Their relationship didn’t start the best way, if you count her suicide attempt and all her problems with alcohol and drugs into it. They had a lot of things to solve between them and she knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Why was she thinking about all this right now when she should be as happy as a princess in a fairy tale? Because Alexei wasn’t happy, that was it. He was troubled and worried and was thinking about something that he wouldn’t tell her at all, and she knew that was dangerous. They both shouldn’t be worrying about all those problems which could be solved later, but he couldn’t help it. Anouk knew him too well to know what was going inside her mind and that scared the hell out of her. Was he going to get his words back after all? Was this damned from the start? She knew it was; She just hoped they could solve the problem before they tear each other apart. Why today, of all the days they had ahead, had he to worry about everything? Anouk frowned her eyebrows at him, not believing his words one little bit, you couldn’t lie to someone who had a master in lying and hiding, she would always know you were doing it. Casting her eyes down she smiled at their joined hands, at least a gesture of his own, at least he was touching her a little bit, she was starting to worry she wasn’t appealing enough for him. But being as intelligent as she was, she wasn’t going that to ruin their night. She will have time to bug him about it later, because she knew way too well what he was thinking about. Guilt could be clearly seen in both her eyes and his. And it wasn’t often that she shown her emotions to someone, but she wanted him to know that she was worried and that he could trust her with whatever was eating him up.
They would find a way around it. What was the point of going out together if they couldn’t? “I don’t believe you one little bit, but I’ll let it go.” She said smiling up to him, feeling the warm of his hands on hers she felt secure, comfortable. Anouk didn’t want to let go of that hands, she wanted to cling to them forever on, but she knew she couldn’t. She sighed, a heavy sad sigh and without realizing it her eyes went to rest on the scar in her left wrist. It was still recent, the skin a bit tender and pinkish with the edges a soft red. It was going to remind her forever of what she did, there was no way around that. It was entirely her fault and she knew it, she hated it when Alexei tried to take the blame or erase it off her shoulders. It was a burden she will have to carry all her life and she was determinate to do so. “I did this Alex. It was me who did it, the reasons were my reasons, and it was my choice. No one forced me to; no one did the choice for me. You will have to deal with it, and so do I.” She looked at him, fierce determination in her eyes. “You can’t blame yourself for this.” She tried to drop the subject to a lighter one, and smiled when he agreed of going with her to the boats down the river. Her face lit up at the idea of their first date out in the open, a romantic one nonetheless. “Really?” She flashed him the brightest and sweetest smile she could manage though hating it when Alex let go of her hand. “I’ve walked around in party clothes with barely nothing covering my skin, I think I won’t catch a cold.” She raised her eyebrow at him but it was sweet of him worrying about her health, eating as quickly as she could so they could leave for their first date.

It was really awkward to say that he was in love, because Alexei never seemed to show any signs that he loved someone, but Anouk was the lucky girl who was going to get him, she was lucky enough that he loved her in the sense of more than a brother. He was actually quite surprised when he started to have feelings for her, after she had told him for the first time it was really awkward, but that night in bed, when he felt angry at her, he was surprisingly calm actually and he thought long and hard. He wanted to figure out so much, his head went through a lot of thoughts in the next few days and most were actually unpleasant. But he saw Anouk in a new light, at first he thought he was going crazy when he started thinking about her more and more, especially when he had his first dream about her. It was awkward and wrong, but now he saw nothing wrong with it, he was thinking and dreaming about the girl he loved, that was all right wasn’t it? He did think that their relationship was doomed from the start, there were going to be outside factors which would doom them, but who knew what would happen? He just had a gut instinct that they would have to break up sooner or later, either because of their parents or because Alexei would suddenly come up with the idea that it was wrong and they had to put an end to it straight away. He hoped the later didn’t happen though, he didn’t want her to be hurt; in fact he hoped the first didn’t happen either. Who knew what their parents would say? And they weren’t going to give up on their relationship now because their parents had no idea that was the best part.
It would work out in the end, he was, sort of, sure of that. He smiled and nodded his head appreciatively at her answer. “Thank you.” He muttered softly, looking at their joint hands with a small smile, he could see that Anouk was happy by the little affection that he showed her such as the red rose and these little touches, he made a mental note to do little things like that more often, after all Anouk looked beautiful with a smile and he didn’t want to lose an opportunity to see her with a smile on her face. His eyes caught a sight of her scar for a second but he looked past it, he didn’t want that little reminder on her body and hoped that it would heal soon enough, he was afraid that the little reminder might make her decide to it all over again, but Anouk was smart, and he hoped that her intelligence would keep her from doing anything like that ever again. He loved her too much that he didn’t want to lose her again. “Can you please stop blaming yourself? If you keep blaming yourself then I’ll blame myself and I don’t like you blaming yourself and you don’t like me blaming myself, so it’ll turn into a long and pointless argument.” He smiled softly at her as she told him that he couldn’t blame himself, shrugging his shoulders, he just kept his mouth shut because of what he has said. They didn’t really need to have a long and pointless argument over this, it was just stupid. He raised an eyebrow at her words and shook his head. “Fine, do what you want, but while you freeze I will be warm and toasty.” He smiled smugly and got up from his chair, throwing the leftover food in the bin before standing next to the sink and washing his plate. The sooner they left, the better, no one would see them at this time of night around the boats.

