Another assignment, how many more would Rae have to suffer through? It felt as if professors left those assignments on purpose just to torture her and make her feel a Little bit miserable. “Ugh, being paranoid again.” Rae told herself and rolled her eyes as she adjusted the old Nikon camera in her hands. Professors weren’t against her, the world wasn’t against her, she was just being crazy again. Besides, the fact that she sucked with portraits only meant she had a lot of chances to improve. She had already been told on several occasions that her portraits of animals were worthy of any ward and while she could live with that it wasn’t enough. Rae wanted to be good at everything, and she wanted to prove her parents they didn’t make a mistake when letting her come to Paris by herself.
So, assignment… she was supposed to take photos of people but the assignment wasn’t too specific when it came down to what type of people, or what they were supposed to be doing. Rae may be very bad when trying to catch people’s emotions in a camera but she was very good when catching movement. She just needed to strengthen her flaws with her good points and she’d get at least a passing grade. Rae thought of the perfect way to accomplish this which was why she was now lurking in the dance studio. It was a lot cleaner than the art studio and a lot more elegant than the photography studio but she guessed different arts had a different air. Now all she had to do was find someone who was willing to dance in front of her while she awkwardly took pictures.
This was why she wasn’t good with people, she was a big mcawkward burger with a side order of fries…
Walking down the hallway she entered one of the studios, it was bright and full of light but it was empty… except for a single person. Well asking someone while in solitude was a lot better than asking someone in front of a crowd, right? Walking awkwardly towards the guy she tried to put on her best smile and stood in front of him while pushing the unruly strands of red hair behind her back. “Umh, excuse me… my name is Rae… do you mind if I take some photos of you?” She asked, pointing at the camera to emphasize her point. It still felt awkward though… asking for photos… as if she were some stalker… 422, for alec, hope it's ok ^^

Alec walked into his favorite practice room in the dance studio with his mix CD in his hand. He walked over to the stereo and slipped it in. He had put his 10 favorite dancing songs on this CD according to pace, this would become a great tool for practicing. He had been excited to use this tool for the first time. Once the music started he practically ran to the middle of the room excited to dance. The first song was a warm-up, up beat song. He smiled as his feet moved around him fast, feeling like he was flying from the joy.
Once the second song began he noticed some movement at the door, seeing the pretty red head in front of him he stopped in his tracks listening to her words. "Uhm, I'm not great at modeling, but I am always happy to help," Alec said nervously his big, pink lips slightly pursed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Do you want me to start dancing now?" Alec said awkwardly walking toward the stereo to change the music back to the beginning of the song. "You said you're name is Rae? That's my middle name, my first is Alec, first name that is, my first name is Alec," he said fast and very nervously barely getting the words out, hoping she could not detect how weird he was feeling.

Well it didn’t come out as horribly as she thought it would! Her heart stopped racing against her chest when he agreed to model for her. Now she felt kinda stupid for being so afraid to ask someone, it was like going back to highschool for a moment but it was done now. Rae smiled brightly, excited now that she got a model for her assignment. “Don’t worry, you don’t have to actually model just… do what you always do. I liked how you were dancing so anything will work.” She shrugged sweetly, trying to encourage him since he apparently was as nervous as she was.
“Funny huh? Does that mean I have a guy’s name?” She tilted her head, thinking for a moment what the hell her parents were thinking when they named her Rae. They never quite explained but it seemed awfully funny to find someone with the same name as hers, or well a guy with the same name as hers. “Well nice to meet you Alec… and you know that’s really weird… my middle name is Alexandra.” She giggled briefly, covering her face with the camera out of embarrassment. “I’m sorry, it just feels strange. As if we were supposed to meet.” She shrugged the thought away, because as sweet as it sounded Rae had a tendency to over think stuff, and over thinking stuff usually led to one of her many paranoid episodes.
“Dancing now sounds good to me, what type of dancing do you do? Like classic, or jazz or… something else?” Rae had to laugh again, this time at herself. “I’m so sorry, I know nothing about dancing. I always had two left feet but you seem quite talented. What year are you in?” She curiously asked as she stared at the little camera’s screen, adjusting the settings for the current light and the moving shots she was planning to take. Well if anything went wrong, Alec seemed nice enough so if her photos sucked she at least would end up with a friend. 341, for alec, alec is adorable 8'3

