PERSONALITY, The first thing you think when you hear Cole's name is "Oh, that quiet kid who's always lost in his head?" and you would be somewhat right. He's always getting lost, both mentally and physically. His lack of sense of direction is one reason but it's mostly because he's too busy thinking about the strangest things.
The quiet part is... well, one cannot deny that he's quiet, but once you break down his walls, he'll be spewing out whatever he's thinking without hesitation. His strangeness is ineffable, really. There's no proper way to describe it.
Moving on, he's also fond of creating things- whether it's by doodling, writing, cooking, baking, or just thinking and making worlds inside his head. His second course choice, if his parents didn't allow him to take up art/writing, is architecture.
He dislikes predictability and being normal; he actually embraces his weirdness. He also hates- with a passion- judgemental people (as he grew up with a laid back and open minded bunch), expectations from himself and from others around him (expectations to be brilliant, to succeed, to be normal, to be a great artist), and rules. Rules get on his nerves but he sees the reason in SOME rules.
He's afraid of insects, clowns, and mascots- they creep the fruk out of him. He also fears, basically, merely existing and not living. Cole's deeper fears include being forgotten, and disappointing those he loves.

HISTORY, Mary and Cass met at a park somewhere in Italy, when they were 24 and 21 respectively. They saw each other often and one day, Cass decided to strike up a conversation and afterwards they became close friends. After a while, they decided to try dating and their relationship progressed to living with each other, as if they were married, as marriage of the same gender wasn't legal yet back then.
They bought a house, with Mary in med school and Cass working multiple jobs- as a painter, as a teacher, and whatnot. After a few years, they decided to adopt a boy whom they named Jeremy. They adopted two more after a few years, which would be Cole and Leonel.
About a year after they adopted Cole, though, Zayden, Cass' younger brother, came to live with them as he was kicked out of their parents' house. It worked because the same thing happened to Castielle when they found out she was seeing Mary.
Now, years later, Jeremy moved to France to study medicine, just like his mother; Cole followed him to study art and literature, and Leon is in middle school in Italy, with Mary, Cass, and Zayden.
