Playing sweet,,make me move like a freak -- maureen smiled as she woke up. she sat up slowly and stretched her arms over her head. rays of sunlight were shining through the window, warming the room with natural light. it was a beautiful day outside, and she couldn't wait to get dressed to be out in it. maybe she would shop today, she really needed a new purse. her current one was getting worn and broken. she threw back the covers and swung her legs over the side of her bed, setting them down with a thud. she stood up and stretched yet again, then bent down to do some toe touches to stretch out all of her muscles. it felt good to get her blood pumping and her energy up.
-- she danced over to her closet and slid back the doors. what to wear. maureen wondered if she actually had too many clothes. nah, that definitely wasn't possible. she picked a pair of dark skinny jeans, and a cute loose fitting pink sweater. a pair of pink flats would complete her ensemble and she let her hair fall in loose waves. maureen passed over her makeup. she didn't feel like wasting time that could be spent outside in the sunshine. maureen inhaled the air. she loved paris. it was her hometown, and she loved every part of it. maureen couldn't imagine living anywhere else in the world. as curious as she was about america, she wouldn't want to live there. no where could be as grand as her paris.
-- maureen walked down the row of shoppes and little boutiques. maybe she would stop by a cafe for a latte later. the crisp autumn air was pleasant and refreshing. it made her want to dance. then again, everything made her want to dance. as she was glancing into the windows of the shoppes she spotted the cutest, most adorable purse in the history of purses. she had to have it. maureen crossed the threshold into the boutique and the little bell made a soft tinkling noise as she opened the door. "bonjour" maureen spoke with a smile to the cashier. she asked how much the purse was, and realized it was in her price range. that hardly ever happened. maureen told the cashier she was going to purchase it, but wanted to look around a little more. it had lots of cute things in it. maybe she could find something else to buy since she was in the shopping sort of mood.

With her black coffee on her hand Anouk opened the door of the Cafe and blended herself in the crowd. Today she was out in the autumn morning to do some shopping, just for the simple pleasure of it. Her father had sent her some money along with some pictures of the place he was living in right now. When the letters arrived she always wanted to pack her bags and run to his side, spend some quality time with him and forget about her life in here. Then she caught a glimpse of Alexei leaving home to the gallery, or her mother’s smile and warm eyes when she looked at her step-dad and she couldn’t muster the courage to tell her mother she wanted to leave for a while. Her life no was in Paris, and she couldn’t leave a semester, she had chosen the hard path, leaving was not a possibility. Maybe shopping hadn’t been such a good idea, she had too much things in her mind and too much free time to mull over them. She took a sip of her black coffee and felt a bit better, the bitter taste and the strong power of caffeine waking her up and pressing back her headache.
The weather was a bit warmer for being autumn and she light was golden as it danced with the colors of the leaves and the city. French girls, all exquisitely dressed, were roaming the streets with shopping bags from shops like Chanel, Elie Saab, Burberry… But she wasn’t going that big today, though she will definitely have to take a look at them at some point or another. Anouk loved to go to little shops because she always found cute things hidden at some given corner, some of them vintage, little treasures nobody paid attention. Today a shop was calling her attention, promising some fun time and peace of mind for some minutes, she opened the door of the shop and gave the woman behind the counter a warm smile. There was another woman in the place, but her back was at hers so Anouk didn’t recognized her. She walked toward the near self with bags and purses and took a look at them, until the girl turned and a wide smile spread on Anouk’s lips. “Maureen!” She called her taking another sip of the cup. “I didn’t expect to see you here. How are you?” Maureen was one of her close friends, someone she spent a lot of time with and even partied with. Maureen was one of the few who had possibilities of her opening up to, and it was delightful to see her there.