"No worries," Alec said laughing, "I'm named after some lady that helped my mom when she was pregnant with me, they didn't want to give me a girl name, so they made it me middle name…. That is strange." He said thinking about their names, "Some could call it fate," he said with a little wink in Rae's direction.
"I do pretty much anything, but my favorite dance is lyrical dance," Alec smiled thinking about dancing. "Do you know what lyrical dance is?" He clicked on the next song and began to get a feel of the rhythm, "This is a lyrical dance,"
The lyrics to Alec's all time favorite song flowed through the room. "It's just a drop in the ocean a change in the weather..." he flipped down and did a series of flips and spins to the music feeling like a bird must feel in the sky or a fish in the sea.
As he danced around the girl he glanced down at her camera-covered face and smiled. He tried to imagine her life, living through a camera, it had to be fascinating, seeing things in such a magnificent view. As the lyrics of the song came to and end he danced near the stereo and then ended his dance one the floor with his body collapsed.
Breathing hard trying to catch his breath, he rolled over to his back. Smiling up at Rae he jumped to his feet and turned off the music. "Was that good? Can I see, the pictures? They must be amazing," he said smiling at Rae.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/maggiesrpstuff/BACKGROUNDS/fk5qwnjpg.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » FIRE IT UP. Rae once again had to hide her face behind the camera when Alec winked. She was so not used to socializing that it felt awfully awkward when someone was nice to her but of course it wouldn’t stop her from being nice back. “Fate huh?” She merely mumbled aloud before returning her attention to the camera for brief seconds.
“Lyrical dance?” Nope, she definitely hadn’t heard about that one. Perhaps she should’ve paid more attention to her art classes when she was in high school. “Never heard of it, but sounds interesting.” She tilted her head, truly curious as to what type of dance it was.
As Alec started dancing Rae grew distracted with his moves and flips. After some precious seconds she finally remembered what the hell she was supposed to be doing here and lifted the camera to take the photos. Just like she thought, taking images of a moving person was way easier than asking them to pose for her. She captured a few flips and some moves that looked really dramatic as a snapshot. The best part, or what Rae thought was the best part, was Alec’s face. He didn’t look like he was posing, or trying to smile on purpose for the camera. He looked pretty authentic and unique, just as if she was simply standing there watching him dance and not holding up a camera in front of him.
When the song was over Rae finished with another picture of Alec collapsed on the floor. That one had been for the fun since he looked pretty amusing there. “It was more than good.” She smiled, satisfied and walked up to him, kneeling next to him and turning the camera so he could see the screen. “See?” She flipped through the various photos she took, some of course were better than others but most of them were filled with movement and light. “You’re actually the first person I manage to take photos of without screwing up.” She said, half proud and very satisfied at the results. “Could you dance a bit more? Or should I fan you and drop some water in your face? You look pretty exhausted~” Rae said playfully, now in a much better mood since there was a chance she’d actually get a good grade and not just a measly C-. 389, for alec, dancing! |

..Just.. ..dance..
Alec rubbed the back of his neck nervously, smiling down at the camera. He wondered if he really looked like that while he danced, it was kind of amazing. "I'm fine," Alec smiled realizing how hard he was breathing, trying to make his breathing a little less dramatic. "You're kind of amazing," Alec smiled down a the camera, very pleased with the result.
"I wouldn't mind dancing a little more, that's why I'm here," laughing he turned to the stereo. He was glad he had met Rae, she made him happy and he was sure he had made a good friend in Paris, and it was about time. This song was a little more contemporary, he began dancing to 'Jar of Hearts,' remembering his hard times back in Texas, trying to mask the flashed of pain in his eyes, knowing it was useless. Maybe it could make the pictures a little more interesting. He had always let his dancing make him emotional, which didn't really help the jokes that he got for being a dancer in the first place.
Shaking this off he tried to remember where he was, he was in Paris, accomplishing his dreams, doing the one thing that gave him pure joy in the world. He should be happy, he painted a smile across his face once he remembered the friend on around him that he was helping, he loved helping people.

It was also the first time someone had complimented her portraits. Her photos of animals? Sure, those even got prizes and a few had been published already but she insisted human beings were the hardest things to take photos of. Smiling thankfully and giving a little bow with her head in the process Rae once again stood back to let Alec dance again.
The music was a little different, Rae actually knew this song and it was probably somewhere in the long list of songs from her iPod. Alec’s dancing had changed as well but this time Rae didn’t lose time to lift the camera and take the shots. She focused the lens on Alec’s face this time. He looked sad, but the emotions that were being portrayed looked authentic and even alluring. Once again the photos showed just what Rae wanted them to show, emotion and movement.
The song was over and left Rae wishing it lasted just a minute longer. It was gone though and Rae couldn’t help but sigh as if she were a lovesick teenager. Realizing her slip she covered her face with the camera again, giggling and cursing herself for the bad habit. “That was really good. Why were you sad while dancing though? Not that I’m complaining… this shot will get me an A.” She smiled and turned the camera, showing Alec a close up of his face with a pained expression. “Unless… you don’t want me to show it, looks a bit like a personal expression to me.” She stared at the photo, thinking of how she’d feel if someone took a photo of her while she was sad or while she was sick… most photographers didn’t have much of a work ethic but Rae, being the little people pleaser she was, wouldn’t want to do anything that might upset anyone. 317, for alec, ♥♥♥

