P O C K E T S. Sophia leaned against a fence as she waited around for Alexei to show up. Things right now were going pretty well but she wondered more about him as the time went on. Since meeting back at a cafe during an artists night, she thought things were great. She felt like there was instant chemistry going on. But since then things had remained stagnant. While she wasn’t one who rushed right into the sheets, usually something was happening at this point. Even if it was teenage like with making out all the time. It was weird not even having that. Sure Alexei showed affection but no guy had ever held back like that with her. Sophia was trying to get used to it. She knew he was very gentleman like and treated her like a lady should be treated. Like her family has always said a guy should treat her. Sophia had hardly followed that advice since being here, instead trying to just have fun since know one except one person knew who she was.
Taking out her blackberry, her original intent was to see if Alexei had texted her. But after seeing there was none she now went on to reply to a text from her mother. Sophia missed her parents a lot even though how her life had been was better. She still had her luxuries with her penthouse and allowance but no one knew anything about her. All she told them was her father was a lawyer who came from family money and people believed her. It was a little funny how easily people believed her. Either that or they just didn’t care. Still when things got hard and people tried to push into her life, including her inviting her parent’s to family events at school, she had a friend to turn to who understood that. His reasoning for being in Paris away from his family was different but they kept each other’s secrets.
With a glance up, she didn’t see Alexei right away so went back to texting. Her lips pulled together as she hummed a tune she heard walking the halls at school. Her jacket held back the slight breezes while her blue dress hugged her curves. She wasn’t sure if the date would lead her away from the park or if they would stay here so she just prepared for anything. Sophia never pushed a guy to do anything fancy or special for her even if she liked to spoil herself. The gold band with the saying of her longtime editor and friend was clad on her wrist, like it always was. The bracelet never left her wrist since Marcus’ family gave it to her. It was like having a little piece of him with her even though he was no longer alive. A story that was still a bit to painful for her to share. even to guys she had dated for a longer period then her current relationship.

A date, it was probably his third or fourth time seeing Sophia and he was still nervous. Nervous mainly because he knew that Anouk didn’t like her, that there was no way the girl wanted to agree to Alex fake dating another woman, the stupid thing that he did though, was that he didn’t tell Sophia she was a fake girlfriend for him. She just knew that they had gone on a few dates and that was that; other than that he hadn’t told a single lie to Sophia and he hoped that if anything went wrong in his life, like it always probably did, she would believe him later on about everything else instead of accusing him of playing her. He liked her, he really did and if Anouk didn’t like him, if both him and Anouk didn’t get together and if he wasn’t truly and thoroughly in love with her, he could see himself falling for Sophia because she really was a beautiful person; he just hoped that nothing would go wrong. But later he would soon find out that his hoping would never do anyone any good.
He looked at the time, realising that he was running late and quickly fixed his hair, locking up the gallery for his lunch break, or even longer depending on how much time Sophia wanted to spend with him, and then made his way to the park where they were going to meet. He hurried a little, he knew Sophia wasn’t a patient person whereas he was, she was like another Anouk; impatient with everything and he was sure that she would even want sex soon. How could he do that though? He was just recently giving into Anouk and doing everything with her, it wasn’t as if he’d just do that with another woman so people wouldn’t suspect their relationship; no way. She was getting impatient, but he had made it clear from the start that he was a gentleman and that he would take it slowly with her; because come on, who didn’t love gentlemen? Who didn’t love a bit of care every once in a while from a guy instead of meaningless sex?
As he came to a stop just a few metres away from the park, he smiled as he noticed Sophia leaning against the fences, walking towards her he smiled as he realised she hadn’t noticed him yet. Coming to a slow stop in front of her, he leaned forwards and pecked her on the lip. “Hey sweet heart, you weren’t waiting too long were you?” He looked genuinely concerned, no he wasn’t faking this part, and he just didn’t want Sophia to have to put that much effort into this relationship. Moving his hand he put them against her jacket and pulled it closer against her body, worried because the weather was slowly starting to turn for the worst; it was obvious that winter was pretty soon coming. Smiling softly at her, he moved a hand and gripped hers gently. “So what do you want to do? Shall we get something to eat and walk around?” Tilting his head at her, he watched her questioningly, smiling, hoping that she couldn’t see he was actually pretty nervous about this.