-- every single purse in this amazing little store was calling out to her. she kept reminding herself she had to budget and not be an impulsive buyer. but it was so difficult! maureen silently chided herself and put the purse back on the shelf. maybe just a little something, like a new bracelet or a ring. yes, that would work just fine to curb her desire to buy, buy, buy. a coffee break was destined to be in her future as well, until she heard a very familiar voice call out her name. "anouk!" maureen squealed happily. she was just as surprised to see anouk here. "i'm good! how are you!?" she asked, smiling. anouk was one of her best friends. maureen felt like she could really trust her. not only was she nice and funny, but she knew how to have a good time. they hit up a lot of parties together. maybe maureen would ask if she wanted to party this weekend. maureen felt as if she wasn't doing anything but dancing and studying. the dancing part wasn't bad, but she was sure if she looked at another assignment her brain was going to explode.
-- most of the students here would say their parents would kill them if they got bad grades but it was her aunt who would come after her like a wild banshee should that happen. maureen liked getting good grades though. it showed hard work and determination. giving anything less than her all was unheard of for maureen. but she wasn't going to start moping now. she had just met up with one of her friends! she had a feeling today was going to be a very good day. "so, what brings you out here today?" maureen asked smiling, motioning for anouk to follow her to the little display of jewelry. she spotted the drink in her hand, and realized how good coffee sounded. a little caffeine never hurt anyone. maureen poured over the sparkly things. she was addicted to color. she had jewelry that she had no idea what it would match with, but she just liked looking at them and wearing them with anything. maybe she would be the inspiration for some new fashion. she highly doubted it though. maureen pretty much just dressed how she wanted. she had never been a follower of what was in and what was out.
ooc;; sorry for the short post and for taking so long. my muse just isn't function today. darn midterms. ><

The reason her father was calling out to her with such strong force was because she wanted to leave Alexei behind, she wanted to put real distance between them. A change of air was going to do some good to poor broken-hearted Anouk. It had been a huge step for her to just get out of bed and walk outside the apartment. Faking was something she did very well, no one at home had noticed what was going on with her and she refused to let Alexei know, for all he cared she was happily involved in her relationship with Cass and he might as well believe what she had told him so many times, nobody breaks her heart, she did the breaking. This time of course it was totally different but who knew it? No one. She made a face to her coffee and tried to think of other things, just like her best friend standing in front of her. Lately Maureen had been busy with her dance and studying, Anouk understood dancing was one of the hardest arts and they had to practically drop their social lives in order to become the best. She was happy this time they had run into each other because she needed some girl time.
She smiled at the girl, for once the smile wasn’t fake, it was real and bright, and she had missed her friend so much. “I’m fine too.” The lie came easily to her lips, she had said that line so many times already she might as well record it and press play anytime someone asked her about that. She was about to roll her eyes at the thought when she remembered her friend wasn’t to blame for that, she most probably won’t now the news. “I’m just doing some shopping, I felt like going out for a bit.” She said smiling at the girl and showing her some of the bags, she had been shopping for a while already when she stopped for her coffee and she was about to head home when she saw the shop, something inside had called her, maybe destiny wanted her to meet up with Maureen. “How about you? Training keeps you busy girl.” It had been a while since she had gone partying with Maureen, they always managed to have the best times together, and it was one of the few she had control over her, she didn’t get as bad as the others because with Maureen it was different. She didn’t want to forget, she wanted to enjoy, they always made sure of that.

-- maureen was glad to see a smile on her friend's face. she could tell something wasn't quite right, but maybe she was just having a crappy day or something. there wasn't anything like retail therapy to help the soul, and having some girl time. maureen hadn't realized she had missed her friends so much. dancing had really taken up so much of her time. she needed to do a better job of prioritizing her dancing with her free time. this was a chronic problem with dancers, and some of them got burnt out and gave up dancing for good. maureen was glad that she had never been pushed and forced to dance. she did it because she loved it, because it was just her. dancing was her everything, which was both good and bad at the same time. at least her brother would always be able to write, no matter his age. but maureen would be forced, eventually, to stop dancing. a life of dancing wreaked havoc on the body if not done right. maureen would make darn sure she would take care of her body, no matter what. she thought everyone should take care of their body though. you only got one, why wouldn't you want to treat it the best you could?
-- a smile spread across maureen's face. "same. the fresh air is doing wonders for me." it was true. being inside for too long made her cranky and irritable. the air in the studio often got humid, stale, and somewhat suffocating. the smell wasn't the best in there sometimes, either. maureen shuddered at the thought of all those sweaty bodies dancing around and sometimes bumping into each other. luckily everyone in her class had good personal hygiene so it wasn't that big of a deal. maureen checked out the bags anouk was holding. "oh! you have been busy! get any good deals?" maureen chirped happily. there was nothing better than getting deals. she definitely called herself a bargain shopper. "just needed to get outside. ugh, i know. i'm definitely scheduling some me time in here soon. i feel so run down. so i'm thinking we need a girl's weekend very soon!" the idea was probably the best one she'd had in a very long time. skipping a weekend of practice here and there wouldn't hurt anything, considering all the extra hours she put in through the week. right now, nothing sounded better than hitting some awesome clubs, maybe getting a massage, and maureen could definitely use a good manicure. pedicures had always been out of the question for her. maureen hoped anouk would be up for it, not that she really thought that she wouldn't, though.