"That song, it tends to, y'know bring up memories," Alec said looking at the ground, "and not the best memories at that. But you're definitely welcome to use these pictures, you can really feel the emotions, and all that jazz. You've got a real talent." He said smiling at Rae. He really liked having her around, and didn't want to scare her off telling her his whole like story so he decided to leave it at that. Alec looked down at the picture of him dancing, it was almost hard for him to believe it was actually him, he could not believe that he could actually look that graceful. Taking his eyes from the camera to Rae he smiled again.
"So, tell me about yourself. You're a photography student, aaaand…" he smiled sheepishly wondering what she was about to say. She seemed like the time of person that had an amazing story, the type that inspirational speakers had, what exactly had brought her to Paris? What had got her into photography. Once he stopped his wondering he looked up at Rae and smiled again, feeling oddly happy since he had been here, Rae was definitely going to be one of Alec's good friends, she made him feel happy for no reason, her presence just made his moody brighten automatically. "I like you Rae, you seem like a really great person," and then shut his mouth almost automatically feels his face growing hot, he had an uncanny ability to feel embarrassed about next to nothing, and this was definitely a time that he could embarrass himself. His next great talent was making everything ten times more embarrassing purely by how awkward he felt in that moment.

Those songs mostly appealed to her overly closet romantic side and the fact that she hadn’t found yet someone she could actually date on a regular basis. Sad story, but there was probably something a lot deeper to Alec’s reasons to be sad with that song. “Thank you… for the permission and the compliment. Don’t do it too often though, I might turn into a compliment hungry monster.” She again spoke without buffering her thoughts, which of course earned her a subtle blush. It was true though, everyone liked compliments and Rae didn’t get them often, at least not from this particular type of photography.
Well she was satisfied now. It had barely been what… twenty minutes? And she already got some good material and a new friend. What had started as a crappy day was ending up to be quite a nice experience. “Well I’m a photography student aaaaaand…” She looked at the ceiling, as if trying to find something interesting to say. In all honesty Rae always thought her life was pretty plain and simple, that is until she added little details like the fact her parents were very well known people back home in New York, or the fact that she had suffered a little ‘incident’ during her childhood, or the fact that she was missing a toe… or the fact that she had a paranoid disorder. Ok maybe she was really complex but all those things were way too scary to mention to a new friend. “I’m American, from New York in fact, if you couldn’t tell by my lack of French and slight accent.” Rae stroked an imaginary beard while thinking about how she usually spoke in english around the hallways despite this being a french school. “Ummmh I’m also an activist, and I take that kind of stuff seriously so if you ever see a poor stray kitten do pick it up and I’ll find it a home.” She said, half joking but being serious about the activist part.
“What else…” She asked, more to herself than to Alec as she sat on the floor, spreading her legs and resting her weight on her palms as her camera rested to her side. Her train of thought was interrupted by Alec saying she was nice, which only brought upon a blush very similar to the one Alec provoked on himself. “Thank you. I like you too… you know in a ‘I just met you but I like you’ way? No creepy feelings or anything involved there I swear!” Shutting up abruptly, Rae covered her own mouth with a hand to stop her from embarrassing herself any further. “I’m sorry, you can kinda tell I’m not good at this ‘being social’ thing.” Rae said with her voice still muffled behind her hand. She felt so embarrassed now, but well, at least Alec wouldn’t be the only one blushing in this room. 513, for alec, -le squee!-

Alec wrinkled his nose and shook his head as if a fowl odor hat filled the air around him, "Yeah, feelings, they stink." He smiles up at Rae trying to make her laugh. "I can't hold it against you, I'm not that great at being social either, I usually get slapped in the face or want to slap myself in the face." Blushing again, feeling his face grow hot at almost become such a familiar sensation that it was comfortable.
"I'm American too, but I'm obviously not a Yankee, like you," Alec smiled nudging her side with his elbow "I'm from Texas," he said with a charming southern smile. "Dance is my life, I should probably be an activist or do something good like that, but nothing gets my like a good rhythm. And don't worry about becoming a monster, I like complementing people. You won't feel hungry for a while, my mom made me a little too sweet for my own good." Alec looked down feeling his face grow into another dimension of heat. Laughing loudly he turned to her, "I sound like a dork don't I?"
Alec then stood up and walked around the room, noticing a few different things about the room. It was oddly empty, obviously to make room for dancing kids. But even the walls were bare, a plain grey, he wondered how anyone could be inspired by a place like this, and why he had been so in love with places similar to these when he was back home. "Do you want to go somewhere else? I find a lot more inspiration outside, you might too. Or I could dance here again if you'd like that."
