Things finally seemed to be going back to normal; slowly, but surely, Artemis’ world was righting itself. It started with the little things. He had finally managed to get his internet and phone back. It was a horrible couple of weeks without it, and he was caught up with all his payments now, too. Artemis hated owing money more than he hated borrowing money. Excuses were like armpits: everyone has two of them and they all stink. Wasn’t that how the saying went? Yeah, his landlord didn’t exactly enjoy his excuses and neither did Artemis. The blonde didn’t seem it but he was horribly responsible when it came to anything outside of school. Or partying, for that matter (responsibility tends to take a flying leap out of a window when it comes to partying). Though, for everything else, Artemis was one of the most responsible people there could be. Granted, it all came from a powerful to not end up like his mother.
Oops. Too late for that, isn’t it? Well, perhaps not. Once one good thing happened, another soon followed. Gradually, Artemis was starting to climb out of the little whole he had managed to fall into. Shortly after he had gotten his internet back and paid off all the debts he could, Luke appeared out of no-fucking-where. God, Luke! If anything could have made the unreligious artist feel as if a god was smiling down on him, seeing Luke was it. Everything fell to shit after he left and now everything is getting better. It was as if Luke was the gravity of his world. Without him, everything fell away. But now he was back and his world was piecing itself back together. Even Artemis’ social life was reviving itself. He had already spoken with Anouk. Now he was supposed to meet with another favorite in his life.
Deimos.
What would Artemis do without the other artist? He didn’t know, really. Deimos and Luke were a big part of his life. Artemis didn’t realize it until after they had disappeared. Well, Luke disappeared and Artemis just poofed. But it was all the same difference. Faces were no longer seen and people were missed. Now he had Deimos again and he couldn’t wait to see his smiling face. Artemis’ own pink lips turned up at the corners when he thought about it. About Deimos. He couldn’t not smile. The two had a lot in common: they were both Greek (at least Artemis was from Greece) and spoke the language, they were both artists, they were both in their second year at La Lumineuse, and they both enjoyed partying. In fact, it was that very thing that lead Artemis to meeting Deimos. And what was the best part? Deimos didn’t care when he had confused the blonde for a girl; Deimos didn’t care Arty here was a boy. It led to a rather good and close friendship and a meeting at the Latin Quarter in Paris. It had been a while since Artemis and Deimos had gotten together for a little night out. They were in need of some serious time together. So much has happened since the last time Artemis had seen the other and now he was a little anxious. What if Artemis had changed and he didn’t know it? What if Deimos had changed? What if they weren’t the same as before? Artemis felt nervous; he felt like he did the first time he had a date.
Patience was not one of his strong virtues, but he had to wait. The feminine male did just that as he stood near the fountain and glances around at the passing people, searching for a familiar face.

Things had gone from horribly chaotic to fucking horribly chaotic in less than what Deimos had expected. For starters he wasn’t doing all too good with school work. It wasn’t that he wasn’t trying; it was that he kept getting distracted with stuff and missed deadlines. When he didn’t miss those he ended up procrastinating until he ended up turning in something that was way below his capabilities. Secondly… Sam left. Yeah that was pretty related to the first problem as Sam had been the object of his distractions. He simply disappeared like that without saying much to anyone, and it wasn’t the first time either…. At some point Deimos had resolved to get over it and go on with his life but it was way easier said than done. The proof came when his mother called from Greece pretty much demanding he got over whatever it was that made him fail a class or else.
Or else, he was being threatened by his own mother. Well Dem understood that she was worried for him but still, it was weird. Leave it to his own mother to notice there was something wrong with him though. So far he appeared to be same old Dem to everyone around him. He kept flirting and sleeping around and since Sam left he had added a grand total of three ex-girlfriends to his list. No one asked what was wrong with him because no one seemed to notice, or care enough. He made sure of it; Deimos wasn’t the type to be fond of people feeling sorry for him, he did that on his own well enough.
Speaking of pity parties, Deimos decided to ditch his own for the day. He was meeting Artemis in the latin quarter and he didn’t want to ruin their reunion with sad conversation. Putting some decent clothes on and his usual smile the artist walked out of his apartment, ditching the car and opting for public transportation. He was surprised when Artemis had disappeared like that, and it was slightly creepy how you could lose contact with someone so easily even living in the same city. Deimos felt slightly guilty for not trying to approach him while he was missing. He did know where Artemis lived after all, but he was a bit busy trying to pick up pieces of his life to actually do it. Well Artemis was back and he was here so what better way to make up for it than inviting him out?
