---------------- PERSONALITY ---------------
LIKES, any sorts of animals, rain, keeping to himself, writing, being in control, any sort of outdoor activities (mainly by himself of course), exploring, cows, heat, hot showers, home, his mother
DISLIKES, being spoken of, too many crowds/people, having to take care of people, loud noises, people being idiots.
FEARS, being stranded without help, having to be all by himself, his brother dying in his care and ending up like him.
PERSONALITY,
SERIOUS| This boy doesn't laugh at all, and if he does then there must have been something that a person had done so extremely funny that he couldn't help but to crack a smile. Smiling, laughing...just no. These things are not in Koby's life at all, not in his emotions, he just doesn't have the mental capacity (or so he thinks) to ever want to be a happy boy. He keeps a straight face on all the time, so don't even think you'll be able to push his lips upwards into a smile, or even a smirk. Koby plays to his own tunes, he doesn't like people trying to pry their way into him.
DETERMINED| Deterministic is a word in the dictionary which you'll find Koby's picture next to. This boy will pull all stops just to make sure that she gets what he wants. with his looks, it pretty much seems like he never has to put up a finger to do what he wants, and that's pretty much true. He works hard for everything though, even if it does seem like he doesn't do much, whether it would be for academic purposes or social purposes, he just wants things to go the way that she wants them to go.
CARING| Even though it probably doesn't seem like it at all, after all Koby has a straight face, he's serious, he's not a joker or anything like that, people would definitely assume that he's not the caring type. But he is, after all, if it wasn't him then who would be the one looking after his brother? His approach is tough love though, he doesn't want people to think that he's a soft person and so installs a little tough love. Giving tough love probably gets him the respect he deserves and for Koby, respect means quite a bit.
FATHER, leonardo mannix
MOTHER, alisa mannix
OTHER FAMILY, luke mannix (brother)
HISTORY, The first born in the family was always ushered over, weren't they? Too bad Koby Mannix wasn't the first-born. He was the second born child to two farmer parents. Now unlike his older brother, Koby adapted to the lifestyle that he was given. He wanted to be a farmer, he wanted to continue the line of work that his father was into, and too bad his father didn't pay much attention to him though. As a young child, Koby was much more of a mommy's boy. He spent more time with his mom than he did with his dad. He didn’t mind of course, he loved his mother, loved knowing how to cook and being taught to be a gentle person, it was just so much fun. But sometimes there was the hope and the desire that his father would notice him too at times. But alas, that never seemed to happen.
Growing up he didn't have many friends, thinking that he didn't need them because he was always teased. He wasn't anything like his cool, older brother who seemed to have everything handed to him easily. He was the nerd, the one that looked like he would cry over everything in a simple second and that was what forced him to slowly turn into the introvert that he is today. He was bullied about his weird curly hair, bullied about the fact that he had to wear glasses when he was younger and that he had braces. Yup, Koby Mannix was a right old nerd, nothing like his older brother at all. It was really only his mother who managed to change his opinion about the way he was. She seemed to be the only one in the family who actually seemed to care about her second son.
Although Koby had made up his mind about being a farmer, he soon started take an interest in writing. Whenever he found a scrap piece of paper somewhere or his parents bought him a new pad of writing paper, he would start different stories, his imagination running amok while his hand flew through the papers as if he were making art. It was the only creative outlet that Koby ever had. As he grew up some more, going into secondary school, going through puberty and aging, he began to change a little. His jealousy seemed to over come him quite a bit.
His older brother was in a band, going around places and earning a name for himself while Koby was still known as the ‘farmer’s son.’ But as a good child he didn’t say much and continued with his farm chores, learning to be with animals and liking them. It was as if they were the only comfort he had. He then slowly began to shut himself out, not speaking to anyone unless it was absolute necessary, not going out with anyone or socializing with anyone at all until it was compulsory of him to go. In fact, Koby began to think that disappearing from the face of the world would have been a good idea but suicide was never an option for him; he didn’t want to take a coward’s route out of this world.
Once his older brother came back home from his tour or whatever he was out doing in the world, Koby didn’t pay much attention to him, didn’t realize the problems that Luke had with his life, because why would Koby want to even care? But he did notice the little things, the way Luke would twitch slightly when he was angry, he memorized his brother’s facial expressions through every mood and call it intuition or whatever, but Koby knew there was something wrong with his brother; he just didn’t want to tell anyone or cared really. It wasn’t until his father went into hospital and was under a coma when Koby realized how far Luke could actually go. A few days later, he managed to stop Luke form killing himself, from taking the cowardly way out from what he had done. The image of seeing his brother almost passed out was horrible and it had scarred Koby even up to this date.
After that horrible day, the aura around the Mannix household was quite terrible, it was as if the family couldn’t believe the events that lead up to that day. A few days, or weeks, well Koby wasn’t really counting how many days had actually passed, his oh so very good brother decided he wanted to go to Paris and Koby was the one who had to go with him. Koby resented the idea; he didn’t want to go at all, what would he do in Paris out of all places? Find a job in a little corner shop and earn minimum wage? At least if he was a farmer, he would be able to grow his own crops, manage his own intake instead of having to heavily rely on money in Paris, not that he was going to have to rely on money all the time anyway. But Koby wasn’t all interested in the idea until he saw the writing department that La Luminese had. After seeing that department, he decided to go, not just because he had to take care of his brother but also because he wanted to so badly be in the writing department.
So they packed up their bags and headed for Paris, the city of love and lights and what not. Through the few moments they were there, Koby still wasn’t in any luck in the friends department, his brother seemed to be doing better under Koby’s control and that was what made him (slightly…well not really) happy. Things seemed to be going well for the both of them, Luke seemed pretty happy and Koby was doing well with his school work and managing to be a good brother for once. It was only when one day he came back from grocery shopping and saw his brother passed out on the floor once more that he realized how much his brother was going to.
A few blurred moments later they were back home, and a few blurred moments later again and they were back in Paris. Ever since they had come back, Koby had put his schoolwork on hold, and keeps an eye on Luke now. After all, what’s the point in studying when he had the job of a caretaker?
