you come around one or so then that should be fine.”
He actually loved the idea of Anouk being able to handle everything, she was like a superwoman, and well all women were because they knew exactly what the kids wanted. They had that nine-month bond with them and they were able to know what their own children wanted, the fathers did have their bond once the child was born though…so at least that was a good thing. He nodded his head at her, before making sure the kids were out of sight before he hugged her. Their nights always seemed to be ruined by either one of the twins waking up and demanding food or their nappy changed or Jacob snuggling in between them because he had a nightmare. He didn’t mind, he loved his kids, but it was just sometimes annoying when him and Anouk were in the mood for romance. He sighed and nodded his head. “Yes, yes. Fine, hopefully they can sleep throughout the night for once without waking up.” Shaking his head, he gave her another small kiss to the cheek before running to the kids. Looking at the kids, he saw Jacob with arms crossed across his chest and a pout on his face, Louise playing with the coloured blocks and Cecilia trying to use her hands to rip open the chocolate bag. “Oh Cece…” He shook his head with a small smile as the baby giggled up at him. Sitting down on the floor next to her, he carried her and put her in his laps. Louise seeing this began making her way towards him and once she was at arms reach, Alexei grabbed her, placing her in his lap too. “Ok, let’s share the chocolates yes?” Jacob sat in front of Alex waiting for the chocolate to be shared out.
Alexei opened the bag in his hands, trying to see over the twins’ heads’ as they played with his body in different ways.

When she discovered she was pregnant for the first time, the world came down hard on her. At first she thought this couldn’t be happening to her, she was way too young, they were really happy together alone… She thought a kid would ruin their marriage so soon, but Anouk was wrong. Having Jacob was the most perfect moment of her life, when she hold him in her arms for the first time, when she saw his little face and those little hands and especially when she saw Alexei’s face… well, there was nothing that could match that moment. Cecilia and Louise were the light of the house, with their charm and those manners they had, they were like Alexei in personality but had some traces of her and she loved how they got their way with their father. She thought they would have problems raising three kids but it was far from that, they were quite a happy loving family and they took their kids everywhere and did activities together to make them bond. Anouk and Alexei wanted their kids to have the best childhood they could offer them, and they weren’t failing in that department. Alexei was really a good father and the best husband a girl could ask for, and she was so lucky she had him. “One? Mhm… I will try, they have to eat and everything.”
Anouk love the gallery, she loved it because it was a place that never changed in a way and it brought her many memories. When they weren’t together she liked to visit him there, he spent all his time in there back then and she spent her time out so the only moment they had to be together was there in his gallery. Then when they got together it was a good place to go and have some time alone together. That gallery was so Alexei, it was all him, his essence in every wall and corner and she felt like home when she was there. It wasn’t easy to raise three kids and take care of a house and still have time and muse to paint but she managed just fine because her kids didn’t give her much work, they fought from time to time and liked to play with her mom but they didn’t run around destroying things or crying just to be annoying. Though at nights they didn’t sleep straight all night yet so they had to woke up and hardly ever got time to be together. “Well, bath time leaves them all calm and relaxed which help us get our night together.” Anouk could hear the kids in the living room being noisy over the chocolates and she sighed, finishing dinner and setting the table for them to eat, she smiled whenever she heard Alexei’s voice and the laughs of Jacob and the giggles of her girls.
When she got the living room with all ready she saw Alexei sharing the chocolates with them, even she had said they couldn’t get them until dinner was over. Shaking her head she walked toward them. “Alex, honey, didn’t I say they couldn’t have them yet? Now they won’t eat.” She picked Jacob up to get him to the table and sat him in his chair placing his dinner in front of him. She ruffled his hair though not scolding any of them for that; she couldn’t help it either, spoiling them from time to time. “Weren’t you starving? Dinner is served and ready, it will get cold.” Dinner time was great because it got them together around the table and they shared laughs and events of the day. It was great to see her little family going so well, sometimes she just stopped standing still in the middle of her home and looked around, thanking no one in particular for everything she had and just thinking about how far she got. “Jacob, tell daddy what you did today.” Anouk said while cutting the meat for him to eat. “I went to the park and played with doggy! And then Cece and Lu sat and painted with me.”