Anouk was running away as always and concealing things behind her smile. Hiding was the best answer when you’ve got no idea what to do anymore or how to handle things. She had thought getting out was going to provide her with some peace of mind to think about what to do from now on, but so far she had nothing clear at all. Her mood rose a bit of course when she bumped into Maureen and the girl offered her escape from her mind she had been looking for all this time. Anouk avoided the topic even with herself because it just hurt too much. She laughed and showed the bags to Maureen, she had only got a pair of shoes and a short white dress. She hadn’t been out shopping something in particular; she just liked to go from shop to shop and getting what she liked. “So far I got some shoes and a dress, hadn’t been focused enough today.” With all the things going on her mind she sure skipped some cute things on her way, but who could blame her? “What about you? Found something worth buying?” She hadn’t realized how much she had missed some girl time until she got Maureen in front of her. Anouk was always surrounded by boys, she didn’t know how but it had been always like that and though it pleased her it could be tiresome too.
Her face lit up when Maureen suggested the idea of a weekend together, and the words ‘spa outside town’ crossed her mind as soon as the words left the brunette’s mouth. “We can go to this new spa outside the city? Near Versailles.” She needed to disconnect, she needed a good bath and massages and opening her eyes to the country and silence, there she could find her peace of mind and her muse again and of course fill her friend in everything that had been happening to her. “I think we can both use some time outside here and enjoy each other company.” And of course there would be guys and parties, because that just the way Anouk rolled and she always found a way to get in the best parties around, never mind she wasn’t even from that town. Of course it wouldn’t be as wild as she was used to; it would be just for fun. “I’m going to make a reservation as soon as I get home, I’m kidnapping you for the weekend.” She said laughing and looking at the purse that had called her attention early when she had decided to go into the shop.

-- maureen peeked in the bags. "nice finds." she said, smiling. "yeah, i'm kind of just drifting today." there wasn't really anything keeping her attention. she had just really wanted to get out of the house. what better way to keep her somewhat busy than shopping? it was nice to not think of anything else, and not have to worry about anything. "i did actually! i found this gorgeous bag." maureen said happily, holding up her find to show anouk. she was really proud of finding the purse. it had been the only thing she wanted to buy in particular. now she was just browsing. "this one is falling apart, so i really did need it." a chuckle escaped her pretty glossed lips. the excuse was true, so if anyone asked, she didn't have to feel guilty about spending money on a purse that was slightly overpriced.
-- a smile crossed maureen's face as anouk's did. and the next words out of her friend's mouth was music to maureen's ears. a squeal that escaped from her mouth, received a dirty look from the cashier. she wouldn't say anything until after maureen paid for her purse. she knew how the salespeople operated. especially when in competition with other stores. "that sounds lovely!" it sounded more than lovely, in fact. she could already almost feel the deep massages, all her soreness from dancing melting away. they both needed the time away as well. "i was thinking the same thing. i feel like i've been neglecting you, and everyone else for that matter!" she confessed. she really did feel bad about it.
-- and she could only imagine what other antics they would get up to. probably a few parties and some shopping. anouk always knew where the best parties were, and she could always get into them. but what she was really looking forward to the most was just spending time with her friend, some good quality girl time; just talking and doing girly things. that was the part she missed the most. "awesome! no kidnapping necessary, i'll come willingly." maureen said playfully. she saw anouk glance towards a purse, and she had a pretty good idea of which one it was. "you should totally get that purse. it's very cute." purses had to be maureen's guilty pleasure. the one she was carrying now had the be the longest lasting purse she had ever carried. probably wouldn't so if she wasn't broke half the time or if she wasn't so busy.