The place was as busy and joyful as the last time Deimos had been here. People walking in all directions confused him for a second but all he had to do was focus his eyes on blonde heads. Soon enough he recognized Artemis’ thin frame waiting next to the statue just like they had agreed. Approaching from behind he didn’t want to surprise Artemis in an unpleasant way so he placed a hand on his shoulder and circled him to face him. “Well hello there stranger, where have you been hiding al this time?” He said as greeting with a wide smile, showing how happy he was to see Artemis again.
His relationship with Artemis was one of the few things Deimos planned to keep from his stance in Paris. They had met in a slightly weird situation, Dem thinking he was a girl and Artemis not bothering to correct him. In the end Deimos didn’t care, Artemis was one of those people that were just worth keeping around and it didn’t matter they had slept together once or twice, they were both mature enough to realize that they were meant to be with someone else. Or well, that’s what Deimos wanted to think. “Hug?” He asked, tilting his head to the side and spreading his arms at Artemis in a slightly childish yet warm way. “You’ll have to tell me everything you’ve been doing while you went missing. I was sad when I couldn’t find you.” As cheesy and playful as Deimos’ words sounded they were also true. He had missed having someone to talk to, especially since Sam left…

The second year’s gaze bounced from one person to the next without much concentration. He saw so much but didn’t really see anything. The movement and bobbing of every head offered enough amusing distraction that, for a moment, Artemis had completely forgotten what he was looking for. His blue eyes unfocused and he became lost in his own thoughts even though he knew he should be more watchful. He was only waiting for Deimos, after all. But there was always that moment in the day where the perfect amount of white noise drowned the forefront of the man’s mind and forced him to swim in a sea of absent thoughts. There was hardly a thing that could drag him out of the whirlpool of his mind. Except for maybe an unexpected hand. With a noise mixed somewhere between a quiet yelp and a surprised gasp, Artemis whirled around, eyes widened noticeably. His little heart jumped into this throat until he realized who it was. “ Holy fu--! Deimos! You meanie, you scared me!” A rise of anger crested in his voice before the mess cascaded into a wave of laughter and a playful slap to the man’s shoulder. “ That’s a good way to get your ass kicked, mister,” his voice had softened and a coy smile began to play across his soft lips. Now that his heart was starting to skip to the right beat, he could smile at his friend’s appearance. Artemis couldn’t believe that Deimos had snuck up on him like that; though, neither was he surprised. Artemis tucked a loose lock of blonde behind his ear, gaze raising to Deimos’ now that he was positive he wasn’t about to get raped. “ Hiding? Oh, I just happened to get lost in a bitch of a black cave,” and by cave, he meant his apartment after he had to give up things like the internet and his phone, “ Finally found my way out, though. It had been a while since I had saw the sun.” Artemis tilted his head and peeked at his pale skin beneath the collar of his shirt. “ Swear I could have played Casper’s stunt double for a while, but now everything is good.” That brilliant but flirtatious smile lit up his features before he continued, “ What about you? I was half hoping for a knight in tattooed armor to come save me.” Artemis always strived to appear as completely independent so an admission like that was rare, bordering on extinct. “ What have you been up to, Demmy?” And the moment Deimos opened his arms, Artemis couldn’t help but to throw himself into them. That smile stretched even further across his features and glittered in his eyes. He was unafraid to give the other a real hug, a full hug. Artemis had missed this. His friends. Human contact – at least the kind he actually wanted. He really needed this, Artemis realized. Everything that had landed on his plate made his stomach churn and he was glad he could finally get some relief from it all. If anyone could be that little bit of medicine the blonde needed, Deimos was sure to be it. Artemis pulled away from the other but his fingers sought for Demmy’s hand; he wasn’t ready to part yet. It had been so long since he last saw his friend. “ You want to know everything?” It was an innocent muse accompanied by a dramatic but thoughtful hum and a roll of eyes as if they were searching for answers in the Paris sky. “ I worked. I ah… Oh, I worked. Let’s see… I worked some more,” there was a gentle nod of his head before his gaze returned to the other, “ Sad to say that’s about it.” That smile disappeared and he pursed his lips. He didn’t exactly like to think about his work. Who would if they had managed to sink as low as Artemis? “ There really isn’t anything about me to talk about. Tell me about you as we walk,” it was a light purr of a demand that Artemis really wasn’t going to give much Deimos choice in. He had no idea what they were supposed to do with their day. Aimless walking seemed good for the moment so he tugged Demmy into the crowd, hand still curled around his. “ Surely something interesting happened to you?” tagged: the lovely deimos words: seven two five notes: ♥ creds: template is mine, lyrics belong to sleeping with sirens

Ah, Deimos had underestimated how good human contact felt. Not the human contact he had been having until now, you know… a random girl he picked at a bar and slept with didn’t count as human contact. They were a good fuck but that was everything. A couple of those girls Deimos didn’t even bothered to keep as one week girlfriends which was saying a lot from someone like he. Dem was the polite type, the kind type, the gentleman type who ended up giving girls a week of treats and pampering even if he didn’t plan to keep them around longer than that. In the end it was pretty mean what he did but it kept his conscience at bay. Hugging Artemis reminded him how good it felt to just cling to someone because it felt good and not because it was what everyone else was expecting you to do.