She tried to the kids to be creative and got them painting with her sometimes, while they played with their art set she used the time to paint herself and have fun with her kids. They were so adorable when they asked for her approbation or draw pictures of the family!

He nodded his head at Anouk as she told him the kids would have to eat. The kids were just as fussy with food just like how Anouk and Alex were. Coffee was still a big part of Alex’s daily routine, he didn’t even get out of bed unless he was sure that there would be a cup of coffee that could be made in the house, he needed his coffee just as how some people needed their drugs. The good thing about the past six years was that Anouk had never touched drugs again, sure the both of them had alcohol, especially champagne when it was something celebratory, but Anouk had never touched drugs again ever since she had gotten together with him and he was proud of her so much, he always made sure that she knew this because he wanted her to see how proud she had made him, how she had changed him around too. Anouk wasn’t the only one who had changed in their entire relationship, he did too, he was more confident with things now, he knew that experimenting in life was just a part of the entire thing, if you never experimented with things you actually pretty much got nowhere because you didn’t know how wonderful the world could actually be. “That’s fine, or give them a little snack and then we can feed them in the gallery?”
Take his art for example, Alex had experimented with his entire artwork, he had added colours to it, put a theme around most of his paintings (which was pretty much and Anouk and then the children once they were born of course) and had managed to do quite well with it all. People actually liked his art, not liked but loved, the thought that it was great and Alexei was happy with it all. His family had inspired him so much to do well and that was what he intended to do until his children were old enough to take care of themselves. He had set up accounts for each child, putting little bits of spare money in here and there to make sure that if anything ever happened to him like it happened to his mother, then they had something to fall back on and Anouk wouldn’t have to do so much work. He never told her these fears of his because didn’t all parents have this sort of fear? That they may suddenly leave the world and their children would be all alone? Though his children wouldn’t because he would make sure that their mother was always there. “All calm and relaxed? That’s good then.” He winked at her softly before leaving the kitchen for her to do her cooking and for him to have some moments with his kids.
Alexei had already given out the chocolates and was opening one for Cecilia and Louise to share so that they wouldn’t get filled up too quickly. He broke it in half and gave them bits to suck on so that it would melt easily in their mouth. Jacob had finished the five that Alex had already given him and Cecilia and Louise were on their second half’s that they were sharing. Each child had a chocolate ring around their mouths and Alex laughed at it when Anouk came in. “Aw come on, they love it, I’m sure they’ll eat, they’re not bad kids Anouk!” He shook his head at her with a teasing smile before picking up Louise and settling Cece on the floor. “Come on Cece, come on Lou, time for you to eat.” Louise made a disgusted face, sticking her tongue out at Alex and Cece followed Alex blindly into the kitchen, her hands working on trying to open the next chocolate coin. Alex sat Louise in her baby chair and then turned around, picking up Cece and placing her in her chair. Their plates of mush were in front of him, taking a bit of his own food; Alex chewed carefully while trying to get both Cece and Lou to eat their aeroplane food. He then looked at Jacob with a fond smile on his face, “That’s great! After you eat, you can show me what you did and I’ll take it with me to the gallery.” Alex had a little space that was reserved for his kids, whenever they came to his gallery they always ran to the wall first where their works were displayed; he loved seeing their happy faces every time they saw that wall.

Her past wasn’t important anymore; it was that, just past and it was going to stay like that. Anouk was now devoted to the core to her family and her husband, he beautiful kids and Alexei filled her life and she was always making sure things were perfect for them; coffee and breakfast for Alexei, lunch, dinner, making sure he took something with him to eat on the gallery and of course things for the kids. Alexei was always spoiling them because he had a hard time saying no to them, she didn’t… sometimes. She absolutely adored them and when they used their charms on her she just couldn’t say no. Anouk was very proud of what they had, she was very proud of Alexei for being such a good father, for being able to manage the gallery so well, for selling his art… she was just plain proud of him and making him happy was a must for her. They both changed a lot during their relationship and the years they were together they kept learning from each other still and learnt to be better parents. “ Okay we will feed them in the gallery. That will make them very happy.” She turned to smile at him and Cecilia. Anouk would have complained about him being so much at home but sometimes he closed early if he saw there weren’t many people, he could manage his hours the way he wanted and that was better than having a strict schedule.
