it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --His neck angled up at the menu, eyes rapidly reading, he made his decision. "Um, can I just have a mint Tisane please?" Connor usually just had a cup of coffee, but he decided to try something different today, herbal tea. He tapped his pale, angular fingers on the counter while the girl made his tea. His eyes darted around, looking at the cafe. Dim lights with soft jazz playing. So far, he counted two black loveseats, along with one sofa, and a couple of wooden chairs with matching tables, along with only a few people, either on their laptops, or reading books. "Do you want sugar?" A soft voice asked him, cutting off his train of thought. "Yes please," he nodded, still tapping his fingers.
When the girl finally set the drink on the counter, he nodded, laying the money on the counter as well, along with a little extra tip. "Thank you, sir," Connor nodded once more, then grabbed his steaming hot cup and walked over towards a leather love-seat in the corner. He found that it had the best light for reading. Settling into the soft chair, with tea in one hand and book in another, he silently sipped his tea carefully, testing it. Connor decided that it was excellent, especially with the extra kick of mint added to it.
Savoring the warmth in his belly, he set the cup onto the side-table next to him. Biting his lip, he carefully opened his tattered copy of Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. Connor decided that it was a classic and one of his all-time favorite books. He has read it about ten times, and always loves the ending. After a couple minutes, Connor got into the story when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Sighing, he took out his phone and quickly checked the caller ID, his sister Lily. Smiling, he hit "answer" and growled, "Hey there stranger," "Connor! Guess what!" Now that earned her a grin. "What Lily?" he asked, making his voice excited. "I got accepted into Julliard!" Connor could almost hear Lily's grin from the phone. "That's great Lils! I'm so proud of you," "Thanks Connor! I can't beli-" Lily broke off, her voice turning into a sigh. "Oh God Connor, I gotta go, I'm babysitting," "No prob Lily. I will talk to you later!" "Thanks Connor, bye!" He could hear Lily scolding the kids when he hit the, "end" button.
Smiling, Connor simply shook his head and turned his head back to his book, listening to the smooth jazz music in the background.

Rosslynn did understand why her class had to do this. In front of everyone in a small cafe. Well, at least the had asked the manager first before doing something called a 'Flash Mob'. Thankfully, they were singing and not dancing. Ross felt a little nervous as she sat there in a matching coat as her other classmates. 'Ok...just..wait....almost time...' she thought. Her bervous were making her shake. Why? Well, she had one of the main leads. Which was ok. Once she began singing, her nerves would go down. So, until then, she would site and act casual.
The clock struck 3 PM exactly and she smiled. Soon, there were murmurs getting louder and louder. Following along with them, she took of her jacket and began singing her part. “Just a city boy. Born and raised in South Detriot! He took the midnight train going anywhere.” she sang, her nerves dying away. The customers all looked over and watched as the flash mob progressed. She smiled softly and started swaying with the now formed Music students to make a semi-circle. Her voice forming in with the many Da da da da da da da's of the higher ranged singers in the group she was in.
The other main singer sang his part and she came right in with hers, strong and with a smile on her face. “The smell of wine and cheap perfume.” But soon, her voice and the other main singers voice melted together in harmony. “For a smile, they can share the night. And it goes on and on and on and on. Strangers, waiting. Up and down the boulevard. Their shadows searching in the night. Streetlight, people. Living just to find emotion. Hiding, somewhere, in the night.” they sang.
The customers all around where clapping in time with the musicians as they sang. And this made Rosslynn happy. Even the manager had started swaying and dancing to the beat. “Working hard to get my fill. Everybody wants a thrill. Payin' anything to roll the dice, just one more time. Some will win, some will lose. Some are born to sing the blues. Oh, the movie never ends. It goes on and on and on and on.”
The song continued and ended with a big finish. The crowd clapped. The group bowed and Rosslynn pulled away from them. She wasn't good at hanging around a crowd as she was singing with them. She walked over to the counter and ordered a mocha then went over to a seat to herself.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --Connor looked at the scene unfolding in front of him. It looked like a group of students from school were going sing a flashmob in the cafe. He certainly wouldn't want to do that, which he didn't thankfully. Connor would stay in writing.
He saw a girl around his age had the solo, and she looked rather nervous. Connor gave her a gentle smile to perhaps ease some of her nerves. Once the clock struck three, they began, starting with the girl. Her voice was actually quite good. After the group finished, he clapped, his eyes trained on the lead singer.
Once the girl got her mocha and sat down, he decided to try and talk to her. Grabbing his book and tea, he walked over to her, his eyes trained on the floor. Connor cleared his throat, and smiled, looking at the girl. "You have an amazing voice," He paused, waiting to hear her reaction.