I 'V E. B E E N. C O L L E C T I N G. Y O U R. W O R D S. L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Even though she was going to school in Paris there were still things Sophia had to do for back home. During the holiday’s she had many charity events and family parties to go to. She was on the board for a charity for runaway teens in Amsterdam. especially ones who got caught in the red light district but wanted a way out. Right now they were building a new home for these teens to go to, especially if their home life wasn’t a good one to go back to. There was that plus keeping up with school was exhausting her. So when she met Alexei and they started going out on dates it was a huge stress relief. Yes it took some time away from the things that had to get done but it actually helped to clear her mind. And she was writing better with her novel then before. Apparently Alexei was some sort of muse for her. Hopefully that’d last long enough so she could make some progress in the storyline. If she decided to go back home then she wanted to have something she could proud of to show her family. To prove that she could handle a career writing and doing everything else that she must.
Sophia jumped at first when Alexei had appeared. She hadn't even heard his footsteps to close out of the conversation. While she talked about her parent's obviously not everything was said. It's not like it was a really big deal but the dark times after the accident and some not-so-flattering party photos were out there. Those were things she didn't want to follow her. Of course she didn't have it as bad as Hannibal since he was much higher up when it came to monarchy levels. There were just things related to events and duties back home she had been talking about were blatantly on the screening. She tucked her phone away before she could ease up and let a smile form on her face. With a shake of her head she wrinkled her nose. ”No I had a distraction so it helped the time pass.” No need to go into it anymore then that. When she looked into his face Sophia’s heart did a flip. While she was confused about him holding back she loved how sweet he was around her. Like her well being mattered more then his own. When was the last time a guy had done that for her that wasn’t just a friend? She hadn’t dated such a sweet guy in who knew how long.
When he pulled on her jacket, Sophia laughed and reached up to grab his hands. ”Remember I’m from further north then here. I can handle a little breeze.” She stuck her tongue out playfully before her hand moved down with his. A glance down the path showed different people passing by. A few joggers went by as well as a couple students she recognized. With a shrug she looked back at Alexei. ”I’m not too picky right now. Not particularly hungry but a snack isn’t out of the question. I waited for you so now you have to pick.” With her free hand Sophia pinched at his side. She loved the beginning of a relationship where everything was fun and light. Where the two got to know one another but it wasn’t always serious about the woes of getting by on their own. Maybe if things went well as they went along with things she’d let him in on her family and extended family. How’d he react to her keeping such a big secret she wasn’t sure. Sophia was always scared of what would happen if those things came out before she was ready. All she wanted was to go to school without the worrying about anything.

It was difficult to be in a relationship without much touching, that he could tell because he was so used to hugging his girlfriends, so used to giving them little pecks on their cheeks and giving them small amounts of affection every time they met but this time it was different with Sophia because he already had a girlfriend and so he couldn’t do much with her. Sophia would have been the type of girl Alex would have gone for if Anouk hadn’t loved him, not that he cared about that anymore. He just felt guilty for playing her like that, he felt guilty that he was playing her but it was something that needed to be done. She was a sweet girl and he hoped that she would get over the betrayal that he put on her. If Alex was sure, if he was reassured that there would be no problems between himself and Anouk when the both of them had come out into the open about their relationship to their parents, then he wouldn’t have gotten a cover girlfriend for himself, he would have marched straight to his parents and told them the entire truth; but there was no reassurance only Anouk could reassure him but sometimes she could be wrong.
Smiling when she jumped as he appeared, he let out a little chuckle because it was cute. Which made him feel even worse because he was thinking the little things like that even though he was doing so wrong to her. That thought would always be at the back of his mind every time he met her, it would be nagging at his brain to come out into the open but Alexei always made sure that it stayed back; he didn’t want to lose Sophia all so suddenly; it wouldn’t do him good or the relationship between himself and Anouk all too good either. He knew Anouk was having a difficult time thinking about himself in the presence of Sophia, Sophia was a nice girl but he wouldn’t throw away Anouk for her, he loved Anouk and she meant so much to him, more than Sophia ever would and he knew that was a horrible thing to every say to a girl so he would keep that down. “Oh, well that’s good. What was the distraction then?” Mimicking her wrinkling his nose, he let out a little laugh. He was the type of guy who liked to know what his girlfriends did and their background.
Lacing his fingers with her, he couldn’t help but to notice the subtle differences. Her hands were much colder than Anouk’s, much tanned and toned too; she was beautiful no doubt about that but she would never be able to compare to his Anouk; another thing he knew she would never like to hear. Sticking his tongue out at her, he rolled his eyes in a funny manner; a smile still on his face at her childishness. “Can you dear? I hope so because it does tend to get quite cold here during the winter.” Looking around at the joggers and at the people in the park, he eyed her for a second as she spoke and nodded his head at her. “Hmm, well I think we should walk around the park for a few minutes before going over to that little shop in the corner for a coffee; they do the best coffee there.” Smiling at her, he moved an arm and wrapped it around her shoulder, putting his other hand in his pocket he began to walk with Sophia. “So how’s school going for you?” Looking around the place, he smiled at some joggers that passed by the both of them; this was weird to say in the least.