As soon as the hug was broken Deimos felt like being kicked back down to earth and stripped of all those nice feelings he had remembered upon wrapping his arms around the tiny male. Oh well, it’s not like he could cling to someone else for the rest of his life just to get a good feeling out of it. That’s what drugs were there for~ but he wasn’t about to try that either. Deimos may have had a lot of issues but he didn’t want to include new ones to the list. He was messed up as it was without funny acid playing in his brain.
“What have I been up to…” Deimos repeated the question with a slight smile as he glanced down at their now intertwined hands. Repeating the question wouldn’t make it any less uncomfortable really. Artemis probably knew what he had been up to. It wasn’t a secret what he did to girls on a regular basis and it was precisely what took him to meet the other in the first place. It wasn’t all he had been doing though and while he could go on and pretend everything was as it was before he wasn’t as adept at lying to friends as he was when lying to strangers. As Artemis pulled him for a walk Deimos found himself being pulled slightly, his mind traveling miles away to recall the past weeks as if it had been a lifetime instead of just a few days. “Hmmmm… well… you know, the usual.” Deimos said with a chuckle before shaking his head. It was the truth after all, just not all of it but it was still evident that ‘the usual’ wasn’t all there was to it. “Annnnd… oh well this is news. I got my heart broken, for a change!” He said and couldn’t help but laugh at the thought. It was usually he the one who did the breaking, never quite growing attached to the girls he dated or anyone else for that matter. “Sam left. I don’t know where and he probably won’t be back.” He said with a shrug taking away as much importance to the matter as he could. He really didn’t want to ruin his little date with Artemis by moping around or showing just how hurt he really was. “But it doesn’t matter—“ he added quickly “—I’ll get over it. Plus, there’s a lot more interesting stuff going on around than my love life, right? I heard Luke is back~” Deimos said in a slightly teasing tone of voice while nudging Artemis’ side. He didn’t know the guy, Luke, but he made Artemis happy which was a good thing. If he met this Luke guy well… Deimos had the feeling he probably wouldn’t like him at all. Not that he’d ever mention that to Artemis, you know, it was one of those things he’d rather keep to himself.

The last bit of news Artemis had heard from Deimos before the blonde took a trip down the rabbit hole of shitland was that Demmy had something with someone else. The name slipped Artemis mind, and honestly, Artemis had always held an irrational pang of hate for whomever held his friend’s heart. He was pretty positive he never met this other interest, which really just made such a feeling rather unfair and mean. Because Artemis totally cared what some random person on the planet thought about his feelings toward them. All it was, was an envious hate. It was Artemis’ little secret, his jealousy. He would never portray anything but the utmost confidence to the public. He was already clingy enough; he didn’t need to make it obsessive. He knew it was wrong to hate someone he never properly met but… He did. And that was that. There simply was no changing the fact. His jealousy wouldn’t allow it. Now, Artemis could be selfish. He could be a sniveling, little brat and a royal bitch to anyone he didn’t like. But he liked Deimos. He cared for Deimos. Artemis may have hated the person Deimos was with, but Artemis wasn’t cold hearted. As long as Deimos was happy, he could deal with it because it was what Demmy wanted. So, despite his feelings toward it all, when he found out that Deimos’ heart had been broken, his expression fell. The smaller art student turned his wide gaze up towards the other. “ What? Doesn’t matter?” he gasped and gaze the other’s hand a sympathetic squeeze. He wasn’t going to be distracted so easily! Even with the mention of Luke. “ That’s horrible. I’m sorry, Demmy.” First Luke left and now Sam? God, it seems that their relationships are just falling apart. Maybe they were cursed? Though… Luke came back. “ You know, I felt the same way,” he mused after a moment, gaze falling from the other and sweeping to the ground so he could watch their feet. “ Maybe Sam will come back after all?” It was a genuine piece of hope that Artemis offered him. After all, Artemis never expected to see Luke after he vanished into neverland. And then one night, he just appeared at his door. At the memory, a giddy grin graced his features and he raised his gaze to meet Deimos’ once again. “ Who knows! Maybe he’ll just appear outside your window one night and start serenading you with a radio held over his head like you see in those cheesey movies.” It was an amusing enough idea, wasn’t it? “ As you said, Luke came back. Why not Sam?” Artemis offered him a reassuring smile and another squeeze to his hand. Artemis would