Rosslynn sat there and sighed softly. She was so happy that the flash mob thing was over. Leaning back slightly, she didn't notice the man come up. As soon as he cleared his throat though, she looked up and tilted her head a little, smiling slightly at his compliment. “Err....T-Thank you...” she said, thanking him for his kind words. Blushing slightly, she scooted over and patted the seat beside her, offering him a seat slowly. The way his voice and accent sounded, it seemed he came from a foreign country as well. Ross, being from Scotland, knew how it felt to be away from home. But that was all right for her. “I'm...Rosslynn Newlanders....You can call me Ross, if you want...” she said, her scottish accent strong.
She hated how strong her accent was, since it was harder for most people to understand her. However, when she sang it was all right, cause no one could tell that she was Scottish. Things were just weird that way, she guessed. Sipping her mocha, she glanced over at the man. He was attractive, very attractive. Which made Ross blush more. The brunette hoped that he wouldn't notice, but if he did, oh well. Her eyes looked at the book he had and she pointed at it slightly. “Oliver Twist? That's a wonderful book. One of my favorites...” she told him, her voice shy and timid like normal.
One of the guys from the flash mob came over and asked her if she wanted to go eat with him. Rosslynn shook her head, which the guy left then. “He tries to hard...” she mumbled, but she looked back at the other man with a gentle smile. “Thank you....for giving me that gentle smile...it did help.” she said, thanking him.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --"I'm Connor, Connor Knight," he gave a small smile, introducing himself. "It's good to meet you Ross." Connor loved her heavy Scottish accent ringing in his ears. Strangely, he couldn't detect it while she was singing. He thought about his accent, and how strange it must be to hear it for a foreign person. Oh, how he missed home sometimes, and his sister... He stopped himself from going too far off the train of thought and simply smiled at Ross and sat down next to her. “Oliver Twist? That's a wonderful book. One of my favorites..." Connor grinned, "Finally someone that doesn't just read Twilight."
When the other man came up and asked Ross to go out, Connor tensed, the floor suddenly very interesting to him. Once Ross declined, he made a small smile and looked up at Ross. The one thing that Connor hated was when guys treat girls like garbage. "Your welcome, Ross. It looked like you needed it." A smile played across his lips. "So, are you from Scotland?"

