SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEUh-oh, no one told Oren skating would be so hard! He knew the basics, since he roller bladed like a fiend but ice skating… that was different. Everything was so… slippery!
It was a fine weekend afternoon. Normally Oren would be cooped up in his apartment, watching tv or playing with clay but a recent downward spiral of emotions made him realize that he couldn’t stay indoors moping all the time. That was just not healthy. He also sort of noticed he had been clinging to people a bit too much lately. Mainly Anouk and Rhea. He loved them both to bits, but Rhea had her job and Anouk had her Alex and while he normally wouldn’t mind getting the way of either, he was all for trying this new ‘being independent’ thing. I’d probably last about a couple days or so, but at least he was trying.
So the options for the day were quite ample. He could go pamper himself with a meal at some fancy restaurant… but ya know, he was kinda poor. He could also go to Disney! But ya know… that was kinda something you’d do with friends. He also thought about going to the movies but they were only showing some pas romances and he didn’t want to see any of that crap. Museums and such also crossed his mind but were quickly dismissed as he remembered that museums were quiet and depressing, plus he had visited them all while he was here studying a few years ago. It was too early to go clubbing… there was also the possibility of visiting Maxton at his working place but… ugh… the horses… it was just too much to handle…. Oren was about to give up when the TV again gave him the perfect option. There was an ice skating rink opening up for winter, and there was a special promotion for students. Well he wasn’t a student but he could very well pass by as one with his teacher credential from the academy. Smiling, Oren readied himself with some warming clothes and off he went.
It seemed like such a good idea just an hour ago! The ice skates look shiny and new and the rink wasn’t too packed since it’s was lunch time and people were probably busy stuffing their faces. There were a few people but Oren didn’t really bother to see if there was anyone he’d recognize. The moment he made the first step towards the ice… he knew he made a mistake. His feet simply wouldn’t respond to what his brain wanted them to do. He kept slipping forward and backwards and so far he had been able to let go of the railing for a grand total of thirteen seconds. Right now he was trying a new technique: catch some impulse and slide!! Oren held onto the railing one last time before pushing himself off to the middle of the rink. He wasn’t going too fast but at least it was faster than he had gone until now. It was nice to slide and not fall for once until Oren remembered that he didn’t know how to stop. ”Fais gaffe!!” he called aloud but it was too late, he was already crashing against whoever stood in his way. From his new position, lying on the cold ice, Oren rubbed his bruised knee and squirmed a little. “Je suis désolé…”
Oren apologized since it had been his fault really… [/blockquote][/blockquote] TAGGED ! for who? WORDS ! how many? OUTFIT ! CLICK LYRICS ! sometimes by skillet TEMPLATE ! PANIC! ITS LAUZ @ CAUTION NOTES ! blah blah

