This night had been nothing but flawless. Harvey couldn't remember the last time he and Vi had had such an amazing time. The bewildering thing was that he'd been clean the last two days as well - another part of Vi's gift. He knew it meant a lot to her when he tried, and so he put in an extra effort this time. It seemed everything was going perfectly, which succeeded in convincing him that his decision tonight was right. It was something he'd been contemplating for a while, though since this was technically their second try at this, he didn't want to rush it. Tonight was the day though, and Harvey knew it. It was Valentine's, the night was still lovely, and Vi was having the time of her life. So tonight he was going to ask her to be his, forever. He planned to propose to Vi at the top of the ferris wheel overlooking the Paris nightlife. A part of him knew she would say yes, but even the slight chance that she'd say otherwise scared the hell out of him.
There were few things that truly frightened the tattooed male, but losing Violet had been one of them since the day he laid eyes on her. Okay, maybe not quite since that exact moment. To be honest Harv hadn't expected anything from Vi, she was just a cute girl he wanted - more physically than emotionally at first. He'd never expected her to win his nearly dead heart. He'd never in a million years thought that meeting her would take him here. Looking back now though there was no one else he'd rather be with. Losing her the once was enough to remind him of how much she truly meant to him. Sure, he wasn't always the best boyfriend. Harvey knew Vi deserved so much more than him, but he was selfish and unwilling to let her go. He'd be damned if someone else ever stole her from him. Anyone that tried to separate them would be lucky to be breathing when he was through with them. Not that they hadn't dealt with it before. It was a seemingly normal thing between them for someone to try and break them up. Almost no one supported their relationship. It was easy to understand why, from the outside they likely looked like the worst couple. All the fighting, jealousy, issues. They just didn't understand though. If everyone could only see how in love the two were. All the problems they had could be fixed. Love conquers all, right?
Harvey didn't care what anyone thought. Vi was nearly the only female, excluding his sister, to ever bring out any true compassion from him. Harv, king of all jackasses, did have a soft side deep down; and it belonged to Vi. Forever. The male couldn't, no wouldn't, imagine a life without her. If she ever left him he wouldn't want to live. Vi was literally the air he breathed. She was the legs to his table, and without her he was nothing.
So far his Valentines plan had gone just as he'd hoped. He'd gotten her their puppy last night, and they spent most their afternoon after that shopping and spoiling the little creature. Harv wasn't a usual fan of animals but Vi was, and he'd do anything to see her smile. They had an... extra special night as well, in fact Harv was still sore, though that wasn't about to stop him from having another extra special ending to tonight. He'd woken up purposefully early this morning, the first time he got up before Vi in months. Harv had cooked breakfast, setting up the dinning room table with a bouquet of roses and rose petals, even having the rose petals trail from their bedroom door all the way into the kitchen. The rose petals on the dining table formed a heart, and in the middle of the heart was a jewelry box containing a lovely 14k white and rose gold necklace. There was also a set of keys that belonged to a Jeep Wrangler he'd been fixing up the last few months. He'd even taken the time to have a custom paint job done on it that he knew would make Vi flip her lid, and it did. The morning, needless to say, had gone over quite well.
Afterward they had gotten ready and went into town, roaming a bit to kill time. They stopped at a store to pick up a few things then around one Harv had pre-rented a small boat, and took them out to Seine river for the afternoon. He treated her like a goddess on the personal cruise, carrying her around and hand-feeding her the treats he'd brought. After a couple hours they returned the boat and went out to dinner at Paris' most prestige restaurant. Harv had even gotten the reservations for one of the most secluded tables more than a month previously. Dinner went as smoothly as the entire day had gone, and as they left the restaurant Harv's stomach began to turn, knowing what was next. He held the door open for Vi, taking her hand and intertwining their fingers together as he led her to his Lambo. His eyes gazed over at her, an all too elated smile sitting upon his full lips. Harvey didn't know how long it had been since he was this genuinely happy and excited. "Are you ready for the last part of your Valentines day, Vi?" He voice was soft, full of affection for the woman he hoped was soon to be his fiancee. Lifting one of her hands to his lips he kissed it softly, squeezing her hand gently.

[scrolly:h(250),w(330),sy][bg=222222]Violet hadn’t been sure what to think of the past couple of days when they had first began- it had almost seemed as though they were too good to be true. Harvey had been perfect ever since she and him had gotten into their argument about each other, and she had gone and spilled all that she’d never really meant to about how she felt about their situation. The entire thing had left her uncomfortable- he’d picked words that had left her uneasy, but had carried her to bed the moment he knew she was crying; and with that came the promise that he wouldn’t want to be with anyone else. Her only concern had been that maybe she wasn’t good enough- that despite his words there was always going to be a prettier girl, or a girl better suited. That had been the way it was from the start- shock inducing jealousy twisting the two of them apart from each other. And while Vi had insisted at the time that Ashley Wilde had never even been on her radar, it had broken her apart all those years back knowing that there had been someone else who stood a chance against her for Harvey Ashton’s heart.