love to talk about Luke and how he brought a puppy all the way back here for them to share. Artemis could gush for hours on end solely on the topic of Luke and how much he cared for the broken farm boy and what he loved and why he loved it. But he wouldn’t. Not today. Today was for Deimos. If Deimos needed to vent, Deimos should be able to vent. Attempting one last time with the topic of Sam, Artemis’ voice softened and he gently pressed closer to the other’s side as some sign of comfort. “ You know you can tell me anything, right? It’s not really like I have a lot of people to tell,” his smile had all but vanished now, “ If you want to talk about Sam, you can. I know what you’re going through and it’s not very pretty. So if I can, I want to help.” tagged: the lovely deimos words: six-oh-eight notes: ♥ creds: template is mine, lyrics belong to sleeping with sirens

Deimos adored Artemis. Adore was even a very light way to express what he felt for the other male. Artemis was one of the few people he could be himself around, the others being Anouk (since she knew his secret) and Sam. With the other two gone, one for good and the other just momentarily absent, Dem felt like clinging to the only string of sanity that was there to remind him who he really was. Deimos spent so much time pretending he didn’t feel something he obviously felt and faking he was a person he really wasn’t that in the end reality began getting confused with the fake thing. But Artemis was there to just smile at him and with very few words remind him that he would rather spend a single night with someone like him than an entire lifetime with a girl he would probably grow to despise.
Artemis’ words were comforting, but Dem knew it was only a momentary comfort that would go away as soon as they parted ways later that day. Right now Deimos felt warm, even protected in a sort of childish way especially when Artemis squeezed his hand. He couldn’t stop chuckling though, as if his heartbreak was the most amusing thing in the world. It certainly wasn’t as amusing as it was painful but it was ironic, which was probably the origin of his laughter. All those girls he left crying and all those girls who begged him for a second chance, all of them would be laughing at his face right now if they knew about his situation. Oh life, you and your karma…
Lifting Artemis’ hand he pressed it lightly against his own cheek before placing a small kiss on the back of his hand while giving him that loving look that Deimos reserved for him and him only. “Thanks, it’s really something nice to imagine. Knowing Sam he’d probably try to do the fifty pound boombox thing outside my apartment… even though I live in the pent house.” Deimos let this one be the last of his chuckles before his features slowly fell to fit how he really was feeling: shoulders down, gaze posed on the flood and a shadow of sadness looming over his eyes. “But no. This is the second time he just poofs without warning and as much as I…” Deimos took a moment to choose between the words love and like. He thought he was in love with Sam before and much to his joy he thought Sam felt the same way but this proved otherwise. Pessimistic thoughts of him not being good enough to make the other wish to stay were dragging his mood down more than it already was. “… as much as I liked him I don’t think could risk it happening a third time.” He lifted his eyes again, a ghost of his usual cheery smiles being directed at Artemis. “I mean, Luke came back for you, but that’s only because even someone with half a brain would cross the world just to be with you.” At this he pulled his hand from Artemis’ grasp only to wrap an arm around his shoulders and placed a gentle kiss on his temple.
“I don’t want to bore you Arty~” Deimos said in a slightly amused tone as he walked down the street, directing the other to one of the many restaurants around the latin quarter. Obviously Deimos usually picked the fanciest one that would let them feel comfortable at the same time~ all the best for Artemis. “I’d rather hear about you and Luke you know. It might cheer me up to know that at least one of us isn’t doomed to die alone.” The gloom joke was also another reflection of his current mood. He was feeling really miserable to put it bluntly. Artemis served to cheer him up to a great extent but he couldn’t depend on the other when he had his own happiness to worry about. “Tell you something, I’ll talk about Sam if you tell me something good about Luke. I have to make sure someone is taking good care of you since you managed to escape my grasp.” He smiled, but still very softly and almost without much spirit. The natural dislike Deimos felt for this Luke guy was perfectly hidden by the desire of his friend to be happy. Deimos was still waiting for the tiniest slip from the other to just go all protective on Artemis and maybe attack him like a wild dog but no… that would probably only be a way for him to vent out in the wrong way and he didn’t want Artemis to hate him for disliking his boyfriend.