Life was keeping both of them busy; Maureen hadn’t been the only one with projects and things to do. Anouk had been very busy painting for her assignments and projects and since Alex’s rejection she just wanted to stay home curled into a ball in her bed and sleep. But it had been a good idea getting out of the house and breathing some air, her mind had definitely felt the change and though the clouds of her soul were still there now a tiny bit of sunshine came through thanks to her friend. She looked at the bag in hand and nodded, approving it. “Looks really cute, it suits you.” Anouk was a fashion freak, it took years of hard training, reading fashion magazines and watching runaways, tracking down websites and developing some kind of fashion taste. Shopping was something she loved and that kept her entertained for a good long while, though today she wasn’t in her best from and was lacking of shopping spirit. It was always great to be able to spend as much money as she wanted on things like that; she never had to worry about the money because her father and mother had her well stocked.
Delighted that Maureen had accepted going out for the weekend with her she made a mental note of reserving at the spa. “Perfect! And don’t worry; you hadn’t been the only one busy lately.” And god knew she needed that break from the world. Some time away from Alexei will give her some perspective that was the reason she had thought about leaving to Sydney when her father had called. She still hadn’t made a decision and there was no need to hurry at all, her father would wait her forever if necessary. Parties outside Paris were always a blast and shopping was also something promising. “Yeah I think I should. It looks good.” She answered looking at the purse and taking it, not really in the mood. But she was there right? At least her body was, she was still alive, so why not indulging a little bit more like she always did? “Now I bumped into you I won’t let you go that easily, I think we can use some time shopping together.” She picked the purse from the shelved and went to pay for it, not even looking at the price tag.

-- "thanks!" maureen said happily as she admired her new bag. it would have to last her a very long time because she wasn't sure she could even afford this one. it was totally worth it though. maureen wished that she could be as trendy and fashionable as anouk. she remembered her one attempt at it, and it was too much work; buying all the fashion magazines and keeping up with the changing trends. she had no idea who anouk did it. maureen did, however, enjoy the fact anouk was a fashion freak because she could ask her what was in and what was out and anouk would know.
-- "i'm so excited!" not that her life was very hectic or anything, but just a small weekend away from everything would be very relaxing and peaceful. some quality girl time was also definitely needed. when was the last time she had spend time with anouk? "it seems everyone has been busy with school or something." it was such a downer. it seems school was put in place just to ruin kids' social lives. she probably would skip more or stay out more if her aunt wouldn't kill her for getting bad grades. actually, she probably wouldn't. maureen cared too much about silly things like grades and the like.
-- maureen grinned when her friend picked up the purse. anouk didn't really seem into it though. maureen followed behind her friend to the cashier. she wished she didn't have to worry about prices of things. she was kind of jealous of anouk in that respect. but she never flaunted it. maureen couldn't stand people who flaunted their money in front of everyone. it was one of biggest pet peeves. she wondered what it would be like to have a lot of money, or at least more money that what she had. would she be any different? she know she probably wouldn't have the same work ethic. "i agree! i'm feeling a new pair of shoes, or maybe a new dress." once you caught the shopping bug, you had no choice but to shop.

She was breathing, talking, walking, and feeling the hot liquid going down her throat leaving a bitter taste of coffee behind. But she didn’t feel alive at all, her body was there but her mind was dumb, it was as if her body was acting automatically without her having to think. She didn’t want to smile, or pretend anymore, she didn’t want to do the things she normally did like hanging around with friends and spending time buying cute things. What was going on with her lately? The fact that Alexei had rejected her didn’t mean the world was going to end right? The proof of it was that she was still feeling, even if it was pain all she could felt, even if she was suffering so much she could hardly breathe. One day she will get over him and lead a normal life, but until then Anouk would have to go through all that and fight to not drown. She still kept going out with her friends, she went to parties and coffee and sleepovers and she kept her normal busy social life, now more than ever because she just had to avoid him.
Anouk couldn’t stand being in the same room as Alexei anymore and he couldn’t stand her being near either so it was better for both of them. She looked at her friend and smiled, shrugging her shoulders. She really could care less about school right at the moment. “We will definitely need something for a night out clubbing.” She said to Maureen. Anouk managed to get into all the best parties and clubs with just a bat of her eyelashes, it was one of the perks that being sexy had. She could get invitations to parties threw by people she had never met and manage to have the greatest time in there. “Lavender is one of the colors of this fall, Dior had an amazing dress in the prêt-â-porter of this year.” She flashed the cashier a smile and the opened the door for Maureen. “So we have to look for lavender.” She winked at her friend, she knew Maureen loved fashion too though she didn’t have the time to read all those magazines and fashion shows. Anouk didn’t have it either but she had to do the effort if she wanted to keep being chic and always in. She walked out the shop and into the cold streets of Paris, pointing toward a shop where they could find cheap shoes.