Rosslynn gave a soft smile and blushed. He had a sweet smile, and that is something she liked. “And it's good to meet you as well, C-Connor.” she said, stuttering a little. Biting her lip a little, she looked down at her mocha and listened to him speak. Chuckling a little she shook her head. “The only thing good in Twilight is the werewolves....Vampires do not sparkle.” she said, giving her reason for not liking the series. “But really, other than that it was a good series....but I like the more...classic....stories....Like Peter Pan, Oliver Twist, and Little Women..” Ross looked at Connor and gave a small grin. Sipping her mocha a little more, she looked at the cover of the Oliver Twist book. She found it interesting, really.
Giving a soft sigh, she looked back at Connor with her chocolate brown eyes. He spoke again and it made Ross blush again. His voice was quiet and sweet. Such a wonderful sound as if music came from him just by speaking. “Aye, I come from Edinbourgh, Scotland. Out in the country near a lake and forest....there are also ruins of an old castle near where my parent's house is...” she said, nodding gently and smiling sadly. How she missed her home. But, she wouldn't return there for a long while. Looking at the man beside her, she tilted her head. “You're....not from around here either...Where are you from?” she asked gently.
'Why does it feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest?' she thought to herself as she looked down at the liquid in her coffee cup gently.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --He loved the warmth added to her cheeks, and how easy he can make her blush, he found it adorable. His hands wrapped around his tea and he sipped the lukewarm liquid, savoring the taste on his tongue. "I finally found a girl who likes the classics, it only took me eighteen years."He chuckled as his hands skimmed around the mug's rim. His eyes rested on Ross's warm chocolate eyes, then darted away.
Sighing, Connor listened to her speak about the home that she grew up at. He nodded wistfully, "Excellent work detective. I'm from a little town in Seattle, were it rains three-hundred days a year." Connor smiled, remembering the memories. "I was talking to my sister, a few minutes ago. Lily is her name, she just got accepted into Julliard. She wants to be on Broadway." His eyes rested on Ross's eyes again, searching. "Do you miss Scotland very much?" As much as I miss Seattle? He added silently in his head.
Sipping his tea silently, he glanced outside to see it was pouring down rain. Connor grinned, loving the sound of the pounding rain on the rooftop. Rain always reminded Connor of where he came from, and all the memories that came with him. Connor rested his gaze back onto Ross's beautiful brown eyes, with a soft smile playing across his lips. "Oh, I love the rain," he grinned.

Ross smiled and chuckled with him as he commented on how long it took him to find someone who enjoyed the classics. Their eyes met slightly, causing her to blush slightly more, then they both looked away at the same time. It was as if a mirror was put in front of them and they mimicked each other slightly. She looked over at him, glancing slightly, as a grin came to her face. “Yeah...me mum told me once they I was...err...one in a million.” she said softly, biting her lip a little again out of nervousness. This was nice, just to sit and talk to someone who had something in common with her.
She heard him sigh, which caused her to look at him and tilt her head a little in worry. So he was American? No wonder he sounded so different. Blinking slightly after hearing about how much rain Seattle got, she had a surprised look on her face. “That's a lot of rain, lad. A lot.” she said. Rosslynn's lips formed a soft smile as he was talking about his younger sister getting into Julliard and how she wanted to be on Broadway. “Ah, that's good then. I have siblings myself. Duncan and Damon, they are both older than me and twins. Then my two younger siblings are Avis and Archer. They are also twins.” she told him, thinking about her siblings.
He asked if she missed Scotland. Their eyes met at the worst time, since all her eyes shown were sadness at that moment. “A-Aye....s-sometimes....only me mum and me brothers....but....that's all...” her voice was quiet as she spoke, looking away from Connor and to the floor. It was true, the only thing she missed about Scotland was her mother and her four brothers. But that couldn't be helped. She pretty much ran away from there. She heard him speak about how he loved the rain and it made her look up, blinking. “That's odd....it was sunny moments ago. Mother Nature has interesting ways about herself...”

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- -- He was amazed that Ross and him had so much in common. And that they were both so predictable. Your certainly are special, he said silently in his head. He bit his lip, a unfamiliar fluttering in his stomach. Nodding, Connor smirked, "The foreigners almost always get drowned." As he listened to Ross talk about her family, he smiled, loving the sound of her Scottish accent. "Wow, you have a large family. That's something I've always loved," he smiled. "Do your brothers get along? The pair of twins that I know never got along." He grinned, thinking about the two twins that he knew from Seattle. They would never get along, and they were hilarious.
Connor frowned, seeing Ross's pain in her eyes. It pained him to see her gentle chestnut eyes sad. "I'm sorry, if I hit a nerve or something." He moved closer to Ross, carefully resting his hand on her shoulder, to hopefully give her comfort. "I know that I just met you, but I was wondering... Do you uh, want to go out to dinner tonight?" He grinned, his bright blue eyes resting on her chocolate eyes. Connor's stomach twisted into knots, and he felt sick, but he tried not to show it and simply gave Ross a hopeful smile that he tried not to show his nerves.

