It is because of this feeling of needing to be in control that she developed an eating disorder. As a little girl she felt that she was always compared to her older sister and that she was labeled as the 'useless' child. It is because of this that she still tries, without meaning to, to improve her grades as a way to compensate the fact that her older sister is, in her mind, perfect. HISTORY, She began her life like a normal person. Both her parents had been high school sweethearts that stuck together through college and got married soon after. The relationship never really survived. The relationship did not fail because of disagreements or lost love, but rather a death.
On October 15, 2000 her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She ended up losing her job because of her frequent visits to the hospital. In a desperate state her mother began a daycare. After a while she was diagnosed to being pretty much cancer-free. In the end it did not matter. After she collapsed in the bathroom she was bedridden in the hospital. Two months later she died, leaving behind two very sad daughters who both, in their mother's memory, changed their middle names to their mother's maiden name.
Her father knew he was incapable of raising two young daughters so he went to the online dating sites to find a person to spend the rest of his life with. He was successful in finding a perfect match.
Luckily Alanna's new mother was not an evil stepmother, but rather a strict stepmother. Their life soon fell into a normal pattern while Alanna began to fall into her problems.
She began to notice how perfect her sister appeared to be, with her perfect grades and how she participated in a large amount of sports. Alanna wanted to be like her, but she knew with a person with her weight would be incapable of doing so. She began to hide her developing disorder. Alanna also began to enter herself into many advanced courses and a variety of sports.
After being a first year she cracked. Her grades plummeted and she was becoming just a skeleton. During freshman summer, with her friend, she began to heal. As another way to heal and not see the faces that remind her of her of her past she transferred to here. While she is better she collapses back into the disorder every so often.