-- maureen glanced at her friend. she could tell something was just...off with anouk. she didn't seem like her normal self. she had heard a few things around school, but maureen didn't know whether to believe them or not or how much of the rumors were actually true, and anouk seemed into their shopping, and maureen knew she had been just as busy as ever. maybe she was just having an off day or something. if the time was right, she'd have to ask her if everything was okay, or if she wanted to talk. sometimes someone just needed that reassurance that someone cared about them and was concerned about them.
-- her thoughts were brought away from her study habits to clubbing. "i agree! i definitely need something new to wear." she felt like she wore the same things over and over. something new would perk both of them up, along with a night of clubbing and partying. and having anouk with her was sure to grant her access to the hottest clubs and parties in the city. she never went with anouk for this reason, but it was definitely nice. "oh! and lucky i love the color lavender!" maureen grinned. it was such a lovely color. had she already thought about how lucky she was to have a friend who knew everything about the latest fashions? surely she had.
-- they headed back out onto the cold street, now on a wonderful little mission to find something hot and in the color lavender, and definitely some matching shoes. that's the direction they were headed first. shoes were maureen's weakness, as well as bags and purses. most of her money was wasted on those two things. she had no idea who actually looked at her feet, or if anyone ever noticed her new shoes besides her best friends, but they just made her feel great and very classy. she also had a slight habit of changing her purses as much as she changed her outfits. a girl always had to match and color coordinate!

Anouk was trying to get her mid to focus on the shopping and her friend, and failing miserably at it. Not because she didn’t love Maureen or shopping but because the only thing that filled her mind right at the moment was the pain and the rejection and how was she going to survive now that her hopes were crushed and burned to nothing more than ashes. Anouk never thought she had any hopes of getting together until Alexei rejected her, then she realized some unaware corner of her mind had developed some hopes on its own and it hurt like nothing else to have them destroyed like that. She smiled at her doing her best effort and feeling a bit better as she started to enjoy the company of her friend. “There is always room for new clothes right?” Anouk had been a shopaholic, a real one, going out shopping everyday and always buying something now she wasn’t even feeling up to it, her creativity and her energy blown away and her whole body aching. How was she supposed to enjoy life the way she used to now? “Well I am not so much for lavender, I’ll probably go for something pastel, they are in this season too, but I’ll try find something.”
Back in the cold streets the clouds on her mind became lighter as the cold cleared her mind. Shoes were all girls’ weakness and Anouk was no exception to the rule. She could have up to hundred shoes but she never got tired of buying them and piling them up in her wardrobe. Some of them she only used once or twice, reserved for special occasions and others were daily wear, she never had enough. Opening the door of the shop and smiling at the woman she started to look around. “I know you probably don’t have much time for it, but how’s your love life going?” Okay so she had a thing for suffering and liked to dig her own grave, but maybe hearing about someone else’s love life will make her feel better instead of worse, as if there was hope somewhere and maybe her and Alexei weren’t mean to be. Absentmindedly Anouk looked at a pair of high heels that looked quite nice, showing them to Maureen she asked. “What do you think?” She knew why she wasn’t into shopping today, apart from the pain, she had no one to dress for, apart from Cass but he was too busy giving his attention to this other guy… and that made her feel the more lonely even if they were sharing house right now.

