PERSONALITY,
in one word, madison would be described as childish. but to get a full personality, you need more than just a word. sure, madi is a complete child most of the time, but she's insanely protective of her friends. she'll even fight for the rights of complete strangers, and believes in everyone being able to make their own choices. but madi is a bit of a hypocrite in the sense that she's constantly worrying about others; she can't help it, her heart is just too big to be closed off. of course, along with having a big heart, madison loves joking around. that could range from a little joke slipped in to a conversation to ducttaping precious objects to the ceiling. but everything she does is in good humor, even when she yells at someone; it's always to protect herself or someone else. she never aims to hurt anyone, really.

HISTORY,
some people aren't ready to have kids, and some can be a little... too ready. that was the case with madison's parents; they had always wanted kids, but being infertile, they weren't able to have any. eventually, the couple decided to adopt a child of their own, since pets just didn't seem to be enough for them. by the time they found young (two at the time) madison in a tiny local orphanage, they would adopt an alien if they had to, as long as it was young and loveable.
some parents would have been immediately disappointed by how much love they had to give in order to get, but edgar and lilian were delighted to give madison anything she needed. as long as they had the pride of securing a good future for her, everything was all right. but as school started, madison's adoptive parents could only be described as 'helicopter parents'. they wanted to make sure madison did everything right, got perfect grades, had enough friends... and madison hated it. she couldn't stand the way that instead of yelling at her when she did something wrong, they just showered her in love when she did something right. well, in a sick way, their work paid off. madison had plenty of friends, but no one that was ever close to her or understood her. she was popular by the simple fact that everyone liked her family's large house and parties.
as it continued into middle school, madison got fed up. she loved her parents with all her heart, but they were just plain annoying! madison couldn't yell at them, but she eventually, exasperated, asked them to stop being so protective. they were taking away her life, and she was tired of it. other kids had a life, so why couldn't she? oh, her parents didn't react well to that, not at all. in their minds, edgar and lilian had given madison everything she could ever want, and now she was telling them that she didn't appreciate it. not the way madison saw it, but both parties were stubborn, strong willed, and unwilling to change for the other. they didn't even bother to make a compromise, just sent madison away to a college for a degree (of her choice) as soon as possible.
she went to a college in minnesota for two years of a degree in education, planning on becoming an english teacher, then enrolled in a program that let her spend a few years in another country. the country the current program was offering was france, and it included boarding, so why not? it got her even farther away from her family and exposed her to other cultures, and that couldn't be a bad thing. it didn't even cost that much, being part of the school experience and all. she alternates days between continuing studying her normal college material through an online connection and working as a student teacher at la lumineuse, the school that was looking for a few student teachers. and for the past year, she's loved it.