Rosslynn chuckled a little as he commented on how the foreigners almost always get drowned. “Oh yes. They are not used to all that rain.” she said, smiling a little. She smiled as her eyes gazed upon his face. His smile was beautiful and sweet. It made her stomach flutter and flip. It also made her heart beat faster. Oh, how she hoped he didn't hear it. “Having a big family is fun. It makes you happy that you are not the only one. Also, having younger siblings helps you gain responsibility.” she told him, her opinion true on the matter. Giving a small laugh, she nodded her head a little. “The older two get along fine, even if they are complete opposites. It's the younger pair that I often worry about. One of them is shy while the other one not so much. Avis wants to be a musician like me, while Archer is the shy actor of the family. Duncan and Damon, I think I are looking for a place to run their own business...”
Ross watched as Connor frowned. It was obvious he saw the sadness in her eyes. She smiled softly and looked away at first, but when he placed his hand on her shoulder it caused a reaction in her she had never felt before. It was as if she had fallen over a bridge and was swimming in a huge pit of warmth. She looked into his eyes, blushing a little at his offer. Rosslynn's cheeks were a deep red hue now, her eyes sparkling slightly. Slowly, her head nodded and she smiled. “I...I would...love too.” she said, feeling her heart and stomach flutter again in harmony.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --"Yes, they sort of remind me of cats, the way they complain." He grinned, remembering his Aunt Susan visiting the family. Boy, did she drown, wanting to go back to Arizona. But she was tough, and survived the full two weeks. Connor grinned, and smiled. "I can definitely relate to the getting more responsibility when you have a younger sibling. Lily was such a rebel sometimes." He smiled, remembering the time she ran away, for twenty minutes. She went home once she realized that she was hungry. "Whoa, your family sounds very talented." Connor smiled, thinking about how great it would be to have a large family.
Connor's gut nearly jumped when he heard that she would love to go to dinner with him. Thank God, he thought, grinning like a madman. "So, dinner at six?" He asked, wondering what kind of food Ross would like. Mentally, Connor made a list of things to do in his head. Starting with calling the restaurant to make reservations. The butterflies in his stomach started to fly once again at the thought of meeting Ross out for dinner. Not thinking clearly, Connor blurted out, "You have beautiful eyes, Ross." Heat instantly rose to his cheeks as he frantically looked away, embarrassed that he would say something so direct, but true at the same time. "Sorry, I don't know what has came over me. But be too excited for tonight," he grinned, looking back at Ross, with a faint blush on his pale cheeks.

Ross laughed lightly at his comment on how they remind him of cats. She couldn't say that was the same for herself. Since she loved water and swimming. She looked at him while his lips formed into a grin and it made her smile more. “I feel sorry for my two older brothers, since there are three of us younger ones to look out for.” she said. She felt comfortable, which was nice. Chuckling slightly, she nodded a little. “Me mom can sing and play instruments. Damon is a writer, he mostly writes poetry. Duncan...he either paints or takes photographs. I'm a musician. Avis is a musician. And Archer is an Actor. Me Da, well.....Mom told me he used to act and sing and dance. But then he stopped doing that once he met her. It is like one of those..fairytale love stories really.” she said. Ross smiled a little, remembering the stories her mother used to tell her about when her parents met. Damon said he would make it into a story, just for her. But she left before he ever finished it.
The brunette looked over to her companion as he mentioned the time of which to meet. “That sounds good...Wonder ful.” she said, giving a happy smile. Soon, however, her cheeks became a rosy red color again as he complimented on her eyes. She bit her lip for the third or fourth time that afternoon and gave a shy smile. Rosslynn never knew how much she would really love hearing someone compliment her. “T-T-Thank you...A-A-And...your eyes are just as beautiful...it's.....like they sparkle like a star or a sapphire....” she said, her eyes soft and gently as she tried to capture his again. Shaking her head a little, she slowly placed her hand on his in a comforting manner. “No need to apologize....and I am...really...excited for tonight.” she spoke, her voice soft and like velvet. Which was rare for her to even speak like that.
She slowly started to pull her hand away, but regretting that she was.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --Connor grinned, "I feel bad for them too, and I don't even know them." He paused, running his angular fingers on on the worn-out spine of Oliver Twist. Surprised, he raised one of his eyesbrows. "So it's in your blood to be special," He leaned in, a small smile playing along his pale lips. "We could have a fairytale too, Ross." Connor felt butterflies flying in his stomach, and then a faint pink color feel upon his defined cheekbones. He thought about his own parents, and how they were high-school sweethearts that were married right out of high school. They must have had a fairytale love story as well.
He chuckled, and smiled. "What are you feeling up for tonight? Italian? Seafood? Chinese?" Connor asked, his bright eyes fluttering to a person who just came in the door, then returned back to Ross's comforting chestnut eyes. Warmth returned to Connor's cheeks and he looked away, focusing on his feet. He bit his bottom lip and smiled. "T-Thank you." He looks back up at Ross, resting his gaze upon her glowing smile. When she put her hands in his, he blushed again and slowly intertwined his fingers in her's, savoring her warmth in his hands. "Ross, you have no idea how excited I am, no idea." Connor smiled, his gaze falling onto his hands, slowly rubbing slow circles on Ross's palms. When she started to pull her hands away from his, Connor shook his head, and whispered playfully, "Oh, don't you dare."