-- maureen briefly worried about how much money she had, and how much she could really afford to spend today. she had a bad habit of overspending and then scrambling around to try to pay the few bills she had. but today, she was going to buy herself something pretty to wear out with anouk. she was shopping with her friend, and there was no way she wasn't going to spend any money. pastels were pretty too! "there is always room for new clothes! and i'm sure you'll find something exquisite. you always do." maureen wasn't sure that anything would look bad on anouk. she just had that complexion, and the personality and charisma to pull just about anything off. maureen on the other hand, stuck to what she was comfortable in, hardly venturing outside of her fashion comfort zone.
-- the cold air was making her nose tingle. winter was not her favorite season, but she found it to be very pretty when the snow was white and delicate. it never lasted long, the cars making the roads turn grey and slushy. the sidewalks were never too bad until the snow froze and walking became impossible. maureen didn't really like to venture out in the winter. it was too much work to bundle up and then take everything off to go into a warm store or cafe. following anouk inside the shop, she was glad to be out of the weather. "what love life? it's pretty non existent. unless you count flirting at clubs. i'm getting sick of that though. but i'm pretty sure if i added a guy into the mix of the hot mess that is my life, i'd go insane." maureen sighed, then chuckled, shaking her head. "and yours? hopefully going better than mine." maureen asked a little hesitantly after looking around at all the shoes. she felt bad about not keeping up with anouk, but things had been so crazy! "i like those!" maureen said smiling. she glanced around, trying to find something that caught her eye, and would be easily matched to either something lavender or pastel.

Anouk loved not having to worry about Money when she was out and about shopping. It was one of the few things in her life she didn’t have to worry about. She was trying to have fun with her friend today; really, this was what she had wanted to do… not. The thing she wanted to do was crawl back into bed and lay there doing nothing but suffer in her misery and feel the pain of every of her muscles of her body. She was hurting in places she didn’t know she could be hurting, apparently she could. Anouk was making an effort to fake a cheerful tone of voice and seem happy, but she knew she looked awful enough on the outside to make people wonder what was wrong with her. Her friend was polite enough to not ask her questions about it though which made her happy. “Sure I will help you with it, and I can also find a Christmas present for you.” She knew her friend couldn’t afford the clothes she could and so Anouk was taking her to the cheapest around town and then to a Chanel one maybe to buy her a present for Christmas.
When Maureen asked her about her love life Anouk bit her lip. Was she supposed to tell her about what happened with Alexei? Or could she let it go and not worry her friend with unnecessary pain? She was going to go for the second option, though it was obvious sooner or later she will have to tell her the truth. “Uh well, I had some… flings you know me, nothing serious. I’ve been lately with Cass… nothing serious either but it’s more solid than the rest of the things I had.” Anouk was not a compromise girl, she was allergic to it, anything that had to do with it made her cringe away immediately, no cheesy stuff, not romantic things and much less feelings involved. She went through guys like she went through clothes it was the way she was. Because the one she wanted was the one she couldn’t get. “Better single then tied down right? I guess we are better this way, with our flings, we enjoy it more.” Maureen also didn’t have serious things lately which didn’t make her feel as bad about her life as she should feel. Of course Maureen was not a slut and Anouk had earned that title over the past years, the heartbreaker… it was hilarious now, coming to think of it, when she had been the one with the broken heart all along.

-- sometimes she felt a little inferior to anouk. the girl was gorgeous, and had plenty of money. at least she wasn't showy about it, or flaunted it. anouk was definitely not stuck up in any way. but maureen just wished she didn't have to worry about money. she would definitely give a lot to her aunt. she deserved it. the woman had worked hard her whole life, and she was helping put both maureen and her brother through school. maureen would be forever grateful to the woman. she giggled and shook her head. "you don't have to get me anything." it was a really nice thought, though. but what would maureen get her in return? surely it wouldn't be anything like the gift she would be receiving. homemade gifts paled in comparison to something materialistic. oh well, she was just being paranoid about her monetary situation. she'd definitely figure out something.
-- listening to her friend, maureen could see similarities between the two of them. in the way of love, they were almost cut from the same cloth. she nodded. "cass!? i gave him an impromptu dancing lesson once! he's really funny." she smiled, remembering the day in the studio. that was the most fun dancing she had had in a long time. but she knew about flings. she had a lot of them. sometimes they were nice, not having to worry about really seeing them again, it was just casual. maureen had been super busy, and hadn't really had time to go out. she was also starting to want something a little more than just flings. she had no time for anything serious though.
-- she nodded, smiling. "yeah. i have no time, or patience for being tied down right now. flings are a lot less work." maureen let out a little giggle. she couldn't remember the last time she had been in a serious relationship, or at least exclusive. was it even for her anymore? maureen wasn't really counting on meeting someone any time soon that would make her want to settle down. she still had so much to do and see! boys were nothing but trouble anyway. she would never be able to figure them out. and they said girls were complicated.
