HISTORY, Leola was born on the 11th November, the first day of winter, her favourite time of the year, when everything changes, the leaves fall, the temperature drops and the snow creates a lush white carpet, transforming the land completely.
Leo’s mother, Maria, was an unsuccessful actress who had only ever gained small commercial parts. A couple of years before Leo were born, Maria stopped going to auditions and left her agency, turning to a life of prostitution. It was whilst ‘working’ that she met Leo’s father, a married, business man who would never know of his daughter’s existence. In fact, the only thing Maria can remember of this man was the small-talk he made on the way to the motel; he had claimed that, as a Leo, he was an extremely passionate lover. Leola’s name was in reference to this, a hope that maybe one day he might return to look after her. Of course, this never happened.
Leola grew up in a small apartment with her sister Tora, who was four years younger than her, and would also never meet her father. Her mother would sleep during the day and go to work at night, they rarely saw her and Leo was left to cook, clean and tend to her younger sister.
Leo has wanted to be an actress for as long as she can remember, ever since she starred as Mary in her kindergarten’s Nativity performance. None of her friends ever knew about her appalling home life, she saw life as a stage and herself as a character, a character that she could change whenever she wanted. If, one day, she woke up and decided to be English, living with her grandmother, heir to an incredible fortune, that’s exactly who she’d be; due to this constant change in personality, she rarely kept a close friend, something she didn’t have a problem with. As she grew up, she stopped changing so much, choosing one particular character and sticking to it (well, for as long as people would stay interested anyway).
At the age of 12, Leo found out about La Lumineuse in a Drama lesson at school. She took on two part time jobs, saving up every penny she ever earned. Leo was going to Paris and she was going to become a successful actress and there was nothing anyone could to stand in her way.