my moon, my man ************************ It was a quiet day. the morning had been simple, stretches and vitamins and a long jog around the block. And then she went back to the doctor. 4 years to live... a healthy young woman, with no time left. She intended to fight and fight hard. Screw the system for not picking up on it earlier, it didn't matter how hard pancreatic cancer was to find, shouldn't this happen to sick people... Bailey paused on the street, stunned that she was now a sick person. She fingered her long hair... would she lose that too? She shook head head and headed home after her check up.
She changed into her pajamas and sat in front of the tv, dying for comfort food and knowing junk food had to be worse for her now. But she couldn't take it, it didn't feel any better. She didn't feel much like dancing either.
Bailey realized that the ice rink was open and all of a sudden, flew up from her couch to change. She ice skated as a child, along with all her dance lessons. She loved to ice skate, it was like flying--dancing came close to that feeling, but nothing beat skating. She still kept up with it as a hobby. She could have gone pro, maybe olympic if she had dropped dance, but she had to do both--she loved both.
Using her student pass, she got her discount and went in, her own worn but full of character skates laced up and ready. And then she slid onto the ice, like a boat slipping into water, natural and easy. She twirled around and smiled. Simple pleasures... did she have much left? Bailey had been feeling down since her diagnosis, and she still hadn't told anyone.... how could she tell them?
She was lost in thought when she heard a familiar voice behind her, apologizing to someone and turned around. Oren. She grinned. He was such a good friend to her. they had dated a few years back, before he was a teacher. She'd been too young and him too driven then, so they called it off, sometimes Bay wondered if they'd ever start again. Not in a hopeful way really, just wondering. they did have good times.
Bailey skated over gracefully. "Hello silly," She said in English. Obviously after all this time here her French wasn't so bad, but she was from Florida. Though, she didn't miss America much, certainly not the heat. Paris was a wonderful city, especially in the winter.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEAaaah the pain… Oren almost forgot how bad it hurt when there was ice involved. Not that ice-cube wars could compare with the pain on his ass but it was still pretty painful. Squirming a little he groaned and rolled over, pretty much like a puppy. ”Je suis désolé…” He repeated the apology to the guy he had pretty much knocked over. The guy didn’t seem to mind it, he muttered something like ‘it’s ok’ and smiled at Oren before brushing off the ice shards on his jeans and helping himself up. Oren smiled back, but remained on the ice. It was safer that way. He even denied the helping hand of the guy when he finally got on his skates and waved at him as he skated off. Yeah, a horizontal position seemed to be the best option at the moment.
A familiar voice speaking in English caught his attention. Twisting his neck back he looked at the source and let a smile appear on his face as he looked at Bailey upside down. “Hello there beautiful!” He said, with a thick accent that made very ‘r’ sound like a ‘g’. Rolling over yet again he ended up pretty much covered in icy shards which would probably melt and leave him all wet. ”Comment allez-vous?” he asked, tilting his head sweetly and getting ready to attempt the dangerous ‘getting up’ task. “How come you’re such a good skater?” He chuckled while balancing his body on both knees and gathering some courage to get back up. “We never went ice skating when we dated, how come? That would’ve earned me some bruises right now.” With an impulse of hope and some good luck Oren pulled his body up, back on two feet but still quite unstable. With his renewed vertical~ness though, Oren could pay 98% of his attention to Bailey and keep the remaining 2% on keeping himself alive. Spreading his arms to keep his balance he focused his sight on Bailey and yet another smile spread on his face. “I know this sounds very lame when coming from a guy, but I was just about to call you. Or at least I’ve been meaning to since I came back to Paris.” It really did sound lame as an excuse, but Oren wasn’t using it as one. He and Bailey ended up in good terms and he really had been a bit too busy to rekindle old friendships and get in contact with old friends. “I believe this must be destiny.” He winked at her in a flirty way, like he usually did with pretty much anything that moved. Oren was like that though, very flirty but in the end he made it clear that there was nothing behind his flirty unless… well there it was, which was what happened with Bailey when they dated.
A rather skilled skater rushed past the couple, again stealing that precious sense of balance from Oren. He wobbled for a moment before slipping forward again, this time sliding slowly but equally ridiculously until he landed on his knees and palms. “C’est des conneries…” He laughed at his own misery before looking up at Bailey and extending his hands and arms towards her. “How about you help me up and tell me what your beautiful face has been up to while we were apart?” His grin indicated he was having a bit too much fun being a little fail, or at least more than he was supposed to have. Oh well, at least now he wouldn’t be a fail alone, Bailey was there to lok pretty and graceful while he well… failed.

my moon, my man ************************ Bailey chuckled. He was never squimish about bringing up their past. She supposed that was good, the past had happened. Sometimes she wondered if they purely broke up because it was the wrong time, or maybe it was because he a flirt... Bay wasn't sure. "I skated as a child, indoor rink though.Skating outside is much more fun." She explained, laughing slightly as his uneasiness. "If we'd gone skating as a couple you might have broken something." She said shaking her head. he wasn't very coordinated--especially on ice.
Bailey laughed again, "Destiny huh?" She teased softly. But she was happy to hear he'd been thinking about her and wanted to call--even if he hadn't gotten to it. "I'm glad your back. I've seen you in the halls once or twice actually but I didn't get a chance to find you, not sure where your office is, Professor." She said with a wink. But she wasn't his student, she was his friend, his ex-girlfriend.
Bailey helped him up, managing not to lose her own balance while helping him up. "Well, I've been dancing up a storm, staying out of trouble. Dated a few boys." She shrugged with a laugh. "Not much to report really, what about you? Still as handsome as ever."