She loved those bits they had for themselves, just the two of them. She could hear the kids on the living room playing and giggling and laughing and she didn’t have to share Alexei with anyone else right at the moment. Sure those moments never lasted forever but it was fine, they always found time to spend together, always found time to love each other. “Yes, calm and relaxed. A fairy tale or a song and they will sleep all night long.” She didn’t have much to do in the kitchen so dinner was over and done soon. Setting the table she listened to her kids play with Alexei and giggle and a fond smile spread on her face, she observed them quietly before entering the room to ruin their fun. “Well who doesn’t love chocolate? You are always making me look like the bad one.” Anouk said shaking her head and laughing. It was true she was a bit stricter than him with her kids, but not as much as to never let them do fun things or whatever they felt like doing sometimes, they were just kids and she loved that. She bent to clean their mouths once they were all on their respective chairs with the food ready in front of them.
She smiled as the feed Jacob and took Alexei’s spoon from his hand. “You eat love, I’ll feed them, don’t worry.” She feed the three of them during the day and it was easy for her. Alexei sure was exhausted and tired and he would need to eat, take a shower and be able to relax a bit before playing with the kids and take them to sleep. “Can I do it? Can I do it? Mom you hear that! Daddy it’s hanging one of my draws!” She laughed and smiled at him as she got another little piece of meat for him. “Yes, isn’t that great honey? Now open your mouth and eat this.” Jacob did what he was told distracted while with the other hand Anouk feed Lou and then Cece. “After you all eat we are giving you a warm bath and then daddy is going to read you a tale.” She cleaned Louise’s mouth with a kidnap and laughed when she made a face and tried to make it difficult for her. Finally they were all done, as they chatted and laughed about diverse things and Jacob babbled about his day. The phone rang as Anouk was getting up to snatch a bit of food from her plate to eat too, walking to the phone in the kitchen she answered. “Hello? Oh hey there soulmate!” After all those years Anouk still kept his nickname, Cass was an important part of her past and it was still very important in her present and it would be in the future. The kids loved him, if Alexei spoiled them… well that was nothing compared to what he did. “Kids, Uncle Cass is on the phone!” She called and she knew soon enough they will be all gathering around her to pick it and tell them how they had been doing, soon enough Jacob who was older and could ran faster was tugging at her jeans calling her attention. “Give it to me mom! Give it to me!” She smiled passing the phone to him, still holding it so Jacob wouldn’t drop it on the floor.

The kids were his life now, Anouk and the kids. They meant the world to him and if anything actually ever went wrong in his life, if they went away from him for some reason or the other he would be depressed. Though he was pretty much absolute sure about them not leaving him, that had already happened before and both couldn’t live without one another. Now that kids were involved everything meant that they couldn’t be without one another, kids meant everything, they were the world, the new people for the new generation the people that would change everything that was happening in the future. He knew his kids were destined for stardom, the girls were especially because they had the looks of their mother so it meant that they would probably get a good job like a model or something to do with their art. Jacob was of course going to get something good going on in his life, he was doing a great job as a kid already, he knew words that some people even in heir mid twenties didn’t even know! His kids were going to do so well in their lives, he was just so sure of it and they weren’t going to go through pain like their mother and father did. He smiled and nodded his head. “That’s good, a picnic in the gallery. Get a tent, we could eat inside of it and eat and have fun.”
He laughed as Anouk told him that he was always making her look like the bad one. “No I’m not, you’re just being the bad one on your own missy.” He stuck his tongue out at her and laughed at her for a second, watching the love of his love wipe the kids’ mouths. They were so close to one another now, there were no more fights. Their nights were spent either making love to one another or just cuddling with each other and talking about their days. A good relationship always had good communication, no problems were made there because they knew how to communicate with one another and be on a par with each other. He loved knowing about what Anouk did during the day with the kids, loved to hear the fun she had with them and the way she had to shout at them at some points because they were being bad or had to tickle them just to have some good family fun. And he loved the fact that Anouk listened to him, that she never got bored about what he said to her and she never failed to show any reaction to him.