She never knew how Alex had reached the conclusion of loving her; she had no idea what had been crossing his mind all the time they were apart after the fight. She couldn’t very well ask him what had crossed his mind when he had seen her in the bathroom. But Anouk knew one thing very clearly, she was going to put up with any crap he might throw at her, and it wasn’t in the sense of him giving her hell, more of him being shy, awkward, scared and all that. He could be moody, get into his shell again, have bad days… and she wouldn’t care one little bit going through all that if that was going to keep them together. Of course she might show some annoyance and pick on him from time to time, but because she just wasn’t going to show how weak actually she was against him. He was going to get insecure, throw her in the face her long list of past boyfriends and her experience, and he would be right about it, she wasn’t going to complain or deny it, because he had a right to do so. She just wanted him to know she was going to be there no matter what, but she had to put some limits in case things went downhill and she had to learn to be without him. She needed a break, a safe place to hide, some corner inside her she could cling to if everything else crashed around her and vanished.
She smiled at him, at his exasperation when she told him about the blaming thing. Anouk knew from the start it was useless to tell him, but she had to try and this probably wasn’t going to be the last time she raised the topic so she could lecture him about it. “You are right about this being pointless, it’s not like any of us will give in with this anytime soon.” She said laughing. She then proceeded to raise an eyebrow at him and laugh. Alex was always worrying about her, just like a father. She didn’t know if that was good or bad but it was definitely cute. She checked him saying nothing yet, he was so handsome, so… perfect. They had joked about him being hot before, once in his gallery when she had started to spend again more time with him. She had always meant what she said; it was hard to keep her eyes off him, not to say her hands or the rest of her body for that matter. “I could always cuddle close to you and use your jacket and your body to be warm.” She answered him. She needed to find a nice outfit, but she was sure he wasn’t going to allow her to change of clothes, that would take ages for her. She knew he was worried about them being seen out and about in a romantic situation, but to be honest she could care less. Anouk wasn’t one of thinking things over, she never thought about consequences and if she did they weren’t important enough.
She got up and went to his side keeping as close to him as she could get, feeling his arm bumping against her as they both cleaned things up. She was bubbling with excitement at the prospect of their very first romantic date and she hoped as hell more were to come. “Eager, aren’t we?” She said laughing as he did everything as fast as he could. For once she was seeing him really excited for something besides art and the gallery and it was nice to see that bit of change on him and knowing it was her doing.

He was never going to tell Anouk what had gone through his mind after she had revealed to him how much she liked him, he had no reason why he just didn’t want to. It was going to be embarrassing if he ever told her how much he actually did like her, she probably thought he didn’t like her much at all, just that he was getting into the mind of liking her, but he really did; he just couldn’t tell her this out loud. “You’re right; none of us will actually ever give this up.” He laughed a little, knowing that it was fully true, but in his mind he would always be the cause of everything that had happened. He didn’t like it at all, he was the cause of everything bad that had happened to Anouk and he wondered how she could even forgive him this easily. Here she was, giving him an already made dinner that she cooked herself, smiling and being happy at everything that he said but it was his entire fault. It was as if she could push everything bad about him away and Alexei knew that he didn’t deserve a person like that in his life, but if he told her this he was sure to get a kick up his ass; so he went on not telling her. He smiled at her and raised an eyebrow. “Cuddle me? Well. If that’s what you want, just telling you now that I smell though, I haven’t had a shower yet after all.” Arching both eyebrows, he smirked softly before removing it from his face.
He glanced sideways at her every few seconds as their elbows bumped against one another while they were washing up their plates and glasses, he was about to tell her that he could manage the entire thing but it seemed as if they were already done. “Yes, very. The sooner we get out of here, the better; mum and dad might be back soon.” He nodded at her sternly and just smiled. Moving away from the sink, he walked to the front of the house, near the door, grabbing his jacket off the hook and his scarf, he began wrapping a scarf around his neck before putting on his jacket. Looking back he called for Anouk. “You coming?”