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME“Skating is skating, and doing it as a child gives you quite an unfair advantage.” Oren pouted playfully as Bai helped his sorry ass back up. There were a few lakes and slippery surfaces in which he could’ve practiced skating while being a child but you know… being a guy, snow wars were always a lot more appealing than sliding in the ice like a graceful ballerina. There he was, up again, this time he seemed to be a lot more firmly planted on his skates than he had been before, probably because he felt a lot more confident now that someone who actually knew how to skate was standing next to him.
The professor comment made Oren laugh a little. He was indeed a professor, but it made him feel old and slightly awkward when people called him that. “Well if you’re so interested in knowing, I share an office with other assistant professors in the third floor where the art studio is.” He winked at her. “And I would have to ask you not to call me professor if you didn’t sound so sexy while saying it.” His humor seemed to pick up now that the possibilities of having fun on the ice where back. Extending his hand for her to take he attempted yet another try at this ‘skating thing’. Those five year olds who slid like penguins made it look so easy…
“And you’re as beautiful as ever, but I already told you that.” Oren said as he tried to move his legs so that he would slide instead of nail his skates on the ice and trip. “As for me, you know, tout est bien as always. My brother moved to America though, and I’m here all alone and sad haha! But it's ok, I've been dating people as well.” Oren laughed, but it wasn’t as much of a joke as he wanted it to be. He missed his twin and even though he usually hid it behind laughs most of the time he felt down and a little sulky. “How is your sister though? And the rest of your troupe?” Oren always liked most of Bailey’s family. Big families lured him like that and not every day he and his brother met a pair of twins like themselves. Now Oren had to wonder just why in the world he stopped dating Bailey… she was nice, fun, pretty… and oh right, he finished school and went back to his hometown that’s when they decided to split. Well he was back now… but he was also in a teaching position and that was just a tad bit against school’s policy. Damn those policies! Plus… Oren had his eyes on someone else right now and even if he may seem like one, he wasn’t a player.

my moon, my man ************************ Bailey laughed and shook her head. Did she say professor in a sexy way? She'd never heard that before. Not like she made any kind of effort to get romantically involved with her professors. "Alright, professor." She said, mustering up as much sultry-ness in her voice as she could on cue. Truth was, it was rather easy, given that it was Oren. She did date him once. But they had just been to young, calling him professor did seem jarring, and while he found it attractive, she couldn't keep it up.
"Obviously those dates didn't go very well if you're still talking about how I look like that," She said with a little laugh as he got up and steadied on his feet. He'd said how good she looked like three times, which was flattering and all, but strange. She thought he was long over her... Suppose he was just being nice.
"Oh, you must miss him," She said right away, placing a hand on his shoulder delicately. It had to be hard for him. She knew what it was like to have a twin, and they had never been separated by much distance at all. they were very different, but obviously close. Bailey smiled. "Oh she's fine, and the rest of them are good." She giggled silently at the use of the word 'troupe" which made her think of a dance troupe, or a family circus troupe....
ooc- i like them together =)

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME“I would call you beautiful even if I was a married fat man with fifty years on my back.” He grinned playfully, always adding a sweet little French tone to his voice. It was true though, Oren admired beauty like any other guy did and Bai just happened to be beautiful outside and inside. “My dates have been… interesting to say the least.” He chuckled, not managing to keep eye contact with Bai; not because he didn’t want to, but because he felt he’d fall and break his skull if he let his eyes wander off his skates and the ice. “Haven’t found someone that spikes my interest though… just this one person…” He trailed off, once again struggling to remain his balance. He was talking about the guy he met the other day at the horse riding park thingy. It wasn’t a secret that Oren was bisexual but somehow he didn’t feel like talking about that with Bai.
The topic change was welcome, but it seemed to turn Oren’s smile into a slightly forced one. “Oh oui I do miss him. But he’s happier in New York, with all the top artists and working in a fancy art gallery. I would never be able to ask him to come back just because I miss him, as much as I want to.” Oren chuckled and placed his hand on top of Bai’s. Normal people didn’t like it when others felt sorry for them, but Oren wasn’t like that. He wanted to let people know how sad he was, and how lonely he felt but so far he could only blat out say it in front of Rhea.
“I’m glad your family is ok, haven’t seen your sister though? Where is she hiding?” Oren was pretty sure she hadn’t finished school yet seeing she was in the same year as Bai but he also was pretty unobservant when it came down to people he spotted at school. Oren’s mouth opened again to probably ask something else when another tricky step sent him flying back to the floor. “I swear… I’m not made for this…” He laughed from his renewed horizontal position as he laid flat on the ice, pondering over the decision of just spend the rest of his ice skating experience there, collapsed.