He rolled his eyes as Anouk took the spoon out of his hand and then forced him to eat by himself while he watched her feeding their kids. It was like she just wanted him to relax and never worry about the kids, he wasn’t worrying he was just helping her out and spending quality time while feeding them, it was much better. He laughed and nodded his head as Jacob shouted at Alex. “Of course you can Jake!” He smiled at him, continuing to pick up his fork and use it to eat his food. He laughed as Jake ate and then Lou and then Cece, it was as if they all were a train and was getting their fuel one by one, it was cute. Kids were always making things difficult for their children by the littlest things but parents didn’t mind because they did it in the cutest way possible. He turned his head as the phone rang and continued eating, making a face as Anouk greeted the person on the other side of the hone, Cass, b his old nickname. He stuck his tongue out at Cece and Lou; he never failed to show his dislike for Cass, even though the both of them were so much more on better terms than they were six years ago.

Anouk had a wonderful life ahead of her, she was living it now and it was going to be that way forever. There was no leaving Alexei again like she did in the past, and there was no leaving her kids at all and she had learnt something too, that her marriage with Alexei wasn’t at all like her parents. In the past Anouk had always avoided everything that had to with serious compromise for different reasons, the first one being that she couldn’t be Alexei and there was no one else worth the time or effort, and second because she didn’t want to end like her parents, divorced without talking to each other and fighting all the time over the littlest things. Sure Alexei and she had their ups and downs but they only got over them easily and since they got married they never had a really huge fight, in fact she could barely remember them fighting anymore. Their kids had a lot to do with that, with them being so insanely happy all the time and them being so close together. Jacob, Cecilia and Louise were going to have an amazing future because they were raising them to be happy, loved and creative, and they were quite intelligent. “A tent in the gallery? Well that sounds great!”
Feeding the kids was one of the best times of the day when Alexei was around, the table seemed cheerful and happy and so noisy it was great. She bent to kiss him softly and patted Jacob’s head. “I don’t look like the bad one on my own, you are the father and sometimes you are even worse than them.” She loved feeding them and taking care of them and she loved spending her life with Alexei. They spent their nights together, drinking of each other, loving each other, talking and just enjoying each other company. Anouk just loved to listen to him, how his day had been, his worries, his fun… everything. And she loved how he listened to her too and to the kids how much he loved them and how he just seemed to do everything for them. “Don’t complain, just eat, you’re starving and I’m sure you are tired. You can help when you are done.” Anouk said when he rolled his eyes. She laughed at the Jacob’s outburst and shook her head, she loved him so very much, she caressed his check and gave him another bite of meat.
It was so cute to see them having so much fun and so happy to be with their father. “Mommy! It’s great!” She smiled at him, wiping Cecilia’s mouth and giving her mush and then Louise, the kids were messy when eating but she loved it because it was so much fun and so cute seeing them like that. And they were less messy than in their early years when they threw food to them and the walls. “I want… daddy, what do you want to read me?” Anouk got up to pick the phone, talking a bit with Cass. They loved their uncle Cass because he spoiled the kids no end and was always playing with then, he called at least once a week to know how they were doing and to talk to them. Anouk’s friendship with Cass was the same, it never changed and they kept joking around and just talking the way they used to, Alexei still disliked him but not as much as he used to and he allowed Cass near the kids which was great. “Here, talk to him.” Anouk left Jacob’s with the phone and went to make a face at Alexei’s for sticking his tongue out at the girls because of Cass. “Still jealous after such a long time?” She said joking and kissing him, the girls made noises in protest.

Alex wanted his kids to experience great things in life, to be adventurous and have fun. He didn’t do that, he was too in his own little world, trying to make it out as someone whom people would love and that didn’t give him a lot of time to have fun. But he wanted his children to do the complete opposite, he wanted them to be free birds like their mother because he was sure they’d have a better life like that instead of ending up hating on him because he sheltered them too much. He could only do that until each of them became thirteen, the prime teenage years where everything would change in the parent slash children relationship; Alexei was definitely not looking forward to this. He didn’t want to go through the, ‘letting children go and having an empty nest’ phase that he heard a lot of parents had gone through. He was dreading that day, he hadn’t spoken to Anouk about his ideas of that yet, only because the kids were only toddlers, they weren’t growing up anytime soon and he had a lot of years to spend with them before they went off and did their own thing. That was why he brought up the tent idea; it gave them more time to bond together as a family. Smiling as Anouk told him that being in a tent was a great idea; he nodded his head at her affectionately.
