France had definitely been taking some getting used to, it was a very different place from Orange County, California, it was a different sort of hustle and had a different feel about it. Plus... it was definitely colder, that was taking some serious getting used to. For a girl who was used to warm temperatures, and mild weather, the sharp cool air of autumn in France was a rather large change. Still, she'd fallen in love with her job and the city, and was enjoying one of her first days off since moving to France. Walking down the street, she found herself mildly surprised to feel a pang of loneliness. Lily was in school, though she thought of her ever time she caught her reflection in the mirror and saw the locket around her neck, there were two pictures in it, and it remained closed, but she knew what was in it. That was one thing about France that she hadn't become accustomed too, the being in a foreign place and having no friends, and only two family members, though they more than made up for everything. Wrapping her jacket around herself more tightly, the dark haired young woman found herself wishing it wasn't morning, but afternoon so she could pick up her daughter from the daycare that her grandmother had insisted Lily go to, to help her pick up on French. A wise move, but she still wished her daughter was with her instead.
Shivering as a gust of wind tugged at her hair and clothing, she ducked into a coffee shop she'd seen a few times, it was only a few blocks from her apartment, but she'd been busy and had yet to go to it. Running her fingers through the dark hair, she let it fall back into place, the strands framing her soft features gently. The cafe was quaint, a quiet little place were music was playing softly, it had a very bohemian feel to it, and she found herself instantly relaxing. Makayla definitely liked this place, heading to the counter, she spoke to the pretty young brunette behind the counter, making her order, before stepping to the side. Pulling a compact out, she fixed her wind tousled hair, and touched up on her lipstick slightly. Dark hair, she'd decided definitely suited her far better than her blonde hair ever had. It made her look... more natural, it was nicer that was for sure. Though she did look very different, but the upkeep was simpler and required far less effort, which was good when one was taking care of an active three year old.
Realizing her drink order had been called, she stepped up to to the counter and took the drink smiling at the woman, and thanking her politely, before retreating to a table in the back corner. Settling into the chair, she sipped at the coffee, and sighed happily, that was one advantage, European coffee definitely trumped American coffee, there was no doubt about that. Stronger and with a far fuller flavor, it left her with a warm feeling in her stomach. Pulling a book out her purse she shifted slightly, before opening the book to the page she'd left off on. Alice in Wonderland, it was a fantastic book, one she was currently reading to Lily, and the little girl loved the book. She'd noticed the girl was often creating her own worlds as she played, so the book was doing wonders for influencing her creative side. A warm smile curved over her lips as she relaxed and began to devour the book, sipping occasionally at her hot coffee.
