The sun had risen about an hour to an hour and a half before. Of course, Maximillienne, Odette's slightly younger twin sister, was still asleep. Odette left her wrapped up in the fuzzy blue blankets in her room. The young French beauty had waken up at around six o'clock, too early for her liking. Unfortunately, she couldn't get back so sleep, she she got out of bed and began to tame her mangled mess of hair, which flowed down her shoulders and ended around her tailbone. She threw on some comfortable clothes, put on her make up, and rushed out the door with her horn. So far, she hadn't met any of the instructors at Le Lumineuse. She was actually quite worried to play in front of them, which is why she'd been practicing her beloved french horn for hours at a time. Maxi would practice with her most of the time, but she also had to worry about her singing, so Odette was way more wrapped up in her horn that Max. Today, however, she couldn't practice in the house just yet. She'd waken Maximillienne for the psat few days, the young girl needed sleep. So, Odette took herself and her horn to the auditorium, which she took thirty minutes to find. Luckily, it was empty - a perfect place to practice her horn. Nobody would show up at eight, would they? Nah, she could practice in silence. Odette made her way into the auditorium, seeing that there was a perfect spot at the front, on the stage. As she walked along the wall, closer to the stage, she felt a few switches. Without hesitation, she pushed them up. A few lights switched on, leaving the room dim but lit. Grinning lightly, Odette stepped onto the stairs that led to the stage. Her first step on the stage was grand. Quickly, Ode turned, glancing out into the ocean of red velvet chairs where the audience would sit. Visions of a massive audience filled her mind, their eyes staring directly at her as she put the horn to her lips, buzzing into the instrument to create a powerful sound. Odette turned away, walking towards the back of the stage, pushing the curtain apart delicately with her fingers. Just behind the curtain, she found a chair, after a few minutes of looking. It wasn't a very nice chair, just a make-shift metal chair. The seat was padded though, so Ode could deal. She grabbed the top of the chair and yanked it to a spot at the front of the stage. Swallowing, Odette silently set her french horn case down on the ground, undoing the three locks that kept her horn safe inside. When she pushed one side up, a beautiful trigger french horn appeared. It's brass was shiny, the valves without a finger print staining them. She took very good care of her french horn. Odette also grabbed a piece of music she had resting in her french horn. It was her audition music to get into this school. Grinning lightly at it, she grabbed her portable music stand (which she carried with her everywhere) and stood it up in front of her. Ode set the music down, connected her mouthpiece to her horn, and raised the divine instrument to her lips. For starters, she just played a simple F note, the first note she ever learned to play on this instrument. Then, she glanced at the beginning of the music with alert hazel eyes. With one breath inbetween her F and the first measure of her audition piece, she began playing. The song started out slow, giving Odette the chance to make her horn sound beautiful, it's tone glorious. Then, as the piece sped up, Ode showed her talent with her embouchure, the way her lips were set. Her fingers danced over the valves, her thumb pressing down on the trigger every once and a while. Every note was perfect, beautiful. This is how Odette got into Le Lumineuse and it's how she is going to become a famous french horn player. 691 WORDS , NO ONE TAGGED , OUTFIT , OPEN! |