I 'V E. B E E N. C O L L E C T I N G. Y O U R. W O R D S. L I K E. P R A Y E R S. I N. M Y. P O C K E T S. Sophia tucked her phone away once the last text was sent and smiled softly. ”My mom. She’s wondering if I’m coming home for the holidays.” Sophia hated not being able to tell him more but she had to hold back. That or lie and right now she really didn’t have a good lie. She said her father was into business but that was all she had going for now. It wasn’t entirely untrue; he did have a couple shops going along with his regular duties. He liked to dabble in different things and add to the family fortune instead of spending it all out. The family got paid for their government work since the royals still had a major part in it, but that still wasn’t much. Those were all things Sophia had to think about taking over and some point in time. Sometimes in made her uncomfortable but she knew it was her duty. Her parents had been unable to conceive another child so they couldn’t ask anyone else to take over. If she could find a partner who would stand by her when that time came. Part of being good as a duke or duchess was having someone else there who could be just as involved as you were.
Despite how much she liked Alexei, she always wondered about him. He was much more different then many other guys. Still, she didn’t dwell on it too much as they were still in the “honeymoon” phase of their relationship. That was always the most awkward part and Sohia had forgotten that. While she had been on dates it had been awhile since she had been in an actual relationship. Lifting a brow playfully, there was a half smile that teased on her lips. ”Well if I get too cold I’ll have you to curl up against.” Sophia wasn’t completely naive to her looks. She took a lot of pride of keeping up with her skin and hair health as well as physical health. Those assets were used to advantage when she decided to play that card. Usually by now with a guy she didn’t have to but it was also that flirty stage so she was using everything she had in her arsenal. Some was very subtle while other gestures showed that she was very much attracted to him. When Sophia saw something she wanted she went after it full force and didn’t let anyone get in her way. Be it with shopping or with a guy, she was a forward girl. Being away from home did that to her; she didn’t have to play it proper to keep up a good appearance.
As a breeze went through, Sophia tucked some strands of hair back and out of her eyes. Her body leaned sideways into Alexei as they started their slow walk. Despite how meticulous she was with many things in her life, when with Alexei she took things as they came. It was a bit like Sophia had split personality. Depending on what was going on would decide which part of her came out. As long as Alexei was prepared to handle that then she would be the luckiest girl. Wasn’t that every girls dream to find a guy who could handle all the craziness that she had going on? As she shrugged against his shoulder, her mouth turned down in a slight fornw. ”Exhausting. Finals are coming up so the pressure has been on. Plus keeping up with writing assignments there is letting my own work fall through the cracks.” Exhausting didn’t even cover it though. Some nights she passed out from staring too long at books and writing whatever she had to. When she woke up her bed could be littered with papers and school books. Complete opposite of how she wanted to wake up each morning but that was the life of a university student. Not that her apartment was very typical of a struggling student. Her flat was was very high end and decorated to her classier tastes. ”Well we can’t talk about your school work. Anything new at the gallery worth me checking out?”

His smile was intact, it was as if he never had to stop smiling with Sophia because she was his girlfriend now, if he looked upset she would start asking questions and he didn’t want that at all. He never delved into Sophia’s past because it was far too early in their relationship, in the relationship where she thought it was real and he didn’t and he didn’t want to ask her so many questions about herself in case she felt the need to reciprocate. Smiling, he nodded his head at her. “And are you going? Because my family was going to have a small gathering and I was thinking of inviting you. I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to go home though.” Flashing another smile her way, he allowed his thoughts of Anouk to sieve through to the back of his mind. He was sure that she was going to bring Nick, her cover boyfriend, so it was a good idea for him to bring Sophia wasn’t it? It didn’t matter if Anouk was hurting because he was hurting too, so they could call it even. But he had to stop thinking like that; he loved her and he was supposed to protect her, he just couldn’t protect her from himself.
He wondered how he could protect Sophia from himself, he knew that pretending to be his boyfriend would hurt her a lot whenever she did figure out the truth but he wasn’t going to tell her. He could just break up with her telling her that he thought they were both over and that there was no reason for them to carry on their relationship; he could do just that and in the end she would be hurt but she’d be able to carry on with her life instead of thinking that he faked everything with her. Smiling, his arm around her shoulder tightened a little bit and pulled her closer to him. “That’s very true, you have me to curl up against. I hope my bones don’t jut out and poke you though.” Smiling, he let out another laugh of his own. He knew exactly what Sophia meant, she was a girl who took no prisoners; that much was obvious and he knew she wanted something else from him, but he wouldn’t give into her that easily because he didn’t even give into Anouk that easily. Sophia was a nice girl, she was amazing and she was beautiful and he knew there was a lot of guys who would want her, but Alex had her right now and he did feel guilty about that, but he was going to put her back on the market very soon so she could have her fun like a lot of girls should.
Looking around at people, he continued to walk with her, an arm still around her shoulder. She was taller than Anouk, maybe just by an inch or so, he couldn’t help but to notice all these little differences between the two girls that were currently in his life. “Poor you, I’m glad that chapter of my life is over and done with. Well that’s what you get if you take writing as a subject, so many essays.” Squeezing her shoulder he smiled again. “But don’t worry about it, I’m sure you’ll do great and when you realise you’ve done great you can party all you want.” Letting out an easy laugh, they passed a few more people and walked out through the gates of the park. Stopping for a second, he looked left and right before crossing the road, tugging Sophia along with him at an easy pace and didn’t speak for a few seconds until they were safely on the other side. Looking down at her he shrugged. “There’s nothing really new, but you can always check out Anouk’s work, I added in another painting of hers and I shall be doing one myself soon. Want to help me with it?” his eyes sparkled a little as he looked at Sophia eagerly before he actually realised what he was doing. He had no idea why but he felt so at ease with the girl and he knew he was going to have to stop himself soon.