That was what left her so uneasy now; the perfection that the last two days had been. Harvey had taken every chance he could to take care of her- there was no snarky comments, nor were there sharp instantaneous replies- only soothing, sweet comments that seemed almost like they came from someone else’s lips. Or that would be the case, had Violet not known Harvey so long. She knew that past that exterior of cold replies and dry with there was a man who genuinely wanted to love, and loved someone- she was just one of the few people who really had the chance to see that. Lord knew, Violet didn’t mind that at all. She much preferred having Harvey holding her hand and twisting their fingertips together, kissing her forehead and holding her close. He did everything so perfectly in these times; he stopped at nothing to make her smile, and he just- he was perfect, in every single way.
Violet couldn’t figure out what exactly it was though, that was making this happen. In all the years she’d known Harvey, Valentines had usually ended up a small scale affair for the both of them. Sometimes he would do a little something- one year he forgot. It was never something outstanding- that was usually left for birthdays and anniversary days. So it was curious then, that here they were, Violet entirely enamored with how the last two days had gone, and how Harvey had just… been. First it had been his attitude- he’d given up and quit for the last two days for her, a shining moment for the both of them. She knew they must’ve both been going through withdrawals, but neither made mention of it. They were either too distracted, or keeping it to themselves. But he didn’t make a single sound about it, instead keeping a smile on his face that set her heart into extra little beats- making everything perfect. Then there had been yesterday, the present with the new puppy. Violet hadn’t been expecting anything of the sort, and it had made for a charm of a day, Harv taking Violet to the shelter to show his girlfriend their new puppy, with the big blue eyes, and the cutest face Vi had ever seen. The afternoon had been spent giving the little thing adoring amounts of attention, and buying everything they needed in the house- by the end of everything Violet had been sure that was the perfect Valentine’s gift on it’s own.
But the morning made for more news; she woke up to flower petals leading her down the hallway to their kitchen, breakfast home made and Harvey awake. That in itself was unusual, but it didn’t even stop there! The roses led to a bouquet, and next to the bouquet was a box, and in the box lay the prettiest necklace Violet had ever seen. Okay, so that was the gift- the perfect Valentines was set. But Harvey had never done things half assed when he set his mind to it, and so next to box was an unfamiliar set of keys. Upon asking, Violet was led off to the garage of their place, finding herself with her own jeep- a pink one. Well, it was obvious that was just for her, imagining Harvey driving that for any other reason than he absolutely had to was simply impossible. He’d gone and made her freak out then; it had likely been entertaining watching her jump into the driver’s seat and play with all the things he’d had set up for her, and even more so amusing when she nearly broke the bass a few minutes after turning on the radio. Typical Violet.<P>
…and yet still, it didn’t end! Harvey hadn’t given her much information, but set into the heels she’d picked out for the occasion he’d driven them out to a dock, taking her out on a private boat trip of their own where Violet was entirely sure that she was going to melt- Harv pulled all the stops, doting on her entirely, even hand feeding her (which had ended up turning into more of her laughing every time he tried, no matter how sweet the intention). From there they had gone back home, and afternoon had turned to dinner; Violet had dressed up like Harvey had asked, and they’d gone to the finest restaurant the young woman had ever seen. It was the perfect end to the evening, and as they left the restaurant, Violet was trying to come up with words to describe how happy she was. It was perfect- everything was perfect… you see why she was so lost in all of this? Her mind was half caught in heaven, absolutely enchanted by Harvey and everything he was doing, and half trying to figure out what made this Valentine’s Day so special. What made it better than the rest?
She tried not to let it bother her though, and so as Harvey led them to his car, she gave him a smile. ”There’s another part?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and giving a small giggle, squeezing his hand in her own. ”You’re trying to give me a heart attack with all of these thing Harvey, I swear. What more else could you possibly do to make any of this better than it already is?” It was true! Violet couldn’t think of anything that could surpass anything else he’d done, or any of it combined. In fact, she was starting to even doubt her own smaller present, her own little doting gift for the end of the night, as she was entirely positive that it couldn’t compare to all of this. But how was she supposed to know that it would end up being a Valentine’s Day like this! Giving a small sigh, Violet waited as Harvey opened her door for him, stopping him a moment to press her lips to his own for a single moment before she moved into the car. ”Thank you for this Harvey, really. It’s perfect. Absolutely perfect.” she insisted, pulling away to sit down and let him close the door. Seriously, she thought, as Harv revved the engine to life. What the hell could he possible do to make this better?