He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. “A father deserves to be bad with his children, it’s proper bonding time. I didn’t have nine months with each of them you know.” He rolled his eyes at her, his lips curved upwards into a smile as he chuckled at the idea. He would never have been able to carry the twins or even Jacob for nine months, especially because no man was even designed to go through pregnancy at all. He didn’t think he’d be able to carry Jacob since the boy kicked a lot, it felt good on the other side but he didn’t know if it hurt Anouk from the inside, pregnancy and the bond between a mother and child was probably always going to be a mystery for the fathers. Nodding his head as Anouk half scolded him, he began to eat his food like a little child, Anouk was definitely right he was as bad as the kids.
As Anouk spoke with Cass, Alex shrugged his shoulders at Jacob. “I don’t know, we’ll see when we get upstairs and ready for bed, OK?” Jacob nodded eagerly while Alex ruffled his hair before the little boy ran towards the phone. He was all right with Cass, their friendship was actually better than before, but come on. What man would ever truly want to be friends with your wife’s ex girlfriend? He doubted there was anyone in the world like that. A hand went onto Anouk’s hip as she kissed him and he pouted, looking at the twins who copied his facial expression. “Of course I am, why wouldn’t I be? Don’t tell me you don’t get jealous when Audrey calls over.” He chuckled a little at his trying to get back at her and leaned up, pulling her down onto him and feeding her a piece of meat before nudging his nose against her. The twins made faces at one another and began playing with their feeding time toys that kept them distracted while Jacob spoke animatedly into the phone with Cass.

Love was the word that described the main theme of her life. Anouk loved her husband and her kids and she loved her life. Changing had been part of the process though she kept being that bounce of energy it was all very different now, she was mature and that meant she had lost a lot of her personality. In a brighter side, she was better off that bits of her personality, she had set her life and was very proud with the result. Anouk had been a free spirit and quite reckless, she loved life and loved enjoying it to the fullest and in the past that side of her brought her a lot of trouble. The part she hadn’t lost at all was her magnetic personality, that force that drew people to her and her natural charm, she hadn’t lost her touch and she believed that was essential to keep Alexei around. Jacob was very much like her when it came to personality, and the twins also had their share, she was sure they were going to break a lot of hearts in a future she didn’t want to think much about. Anouk didn’t dread the moment the kids were out of the house with their lives all sorted out, that would mean she did a good job as a mother. But she didn’t like the idea of teenager years when they would start trying life and tasting different things, if they were smart enough they would never follow the path her mother followed once.
Anouk looked at Alexei scolding, sometimes he was more a kid than their children and though she loved that childish side of him it wasn’t a thing to look forward to when she was trying to educate them. He spoiled the kids and didn’t like to scold them but he could be quite a father when needed to be so it was good, she always knew he would be a wonderful father and so far life didn’t prove her wrong. “Don’t use that as an excuse! If you want more bonding with them, play more with them.” She wanted to say ‘spend more time home’ but she knew how important the gallery was for him. He was a wonderful husband too, they spent time together and he spent time with the kids but she wished he could be around more; he was missing quite an important amount of important events just because he worked too much. “Do you want to get in charge of the bathing today, love?” Bathing was also a great time of the day, the kids loved water and playing with the bubbles and they made a mess of the bathroom. “Yes! Yes! I want daddy to bathe me today!” Jacob said with a big smile. Anouk smiled too and looked at their child with affection.
It wasn’t a surprise for her that Cass called, he was still in her life playing an important part and he was also playing an important part in the kids’ life, when she met Cass for the first time she knew he was going to be in her life somehow but Alexei kept getting jealous of him. Anouk couldn’t understand why though because they were married and very happy but since the relationship between the two boys improved then she had nothing to say at all. She frowned, well she couldn’t help feeling a bit jealous when the girl called too but Audrey wasn’t a potential danger at all and neither was Cass. “You got me.” She said giggling and hummed when he feed her. “Alex! I’m not a kid.” She said laughing after she swallowed the meat and took a gulp of water. Now that the twins were distracted and stopped making noises at them and Jacob was on the phone she could be a bit more romantic with her husband. Lacing her hands on the back of his neck she smiled and kissed him. “I love you.” She made sure of saying those three words at least once during the day; she wanted to make sure he would never forget it and she wanted to make sure he knew it.