She giggled softly, loving they way Connor wooed her so easily. She felt like Juliet, finally finding her Romeo. But, she definitely hoped it wouldn't end badly for them. 'No...No it won't end badly. I think...he is the one.' she thought. He spoke to her and she looked at him, seeing his cheeks were also a pink color. Just like her. “That blush suits you.” she said with a smile. Her eyes gazed upon him and her stomach had butterflies. How wonderful would it be to have a fairytale love story. And all she could think about was having it with him. Her Knight in shining armor. She looked over, watching people leave and come into the cafe. But, she knew it was just them sitting there in the moment. As if...no one else mattered.
Rosslynn looked at him and have a sweet smile. “I'm not picky...as long as it's not snails or asparagus, I am good.” she said. Her mind started to think a little at what places would be romantic to eat at for two. She giggled happily as he intertwined his fingers with hers and she blushed. It was a really sweet gesture. And she enjoyed the feel of his warm hands in hers. Listening to him speak, she smiled shyly. Shivering slightly as Ross felt his fingers make slow circles on her palms, she felt as if she was in heaven and he was her angel. When she went to pull away, he gave a playful whisper, which made her smile and stop moving her hand. Slowly, Ross leaned against Connor and gave a happy sigh. “So this is how Juliet felt.....” she muttered softly.

it's just another day in paradise --------------------------------------------------------- --Ross managed to make Connor blush even more, to a darker, almost red hue. He grinned, looking away for a second to calm the blush on his cheeks. "I'm pretty sure your blush is cuter," he whispered, his gaze resting on Ross's high cheekbones. The light flush really did match her skin complexion perfectly. "I'll pass on the snails. But maybe have some asparagus." Connor was always an odd child, and he always loved steamed asparagus, even at the age of ten. His father called him, "a freak." But he honestly didn't care, he loved the taste of the green vegetable.
His mind scrolled through the romantic types of restaurants that he could take her to. He debated silently in his head, between a dim Italian meal, or a seafood. No, no. Definitely Italian, he got sick one time when he went out to seafood with his parents one time. He didn't even want to look at one piece of lobster ever again. Grinning, he started to slowly rub the delicate vein on her pale skin. His mother did that for him sometimes, and he always loved it. It was so calming, that one time he fell asleep while she was doing it one time. That is the one fool-proof thing to get him to calm down. When Ross leaned against him, he smiled, and relaxed his body, but still keeping a solid anchor for Ross to lean on. His smile widened at Ross's comment, but he simple just chuckled. "You know, I think we ought to get ready for our date. If you are lucky, I might even shave." He teased, feeling the tiny blood hairs that were prickling against his chin.
