Growing up, Makayla was a confident young girl, she was pretty, she was smart, even if she didn’t act it or show it and she was rather wealthy. A real daddy’s girl and total O.C teen girl. She had the best of all the worlds, however as she got older, she ended up meeting a charming young boy, and he shook her confidence levels. She began getting flustered whenever she saw him, shyly watching from afar, watching the cute boy from next door. Eventually they began to hang out, and then for a while she was a girl deeply in love, and then things changed.
After everything changed and she got sick and her daughter was born, she changed, her family kicking her out and her struggle to become a working adult. In short she changed, from a spoiled young princess, to a responsible young woman. She’s able bodied, smart, and hard working. But some things haven’t changed; she’s still a stubborn fiery young woman, just as intelligent, and sassy, with a touch of sarcastic attitude. She’s a loving mother and loyal as hell, in fact since Dimitri was never in another relationship. While she plays the hardcore woman, capable and able to take care of herself, inside she’s very lonely, and often has moments where she thinks of him. But she pushes through those moments, and those moments of depression that come with being sick.

Cécile was a young French woman, one who was very free-spirited; she spent her youth traveling using her father’s money to do whatever she liked. Her mother, Esme, disapproved of her daughter’s antics. She considered her irresponsible, and eventually, when her husband, Cécile’s father died, she cut her daughter off. So her daughter went to the states, husband hunting more than anything else. And in time she met her perfect match, a young man, Laurence Michael Reed, looking for a trophy wife. In time they moved to Orange County, California, and so began a life of leisure, lies and money. They ended up having one child, a little girl who they named Makayla, after Laurence’s mother, a snobbish wealthy woman. Makayla grew up privileged, and smart, but spoiled rotten. She attended school and kept up with her mother expectations, keeping her grades high, taking advanced courses, learning foreign languages, and doing work with the school to make her and her family look good. She was the perfect trophy daughter, then before her first year of high school, she met Dimitri for the first time.
She saw him, was introduced, and for the first time in her life, a charming smile and attractive features left her breathless, and suddenly she was even more concerned with how she looked. Makayla had always made sure to look impeccable for her family’s sake, but now she wanted to look pretty for the cute boy’s sake, and began dressing cute, and doing her best to look good. Three years later, after she’d graduated top of her class, the adorable boy from next door finally spoke with her and she with him, and just like that, he swept her off her feet. Summer’s became her favorite times, she studied hard during the school year, taking double the workload at her mother’s insistence, majoring in languages and translations. But when Summer came she could become a normal young girl in love, and she was so in love. The year she turned twenty, on her birthday she went and got a tattoo done from a friend’s brother, unbeknownst to her the needles he’d used weren’t the proper sort, in fact they were contaminated. And later she would find out she’d contracted Hepatitis C. That was the year Dimitri’s grandmother fell ill, and he spent a great deal of time caring for the elderly woman, and eventually she passed away. After that, they knew the chance of them seeing each other would be rare, so he asked her to come with him. And without hesitation Makayla said yes.
Then she went for her annual physical and to her horror discovered the reason she’d been feeling less than superb was because she’d contracted Hepatitis C. Makayla struggled with it, before finally deciding not to tell him a thing. She didn’t want him to ruin his future by staying with her. She changed her mind, she refused to go with him, they argued constantly and when he finally left, she broke down and cried. She was hysterical, and then the doctor contacted her, to let her know she was pregnant. After struggling with her decision, she held off on doing the treatments to her parent’s horror. And her refusal to get rid of the child and chance getting even sicker led them to disown her. And with that most of her O.C. friends turned their backs on her.
Eventually her Grandmother got in contact with her, she had no idea how the woman knew, but she thanked the woman immensely, she offered to support Makayla and the child when she was born as long as Makayla finished school and found a job. So Makayla continued with her degree, she had her baby girl on a rainy March 3rd morning and fell deeply in love with the little angel. She worked hard, took treatments and worked through the depression that came with the illness, struggled through the fatigue, the pain, the fevers, the weight loss and loss of appetite. She was relieved that her daughter hadn’t contracted it, and once she was finished with her degree, her Grandmother offered her assistance, the chance to leave the states, to live with her, to get a good job and be close to family who actually gave a damn. She accepted for the most part, she moved to Paris, took a job as a translator at the American Embassy through her Grandmother’s connections, and when she’s not working, Lily stays with Esme, otherwise her mother spends all her free time with the beautiful three year old. Though… lately Makayla’s been thinking of tracking Dimitri down… after all, she still loves him with all her being.
