The sun was already shinning through the blinds when Rein finally opened her eyes. She pulled the covers over her head, and snuck a quick peek at her clock. The sun had been up for hours already but it was only just hitting her now. It had been a late night she was at the bar until five o’clock in the morning because some idiots can’t hold their liquor; some guys were getting a little too friendly with her and some of the girls. They ended up getting into a scruff and police had to get involved. By the end of it she had to make a statement and go down to the station. Now it was the weekend and Rein didn’t have any classes or work, so it was time to relax and catch up on some long overdue song writing.
Living in Paris had changed Rein, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally too. She almost felt like a local, she dressed and acted like a local, until she opened her mouth that is. Her strong aussie accent kinda shattered that façade. Emotionally it had changed her the most. She went from the crazy party/rebel child that got kicked out of all the schools her parents could find to a charming elegant lady, during the week that is, but then again on the weekend she did let the wild side come out. Speaking of dear ol’ mom and dad Rein had received another letter from her mom, but she was reluctant to read it. She knew what it was about, it’s always the same thing “How are you doing?”, ”when are you coming home?”, “when am I getting grandchildren?”… blah blah blah.
After letting out a long sigh Rein flung the covers off of her and sat up, letting her legs hang over the side.
“It’s too early” she said as Harley jumped up on the bed.
Rein gave her a quick rub and jumped to her feet. She walked over to her stereo and turned on the radio, a song was playing that she hadn’t heard before but the radio DJ said it was an up and coming new local band, which would also be playing a gig in a couple weeks. She ran over to the bed and scooped up Harley and started dancing around with her clinging to her shirt. Harley only lasted a minute before jumping out of Reins arms.
“Fine, I see how it is” Rein said as her cat ran into the back yard.
Rein kept dancing around her apartment in her pajama shorts and Elvis tee shirt, she gave her blanket a quick tug to straighten it out before she danced into the bathroom and gave her teeth a brush. Next she striped down and jumping in the shower, by this point she was singing along to the song she had never heard before. After she was done she quickly put on a sweater, skirt, some heels and her favorite scarf as she grabbed an apple from the kitchen. Finally with her bag and guitar in hand she was out the door.
Living in Paris outside of the city was nice because you could walk down the sidewalk and not have to worry about it being packed with tourists. A few miles out of the city there is a public park that can be really busy, but if you pick the right time all you see is a few couples or people taking their dogs for a walk. Rein climbed to the top of a large hill to settle in for the afternoon. She checked her watch and saw it was already one in the afternoon. Not a bad sleep, she thought to herself as she took a bit out of her apple. Taking a firm bit and holding the apple in her mouth she fished her notebook and pencil out of her bag. Rein had laid out a blanket, which always had a never ending supply of leaves and sticks stuck in it no matter how much she washed it, and placed her guitar case down on it before taking a seat herself. She placed her notebook on top of the case and leaned back as she took another bit of her apple. Her eyes surveyed the beauty that surrounded her every day; she never got tired of it. Why would anyone want to leave a place like this?

All right, so maybe Sahara should have stayed indoors when she started feeling that familiar itch in her chest, but she just couldn’t do that! The sun was calling to her, wanting her to come out so she could just be herself, but being herself meant with all illnesses and that, and that was just silly. So that’s how she found herself waking up at nine in the morning, her windows already wide open to allow the serotonin and all those happy biological terms that she couldn’t remember into her body, she needed all those things just to keep her going for the day. Don’t get her wrong, she really liked rainy days, they were pretty much nice, but she also liked sunny days too and she was in the mood for a sunny day when her groggy head started to sift things through and made her feel all normal. Sunshine was always there to make you feel better, she knew that because she was always smiling more whenever the sun was out, so she was literally waiting for the day when the weather man told her on television that it would finally be sunny. Woohoo! What else could be so much better than that?
Pulling the covers off of her body, she got ready with ease, the itching in her chest getting louder with every movement, but no. Today she was not going to let that get in the way, she had to try and stop herself and if she could stop herself, then great! And if she couldn’t, then she would probably have just embarrassed herself even further if she did manage to find herself at a hospital. Running a comb through her hair, she spent the net half an hour trying different hair styles, managing to just make it turn into a fluffy ball on top of her head by the end of it. Smoothly slipping on a clip to her head, she fluffed it around her face, leaving it straight and smooth against her head before trying on whatever she could find. She may have felt good about the day, but she was not going to wear anything all too great, so she chucked on whatever she could find. It was much better that way, and if people thought her style was a little freaky…then so what? She loved her style, even if it was slightly weird.
Pulling a wooly hat over her head that had two fluffy baubles hanging on the side, she walked out with a smile, both eyes up towards the heavens as she sent God a little prayer of trying to keep her away from people and to stop herself from faking things. If she could go just this one-day without it, she would be very grateful; and hopefully it would happen. Walking with a smile down an alleyway and over some park hills, she continued to walk, her right arm against her left, cautiously scratching herself to make her realize where she was and how she had to act. Walking over to another hill, she slowly made her way up it, wondering how much further she could go, she needed to stop these weird thoughts going through her head, it just had to be done! For a second, her gaze flicked across the various people on top of the very same hill where she was standing and she smiled at them, until she stopped at a person whom she knew she would recognize. Moving cautiously closer to the blonde head, a gasp escaped her mouth and her eyes widened. “Rein Ella Knight! What are you doing here blondie?!”
